  1. Apples to Oranges. Yall aren't losing anyone hard to replace like a Bivins Caraway (2012) and you aren't losing over half your starters on your entire team (2014) Thomas should be replaceable because of all the raving yall do about the backups. GT JUST said Moore can spin it so shouldn't be an issue there. And mentioning any injury on defense is straight up funny. Your HC is supposed to be defensive minded and as you have so eloquently pointed out, LP has 3.2 billion D1 offers on the defensive side of the ball and all of that returning experience. All of that ...and you can't overcome an injury or two on that side of the ball? Should be able to. As I've said all along, having those dudes wouldn't have changed anything. I took Longview by multiple possessions with 100% healthy Lufkin from the jump.

  3. Of course you think that. Year after year everytime some picks Texas over a&m in your mind it's always "Uncle Red", "a trainer", "girlfriend" or some other narrative. Flip the script and it's "Jimbo is kicking !" Shepherd was leaning Texas long before the gf chose Texas.

  4. As a neutral (Bearcats) fan. I have to agree. Eagle and DirtyBird is on here talking smack. Win, lose, draw, or even when nobody is here listening. They are true blue (or green n silver) as can be fans!

  5. Your response didn’t refute anything he said. (Charlie Strong has nothing to do with anything he said. You just like to keep bringing it up because your guess of him not working out as the coach Texas turned out to be correct.) You said you’ve seen enough of Herman on the trail and in-game coaching to believe that he isn’t the guy to bring Texas back. Well the recruiting rankings say you’re wrong as far as the trail goes. You say no one fears Herman on the trail yet despite missing on guys in-state he still has Texas in the top 10 with at least 10 more spots to fill. Maybe that doesn’t scare you but it’s dang sure impressive.

  6. Gosh. 2 titles way back when? Who cares about the old stuff. What have you done lately in Tatum? Center athletics has owned you for the last 3 years and you can’t deny that!

  7. I haven't read any arrogance from Gladewater, so unsure what you mean by Longview arrogance rubbing off on Gladewater. Sure you didn't mean SH? As far as the "Gladewater hype", not sure being excited about your team before the season starts is hype. Pretty sure most fans of all teams are optimistic about their teams chances before the season. This is the one week all teams are the same to their fans. By the time district starts the Bears will be well tested by their non district opponents, and if they stay healthy they should definitely be ready for their district games.

  9. You really are completely delusional whenever Longview week kicks in aren't you. Where...in ANY of the 39 pages of this thread...did a single person say y'all were making excuses...for a game that hasn't even been played or an injury that hasn't even been confirmed other than message board talk? No one has confirmed if any of them is playing Friday. Fact is, you've talked all summer long about how many D1 guys your defense has. "Longview hasn't faced this many D1 guys in who knows how long." If you have one guy out on that side..or even just two..and you're already screaming about how much those injuries are going to effect y'all, then you have more problems to worry about. And now you go into talking about how this game is absolutely meaningless. It doesn't matter in the long run at all. But yet, we have all the pressure and it will make the rest of the state ponder about how good we really are if we lose...? I don't know what you're trying to accomplish or say in most of your posts anymore. Other than being argumentative. I tried to give y'all a compliment a couple pages back how it was't excuse no matter who they had in the backfield because of how talented you are...and somehow you've turned it into a victim play by saying we're making fun of Lufkin fans for halfway bringing up excuses and injuries. Fact of the matter is, Lufkin is a fantastic football team and will be far less challenges in district this season than they've had previously. You're trying to build yourself up to say that's not true for whatever reason, but it is. If Lufkin doesn't go undefeated once district starts, y'all have some huge problems. You're facing a playoff bracket that is far less challenging than the one you would've been facing in 6A. It's the entire reason y'all are so excited down there. The fact also is that we'll be a very good football team as well, and most of Longview fully believes we can contend for a State title in problem the toughest region in all of 6A. You yourself said the game doesn't matter and it's all about improving. But neither of our kids feel that way. I would say both of our coaching staffs don't feel that way, but after reading the Lufkin paper yesterday, Quick's statements have definitely swerved right since the scrimmage. All of our fans, both Longview and Lufkin, want to beat each other. Will it matter going into next week? Not at all. It's just ridiculous you to see you completely change your tone on everything since 5 days ago.

  10. Neither. By playing up and mean up in classification. Not because of the hype, but because of the numbers. I've seen Gilmer beat smaller schools more talented than them because of the simple math. Gilmer interchanges 13-16 kids on offense, and 13-18 kids on defense. Almost nobody goes both ways (WRs and CBs will play on both sides of the ball, but with a lot of breaks and rest time). Meanwhile, smaller schools are playing 4-7 kids both ways, and don't have the depth in numbers to interchange players. Yes, heat will be an issue for both teams, but it will be a bigger issue for the team that has to play more players both ways and has less depth.

  11. I'm expecting a playoff atmosphere again.even though it's week one. Hope are boys that were on varsity last year still has a bad taste in their mouth about the L. I'm sure Gunter will be fired up just to play their first game at home and on newturf.

  15. Really? Let's see. The transition class wasn't highly rated with only 17 commits, but 12 of those 17 are either starters are contributors/in the 2 deep. I'd say that's outstanding evals. 2018 was #3 in the nation. Currently now at #10 with the least number of commits. Now, are their some in-state kids that were lost to a&m I wish Texas had? You bet. I'd love Leal, Richardson, Wright, and Green (as a Guard). Jimbo has the new coach bump/car smell (which will fade once games start being played). I guarantee you'd take Tyler Johnson, Roschon Johnson, Floyd, Sheppard in the a&m class.

  16. CNN Just Had Their Big Russia Collusion Scoop Go To Absolute #### Well, Matt is back from the Left Coast—and what a hellacious week it has been. First and foremost, CNN got plastered in the face again with a rake, being utterly embarrassed in light of Lanny Davis, the lawyer for Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal lawyer, being outed as the anonymous source that said the president knew about Donald Trump Jr.'s meeting with some Russians at Trump Tower in 2016. Davis has since backpedaled on everything, making the CNN story total trash and virtually worthless. The network has refused to retract or correct the story, delivering a BS line: we stand by our reporting. It’s wrong, CNN. You’re wrong. You ####—you always will. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/townhallcomstaff/2018/08/28/triggered-cnn-just-had-their-big-russia-collusion-scoop-go-to-absolute-####-n2513808 Townhall.com Staff | Posted: Aug 28, 2018 3:55 PM and they wonder why they are called "fake news" ... 18. Actually not only have I not seen arrogance I hve yet to even see anyone predict that GW would win. Sure we all think our teams can win but to have arrogance to think you get a win for just showing up is silly. I’m sure being 5-0 coming into district that SH felt pretty good since GW was like 1-4. How’d that go ? Bad half or not you still have to play a complete game to beat any team. All I will say is that this will be a competive game and whoever wins will do so within a 10 point margin.

  23. I would agree with you about the numbers, but I would have to know exactly how different the numbers are this year compared to last year. Seems to me the number difference was pretty significant even last year. In my opinion, I just don't see that being a consideration this year. Maybe in future years if Atlanta continues to lose students and Gilmer continues to gain students. That being said, Atlanta has had issues with getting tired in the 2nd half of games, so you make a great point, not necessarily because of the classification numbers, but because of the Rabbits' past showings. Personally, I just believe if the Rabbits are going to beat Gilmer, it will be this year. I think there are more positives that outweigh the negatives, that give Atlanta a chance to get that victory. I have no dog in the fight, so personally, except for the fact we play Atlanta, I don't care who wins one way or another. Should however be an interesting game.

  28. I see this as a strategic move by CDC. He knew the Answer when he called Woodward. The one thing that the Aggies are trying to use to recruit against Texas (the SEC pitch) is about to be gone. Texas will have LSU, Arkansas, Bama, Georgia on the schedule for the next 8 years. “You won’t play us?! We’ll play everybody you play”.
