First of all, you played well. Secondly, here's some advice from somebody older (not necessarily wiser) but def older, get off of Smoaky, it is no place for a player to be. Just my opinion that I'm sure your coaches would agree with. You can read it, just don't post, it never seems to go well for the student athlete.3 points

"Gilmer would normally win......" - Up until the last 3 years? Likely. "Carthage is the best and superior to all other programs...................." They are the best program in 4A, if not the best in all classifications, proven by 6 state championships in the last decade under Scott Surratt. "83 Daingerfield Is best team ever..." You'd have to have seen them to understand. 631 points scored (in that era) and giving up only 8 points through 16 games, 14 out of 16 games were shutouts including 13 in a row to finish the season, opponents averaging less than a foot per offensive play? Yes? I'm of the opinion that if that defense would've known that they would set records for shutouts, they would've shut out the other two opponents. They would've found a way. They were that good. None of this has anything to do with Newton, and the Eagles will likely put a whooping on a "down" Gilmer team. It is what it is, and unless we regain the fire in our belly, we're likely to see a couple more in district. I just hope we can give y'all a decent game. Nothing would make me happier than to see our team play much better after being embarrassed last week.3 points

Outside observer. New to the forums. I just like East TX football in general. Both these teams are steeped in tradition and carry a lot of respect. I can remember the old days. Boo Garrett running the ball for Corrigan back in the mid 90s. And the likes of “Rooster” and Lorenzo “Heee heeee” Jackson in the mid to late 90s respectively. I haven’t watched Alto in a long time but always thought highly of them. Last I watched them was when Tarlandus Mitchell played. Should be a slugfest. Good luck to both teams.2 points

Agree, good luck to both. It's just been fun talking it up. Gilmer has earned its respect and even though I think its Newtons to lose I would never count Gilmer out. They have the athletes and tradition to turn it on any week. Just ready to enjoy this one, either way.2 points

They went 10-0 last year then got beat round 1 I think everyone has a wait and see type thing on them until the playoffs although it seems they have as much talent as anyone1 point

He isn't from The Grove. Wrong Lions. He's from Franklin, who have a really good team!1 point

Real talk, aint nothing we or your fans will say that will determine your season or any aspect of any outcome. Come on here, print off locker room material to post in the locker room to fire you boys up, but no need to post and combat words that mean nothing on this site. We are just a bunch of old has beens that finished our careers long ago and just couldn't "hang up the cleets" lol. Yall are having a fine season young man, keep up the good work and good luck the rest of the season.1 point

Racer you always hate on Winny and Sabine when they have nothing to do with the topic. I remember not too long ago when your beloved Necks were 1-9 and lost to 1-9 Sabine. The Cards are 3-1 and have won 3 straight. You also love to refer to Tatum as "puffs". Tatum has never been a puff at this level, and have been playing the likes of Center and Pittsburg this year. They lost on road to Center, in which Center got a hail-mary tipped pass for a TD and Tatum still had opportunities to win. Who knows how this district will turn out, but Tatum is certainly not a "puff". Your arrogance just makes you look dumb, brotha. I'd also take my chances right now with a confident Sabine squad over your struggling Roughnecks. I'm all for mouthing back and forth with people within reason, but there is a difference in loyalty for a program and arrogance with stupidity1 point

Golfingnut is a true gladewater fan... On here win or lose and support's gladewater even when they are down.... You seasonal fans are the worst... You only support your team when your winning1 point

I don’t think you’ll see that happen. However this whole site is meaningless banter. The kids are the ones that matter. As long as they keep their heads on straight and stay injury free I like our chances against anyone in 3AD1.1 point

Wow, must have hit a nerve. I never said MP didn't make mistakes, in fact I didn't even bring up that game. But since you want to go there, did MP make mistakes, absolutely. Is MP "terribly slow"? Ummmm, no. Did MP make them look better because of the mistakes, of course. However, that game has NO BEARING on my opinion of the Paris and Melissa game. Stand by my opinion, Paris by 211 point

I will be in the house for this one...super fired up should be a great game.....Rockwall's gonna have a big home crowd with it being homecoming and I expect a large Longview contingent as well....should be a great atmosphere1 point

Indeed, he could help pioneer the forward pass there. Ed O has heard some good things, but still doesn't really understand it.1 point

Hey! In all fairness, that's probably a more realistic prediction of the score based off of what I've seen and the analysis of Rockwall's defense. Never in my LIFE have I ever seen a Lobo defensive line get taken to the slaughterhouse like I seen last Friday against Ruston. I mean, we have an absoloute POROUS defensive line and our linebackers are equally as bad. Secondary, is doing a pretty decent job and thank God for Lister and Taylor. Now, Taylor ain't no Jalen Carr (God PLEASE reincarnate him SOMEHOW this Friday) but he is absolutely holding his own. Haynes King............................ This kid can be erratic sometimes and I have had my fair share of skepticism about Lobo QB's and deservingly so when it comes to PASSING. But, if this young man can add another 25 lbs. of pure muscle and can get that 40 time down 0.25 seconds by the time he graduates, there's no doubt that he'll be in the N.F.L. Well, that's if he doesn't choose one of those schools like Northwestern Louisiana or ULM. I can absolutely see him signing with Louisiana Tech, though just with his roots and family being in Louisiana. I personally want ALL Lobos to sign with the Oklahoma Sooners but, he desreves to be at a MAJOR D-I school like L.S.U. if he decides to stay with his Louisiana roots.1 point

Scary thing is I expect GW to continue to get better. They are playing sophomores at several key positions. The Qb and Rb are both sophomores as well as the lineman who was hurt Friday night. Injuries or lack of them may determine who ends up the better team come playoff time.1 point

I never claimed A&M would beat either team. I just said it would be close against Clemson with a POSSIBLE win. That’s exaxtly what happened. They played close and had a chance to win it in the end but lost by 2. Far from the outcome you and many others predicted. Now stop making yourself look like a fool and let’s move on from this dead horse discussion onto something else.1 point

Believe me, nothing Coach Langford does goes unnoticed!!! Great coach and even better guy!! The blocking this year has been outstanding!!! In fact several posters have mentioned the blocking on all the game threads.1 point

I believe they’ll take a full class again. They’ll also be in the grad transfer market again.1 point

Newton has 598 passing 947 rushing in 3 games. Averaging 49 points per game on offense. Defense is allowing 7 points per game. Gilmer has 948 passing 577 rushing in 4 games. Averaging 31 points per game on offense. Defense is allowing 44 points per game. I am looking forward to this Gilmer offense averaging 35 pass plays per game and 30 rushing plays per game. Newton is averaging around 14 pass plays per game and 31 rushing plays per game. Should be fun to watch!1 point

Both teams are heavy with tradition, both took it on the chin in their respective last outing.. I believe the character of both will rise up and force one to Excell Friday night.. Whom will it be? Luck to you both and may the lord bless all with no injuries and allow each to learn something about themself. After all, that's what football is about. Chain out.1 point

I'm picking against them for the rest of the season. They don't have the offense to compete in the NFL. All we have is a running game, and a decent defense. You can't win in the NFL with third tier receivers.1 point

No doubt about it. The second half put some needed hope back to us fans and the team. It was amazing the diff in the attitude of the whole community.1 point

Franklin wont meet up with either yoe or rockdale till the playoffs1 point

All signs lead to barn burner in this one. Story of our defense has really been this bend but don’t break trend we seem to be in. I think that’ll be the difference here. A couple of stops here and there should be good enough to get a win in this one. The high snaps in week 4 should not be happening. That’s what was and has been my biggest issue all season about us. In the playoffs and even district teams like Rockwall will capitalize on those silly mistakes.1 point
-
TFF, I don't think anyone is questioning your knowledge per se. For all I know, you could be John Madden on a lithium bender. But there is something to be said for having realistic standards about the capabilities of teenagers. The game of football has evolved, and the only defenses that are pitching shutouts in 6A are playing cupcakes. It doesn't help to lose your mind at the first sign of adversity. Try to relax a little. Enjoy it more. There ain't too many fanbases who are privileged enough to deal with the "struggles" that Longview has. I promise you that no amount of freaking out on the Internet will make our linebackers taller.1 point

Hate to say it we have some really good players but this year is showing that we really need to clean house and start over with our coaching. Yes i expected to lose to carthage but we did not lose we were donkey stomped and had no answer to slow them down. No adjustments were made we looked like the nerdy kid who got in a fight hunker down and look scared. We have been seeing this for a while and some will defend what we have but it is time to make changes. Not saying anything bad about our coaches but it aint working any more. We have got to have a defense change if we want to pose a threat to anybody. Wake up coaches if we can hold them any at all we dont have to rely so much on our offense. Man its as plain as day. good luck with the rest of the schedule because we are going to need it.1 point

It’s too bad Starling left.defense really could have used him! Not even sure he’s on Roster at Killeen Shoemaker? What happened? Plus they are awful ! AKA... you are brilliant1 point
-
This. This. This. They are going to move the ball. They are going to get points. If you're upset about it, get it out of your system now before Friday. No defense in the state is shutting down this Jacket offense this season. All we have to do is try and limit them.1 point
-
Okay before we get this game started... Folks are gonna need to realize that Rockwall will move the ball and get their points because they are potent offensively. Jaxon Smith will probably be the best WR we'll see all year. So I don't wanna see any TFF meltdowns. The reason Longview will win this by 10 however is Rockwall's defense is pretty bad. Much worse than Longview's for anyone who has been paying attention. Haynes, Kamden, Jessie, Keilyn and the crew roll in this one.1 point
