So, if the Union soldiers had other reasons, other than only to free the slaves, don't you think Confederate soldiers also had many reasons for fighting? Our history books can not even begin to explain all the factors behind the war, but in the scheme of things, freeing the slaves became the be all end all, when the fact is it was only a minute portion of why the war was fought. You list a lot of reasons for the Union's part in the war, but even those reasons don't begin to explain fully the whys, nor the motives behind the actions. They weren't as pure as history tells us to believe. My point has always been we can't fix the past. Gosh, we can't even fix the present. The motives of those today, trying to tear down and destroy history, are not about unifying the country nor about helping people deal with the past. A past that they didn't even live through nor understand. It's not our right 150 years later to cleanse our world of what we perceive to be symbols of evil or to hold people today accountable for sins they didn't even commit. If we destroyed everything that offended someone there wouldn't be anything left on Earth.

With all he's done for the country and across the world I have to give him an A right now. I didn't plan on voting for him, but will now. Who would have thought the Korean War would finally be over after 65 years. The economy is bounding, unemployment is down, fewer people are on food stamps, regulations have been reduced or obliterated, the fine for the ACA has been abolished, and on and on and on. +1. Let’s wait for all the facts to come out before condemning an entire program as a whole. There will be more clarity to the situation once the other side of the story is told. Especially from the CHS Administration and Atheltic Department. This story has many layers.

It's called Confederate Heritage month, not Confederate Veterans month. Seems to me that most human beings wouldn't continue to fight a war that will keep other men in bondage if you win. Just me. As for me, this celebration is an agreement with the causes they were fighting for. Some people actually think the South would be a better place if the confederacy was victorious. To me this is not 150 years ago. No one knows who is running for president on each side. Look for somebody to primary Trump on the Republican side. Will it be a serious contender like Rubio, or somebody else trying to make a name for himself for a possible run in 2024 ? Nikki Haley is rising in the Republican ranks pretty fast. I would bet you on this. Never underestimate the snobbish character of corporate America. Only reason Trump won in 2016 primary was the vote was split over 16 different ways. If Republicans have a one-on-one primary season with Trump, and it has to be a credible candidate like Rubio or someone else, Trump loses. Ted Cruz would wipe Trump all over the place in a one-on-one primary with Trump. Nikki Hayley would likely win too, but if all these people run for President. Trump would win again.
