2007 ALL SMOAKY HS FOOTBALL TEAM - WINNERS!

I wish this team could’ve been released a month ago, but I’d rather produce it later---if it allows me a few more double-and-triple checks of the nominees and their stats.

I appreciate everyone, fans, members, coaches, and players for their help in sending the nominations and in the voting process.

I appreciate those coaches who also gave me additional feedback on the nominees, not their players, but their opponents.

I enter this project every year knowing we can’t honor everyone, but knowing we sure tried.

I release this team every year knowing we won’t satisfy everyone, and most of the comments will be… “How could player-X be placed ahead of player-Y”, or “Where is player-Z?”

I will always promise you one thing, and that was I was as thorough as humanly (and technically) possible.

Despite numerous emails and phone calls, not everyone gave me proper feedback, and that’s unfortunate because as I’ve said many times before, “It’s always about the kids.”

Because we cover 146-programs, I think this team separates us from any other teams. And those newspapers and websites also do an incredible job, but they’re usually dependent on circulation, viewer ship, or membership.

The All-Smoaky.com team is based on a massive range throughout East Texas.

I also do not keep a player who receives a “Superlative” honor from also being selected to the actual position team. An example is Alto’s Tarlandus Mitchell. He’s our player of the year, but also a first-team selection at quarterback and defensive back.

I tried to keep the team to a minimum for each position, but that’s just impossible. There are some positions that have more than would normally play on the field at one time, but in this day and age of the spread offense, and defensive schemes…who knows what positions are on the field anymore.

Once again, I appreciate your time, interest, and support, and I hope you enjoy the team.
