2017 Newton would have rolled 2013 Cisco... yes 2018 Newton loses that good LB and a few other good players but those losses IMO are offset by the number of elite players who are a year older, wiser, faster and stronger...that will result in collective improvement...I think Newton would be the #1 team in 3A Division I this year and would be in the discussion in 4A D2...

I encourage comments and discussions about my picks, but this will stay a clean discussion each week. I will not hesitate to pit you guys in a corner if you can not keep it clean. TCU by 40. #23 TEXAS VS MARYLAND 11:00AM FOX S1 Hey 11:00! This is the one game that I remember Texas getting destroyed and embarrassed in last season. I know they only lost by 10, but that game was embarrassing and had us all thinking that Texas hired the wrong guy for a short minute there. Then the season unfolded and Texas played everyone close, had some big wins, some terrible close losses... but I saw the potential there from coaching alone. With an official starter being named yesterday, I expect Texas to prove that they are a top 25 team in a revenge game against a reeling Maryland team. Texas by 20. If i remember right, that rule wasn't put in place for whistleblowers, it was put there for HC firings, recruiters being dismissed, the Maryland and Baylor crap etc etc... Also loopholes in NCAA rules.

This is a classic example of absolutely nothing to lose for Marchiol to say this. Literally it’s a no risk high reward situation. I’m wondering why every transfer isn’t trying to get around this rule and saying anything they can to get waivers... I mean we’ve seen kids get waivers for allergies, so it’s not like there aren’t ways to try to get around sitting out a year.

Friday at 5:30 for JV and 7 for varsity. . I am going to come watch. Hearing lots of positive things. I wasn’t expecting a lot this year because I think the better athletes are in the freshman and sophomore classes but sounding like we may be a little ahead of schedule. If GW stays 3a it’s going be tough on folks the next few years when those youngn’s grow up.

Update on this. GOD is a on time GOD both boys are doing good they both was released by the DR last week.

I talked to JJ this morning through message. The garage that was on fire was his brothers and the young man that got severely burned is JJ soon to be nephew. He told me the young man had just graduated police academy and was to marry his niece shortly. He also said the next 24-48 hours are very critical and the young man needs lots of prayers.

This will be one heck of a Heavyweight Fight in Week 1. Outcome probably depends on the health of the Lufkin QB and how conservative (or not) the Lobos offense is against the highly touted Lufkin defense.

I believe they they will have some tougher competition this year, I see a few teams from last year bringing back tons of players and experience and will be better than last year... its Newton's to lose this year... that ball bounces funny directions sometimes.. good luck to the figs this year

Just thinking about how your team performed last year, and what they need to do to improve this year. I'll start Gilmer needs to reduce the turnovers. Turnover bug was a big problem last year. Gilmer also has got to improve on run defense this year. Big backs especially hurt them last year. So that's what I hope to see as the scrimmages start. Any other teams?

Interested to see how GW does in 3a. Last year was tough, but they played a very tough schedule. I’m expecting a playoff run from Da Bears.

More consistent production from the RB's. With 4 returning starters in the O-line the running game should be better this season.

Lets not forget that the Sophmore class are now juniors. This is still the same class that were very impressive in 7th and 8th grade. That's what made last years run so special. PG picked up some transfers that I have been watching that look really nice. A LB and a DB/WR from New Boston. The backs are not the versatile backs like TJ and Martin but they are blistering fast, they posted better 40 times than both backs from last year. I don't see a lot of power from them due to their size but they can get gone in a hurry if they set the edge. The passing game will actually be improved from last year. PG will certainly be in the mix.

I love it. A&M has sat back and let everyone else that hits their recruiting ground hard have questionable staff members and tactics for a while. They are finally playing the game it takes to be an elite recruiting team.
