You’re right. For these bowls to be revenue makers for the cities that host them, they need matchups that work for their region. The HoD Bowl should have traded West Virginia to the Bell Bowl for A&M. Both games would have sold more tickets. How many Aggie fans are gonna fly to Charlotte? Obviously, there aren’t a lot of Mountaineer fans willing to make the trip to Dallas. But what if they swapped? The Independence Bowl has been a mess ever since they lost their SEC/ Big12 deal.2 points

Some people have a hard time being good winners. Win with grace, young man. The Hawks did their talking on the field, and have won the respect of the football world in their quest to be the man. Now be a man, and chill out. Time to grow up, be mature, and stop embarrasing your school, and being a poor representative of Hawk Nation. Bad enough you are trying to tick off the rest of East Texas with your rants, but you are starting to get on my nerves, and I bet a few more of the PG faithful would agree, time to stop running your mouth. You guys were awesome, so quit ruining it.2 points

It’s really comical. I mean they had a great year, and he’s making an issue out of it. I guess if he wants it so Bad enough he can probably get a permit and budget his own parade if that’s what he wants to do. The police did escort the kids in so it wasn’t like they came back to a empty town.1 point

He really wants that parade, not only is this topic on here started by him, its on the other site as well under the other name. Good grief. I wonder how many folks met those kids at the school after they got back…….. I bet it was alot.1 point

I just watched the end of the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl between Utah and West Virginia. There were more people at the AA D1 State Championship Game between Mart and Refugio than were at the Cotton Bowl for this game. For that matter, I’ve seen bigger crowds at Ram Stadium for a Joaquin home game. Is this proof that there are too many bowls?1 point

Lion70 you are in for a big disappointment, the Dawg freshmen and sophomore classes are loaded. If they work hard, eat right, hit the weights in the spring and summer. I can see a third championship in a row. Don’t forget about K Ingram’s little brother. QB, three O linemen coming back, adding number 77 to the O line at 6ft 5” and 285 lbs. If you don’t think the Dawgs don’t have receivers lined up and waiting, your nuts. They bring back three D linemen, 80, 84, and 40. Three defensive backs. I admit you cannot replace the best three linebackers in the state, but I saw two sophomores or freshmen that looked awful good. Hope all you want, but coach Surratt has a lot to work with. If they don’t win number 7 next year, I bet they get so close it scares the hell out of you.1 point

First of all congrats to the Hawk players for a fine effort to win the forever elusive state title. Congrats to PGDad on his "called shot", congrats to the Hawk Nation who have supported them through thick and thin(thats you, PGDad and Hawkeye), congrats to all the fair weather/bandwagon fans that popped up during the run, and congrats to even you batmaker....for may the force be with you on your journey of growing thicker skin and bigger cajones to ready you for the post state title endeavours that await you. Congrats Hawks.....I'm proud of y'all. Way to bring it back home to East Texas.1 point

I have not been in the office since November 16. I have spent two weeks in Russia, one week in Colombia, and mixed in a trip to Pennsylvania, WV, and North Carolina. Headed to San Antonio tomorrow for the Alamo Bowl. Going to be real tough going back to work. May need a name tag to wear. I just hope that no one has commandeered my office!!1 point

Carthage will probably go into 2018 ranked #1 based on history...but the three peat is unlikely. With that said...as long as Surratt is there they have a shot.1 point

"The big state title game performance pushed Ingram's career rushing touchdown total to 76, which is 22 more than the previous Carthage school record. He also eclipsed the 5,200-yard career rushing mark to move to second in Carthage school history. Unofficially, Ingram finished the 2017 season with 2,327 yards, a new personal best after his 2,244-yard junior campaign, which also ended a Texas Class 4A Division I state championship. Ingram gained 83 more yards as a senior on 84 fewer carries than his junior season. Ingram finished his career with 6,173 yards from scrimmage, unofficially, along with a total of 83 touchdowns." This is from an article on 24/7. What's impressive is the big play ability Ingram. and the Carthage offense as a whole. You can see from him having 83 more yards as a senior on 84 fewer carries. That means he took a buncha runs to the house. I hope everybody got a chance to see Ingram. He was a special, special player. We might not see another one like that for a longtime. I think we will be able to continue Keaontay's career for a longtime. He is the total package. Talent, attitude, humble, smarts, decision making. Great young man.1 point

I don't trust either team. Texas is bipolar and Kansas has no frontcourt depth. Toss up game.1 point

And if we do 3 peat you can always fall back on the pure luck theory. No sense in arguing this now, we can revisit the issue in about a year from now. Surratt wont be walking any stages in may and as long as he roams the bulldog sidelines we will ALWAYS be in the hunt to hoist another trophy.1 point

If your implying that Gunter made no mistakes and played a "better" football game them your wrong. They made just as many mistakes and obviously struggled against a better team. Just because they battled hard does not make them the better team.1 point

Mizzouri couldn't buy a three and had trouble with free throws against Illinois. Couldn't miss against SFA. Especially the first half. SFA could just as easily be undefeated as of now.1 point

Three-Peat.........If those good but thin lineman, both sides of the ball, gain some "good" weight and strength, then it is possible1 point

I agree, with 2 big if's...................If Surratt, Preston, and Smith are all coaching in Carthage...........And if a certain ankle heals completely with full range of motion1 point

As a Texas alum I will never, ever, pull for OU even if they are representing the conference; put A&M in the same category. Now, there are times where I may root for a particular player on the said teams, but collectively, no.1 point

Well....football season is over...and while we still have the winter and spring sports to go this year.... I feel like this is an end of an era. It always seems realignment has a seismic change every now and again.... and this will be one of those times again. 2002- when Nac and Marshall dropped from the largest classification. 2004- when the I-20 schools got sent south into region 3. 2008- Longview visits the little guys. 2010- JT visits the little guys 2012- Greenville, Ennis, and Corsicana get tossed into East Texas 2014- Longview visits the little guys again. And here we are again.... and we will be losing Texas High to Div I while the rest of us will remain in Div II. Greenville, Corsi, and Ennis will likely leave us. Maybe even SS and MP too. It's been fun. Going to enjoy these last few months of 16-5A..... and then it's on to new addresses and adventures for most of us. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year friends and rivals.1 point

Here you go with this would've could've ####! Give the credit and save the IF's. Your analysis isn't needed about without this or that PG don't win! Your talking hypotheticals cause last time a checked he played and started 15 games prior to that and had the same effect in games when called up. Give the Hawks the credit and stop with the Without ####!!-1 points

In my opinion, Gunter was the better team per-say, Newton had the better athletes. I've said it 20 times, and I'll say it again. If you had lined these teams up next to each other, and didn't know anything about them, you'd easily say Newton would win without it ever being close. That wasn't so. Newton was faster, bigger, stronger, anything you can imagine, they were it. With all that being said, Newton didn't take the final lead until the last play of the 3rd quarter. They missed wide open receivers, had a TD called back.. they looked rough at times. Call it what you want, but Gunter played a heck of a ball game, and did great to keep it close, because they were incredibly outmatched athletically.-1 points
