I just want to add my two cents to Quick and ANTI. I have been on both sides. Green Goggles Lobo fan and after being let down time and time and time and time again I see exactly what Quick is saying. We all look at the Lobos in the best perspective with HIGH hopes. Then the fire gets put out. It took me years to get over the South Garland loss, and taught me a lesson. Green Goggles got taken off. I still believe in our Lobos and want a State Championship just like we all do. It takes a good team( not great) and a lot of things to go your way and a lot of luck to win a State Championship in Texas. We have had the teams. Not the luck. 1998 was a very good team. Top ranked in the state and deserved. They beat Duncanville in Preseason who went on to win state. That was a heartbreaking year too, but not a bad team at all. What I’m saying is this, it will take winning one to get this program over the hump just like Allen, Katy, etc.. Lets look at why so many Lobo fans are skeptical, our old district. Lufkin, Longview, , Marshall, John Tyler, Tyler Lee, Pine Tree, Nacogdoches, Texas High. The only teams from that district not to win a modern era state championship. Pine Tree , Nac , and Longview. Some great teams and talent but no title. We are tired and weary and reserved sometimes. That is ALL of us, Me included. 07, Wolf all of us got down on the Lobos at times and King as well. We can’t control the players, coaching or luck, but we can control the atmosphere, the noise the excitement. Set the tone Lobo fans. We have the team this year, I believe we have the coaching. The luck will be what it is. We all love the Lobos. At least the true Lobos love our Lobos. I hope it all comes together for all our fans, players and coaches, we deserve it. These kids want to win it for themselves, but they want to win it for Quick for ANTI for all the former Lobos and family. So lets be Lobos, we all bleed green from the Mustangs to the Bears to the Dragons to the Eagles to the Lobos. Lobos against Everyone!!! Except Our own family, the Longview Lobos. Beat Mesquite then Everyone.7 points

MV in a close one. Tatum will be more athletic but they spent up a lot of energy emotionally and physically tonight. Depends on the hangover and more importantly getting their star player back 100% bc they will need him if they have any shot at winning this one. Don’t take MV lightly, been saying it for weeks.2 points

Yeah it just shows 2 things 1) If you play sloppy, teams WILL make you pay for it. Even teams that aren't as talented as you are. Mesquite led us 24-20 cause we didn't play well and they made us pay for it. and 2) When Longview DOES play well, there aren't many teams that can go toe-to-toe with them.2 points

I wonder how they felt if White Nationalist protested at their homes, and did what they did.2 points

I am understand his optimism for next year...…………...Probably have a bunch of sophs that are almost equal in talent -------the ones a little better are on varsity and the others got 9 games of playing experience on JV...…………………….those JV players may grow more, get stronger than the varsity players, and/or get faster by next year and become varsity starters...……….Kilgore thinks they will be loaded with depth the next 2 years --- and probably so Carthage thinks they will be good for several more years, based on what is coming from the JV, freshman, and 8th grade teams...………..It is okay, for other teams like Kilgore, who have those same good teams, to think the same way.2 points

I'm surprised the "district of doom" phrase is still being used honestly!2 points

Pretty impressive dominating season by the JV despite their top 5 best players (Meredith, M.Haynes, Powell, Hale and Jackson-Jamerson) being on varsity. That sophomore class is something.2 points

If you held me down and made me choose, I would have to take Carthage. I know all good things come to an end, eventually, but they are the Champs until somebody shows me otherwise,2 points

I think you are right about the attitude of residents towards students, and the attitude of a lot of the students are the same towards the residents. My major concern for the football end is finding someone that will be honest and forthright with the area high school coaches to establish a rapport and utilize local talent. I currently scout for Tarleton in East Texas at the smaller school classification to compose a list of players for them to evaluate and recruit if they see fit. I want the SFA attitude to change from oh they are small school kids and do not fit the "DI Prototype" and we can get them to walk-on with a "Preferred Invitation" because we are SFA and they will come here anyway. Thanks again for listening, but I still have some old wounds, or as many would say on here "I am just butthurt"! Have a great day.1 point

I did play for Lufkin but if not them then I would have liked to play at either John Tyler or Longview.1 point

Unless one has that experience, then one has no idea how special that is ... it is my fondest memory as a HS coach. However, I think I probably enjoyed it more than him ... because he had to deal with me ... lol. Wish I cudda stayed in the business long enough to coach with him, too ....1 point

On another note, didn't see it posted anywhere. Longview JV beat Mesquite 34-14. They finish 10-0 on the year. Longview 9th tied with Mesquite 36-36. They finish 5-4-1 on the year.1 point

Can’t buy it?!?! Get prepared to max your CC out!!! Back to Sabine JV game, epic battle!! Last fun game for us on JV. Didn’t help you that your stud QB got injured. Known him for a while and he is an athlete in any sport he plays. Fun to watch!!1 point

Hearing that the 8th grade went undefeated in dist and won dist? Looks like that move to Thursday with Alto had some unintended consequences.. Sorry jackets, looks like that game could have changed things... Congrats to the little Injuns... Wooooooooo..1 point

The Mav JV beat PT last night (score?) to finish a perfect 7-0 in 9-5A. They finished (7-3) overall. Both of the 8th grade teams went undefeated in district play. The red team finished the season 8-0. The white team finished 6-1-1 (need to verify). Varsity has clinched the district championship and will go 8-2 with a win tonight. 4 district titles and a possible 25-0 in district play by those teams is prettt impressive. 9th grade has had a rough season. Proud of athletes and the staff for making this such an xcoting season of Maverick football. The future is looking good!1 point

I wonder if you would call it that if a bunch of people showed up outside Stephen Colbert’s home in the middle of the night protesting his one sided take on politics? You are a perfect example of the double standard.1 point

Correct. Ever notice that every candidate, regardless of party affiliation, is all for “reform and transparency” right up till they get elected and get to Washington? Then they start talking about “being practical so we can get things done.”1 point

I'd say Liberty Hill will be very very tough to get by. LaVega is super-talented and has a stable of very speedy RB's combined with an excellent defense. Stephenville is in the mix and can not be discounted out.......they have an excellent run defense and good secondary. Their offense has been steadily improving. Paris is very dangerous, but sort of banged up. They have so much upside it's staggering what they may be able to do in any given playoff game......speed out the wazzoo......more than LV and that's hard to imagine. Argyle and Carthage are very good and very well coached. They both can score and both have great defenses. Both teams play with great discipline and both coaching staffs make quality adjustiments during the game. Carthage may have a bit more talent, but Argyle can and will play with anybody. I think all of these teams are still improving.......it will be a very tough playoff rodeo.1 point

Cameron Yoe Vs. Whitney/Groesbeck/West Groesbeck could be Midway on Thursday. West would be Thursday at Waco ISD. Whitney could be Thursday at Midway or Friday at Mexia. Could have all been avoided if the Whitney coach would have agreed to play Waco ISD as every other coach in the district had done.1 point

I was wondering that, someone said after the game there was a block in the back on the return and they offset so I’m not real sure, either way, that was as fun a freshman game as I’ve ever watched.1 point
-
Wow that was one of the coolest freshman games I’ve ever been to. Kilgore and Carthage’s 9th grade have been throttling people all year, and they get together and the final ends up being 22-21. I can’t remember seeing a freshman level game where both sets of coaches were coaching that hard as well as both sets of fans getting that loud for a Thursday night game. Excellent job to both teams, I have a feeling Kilgore/Carthage is going to be awesome the next few years.1 point

Naw. You're a damn liar is what you are. Find where I said any of that about Meredith or Haynes and I will send you a $100.00 via MoneyGram RIGHT NOW and I STAND on that! And, want you come around the '97 crew with that talk Friday night and be a man and talk that same noise. We'll be at the 2nd section as we usually are as soon as you walk in. Ain't Jack squat fake about me homeboy. At the end of the day your era ain't accomplished no more than what we did because we all have come home at best in 2nd place. What in the hell do we have to gain by rooting against our own alumni. Hell, I drive all the way from Humble, Texas to watch these Lobos and as high as gas is, I can tell you right now that I ain't paying to watch them take a loss. I can listen to Brent Taylor and Johnny Vaughn do that for FREE. Your commitment to being the best nut caresser ever doesn't superceed anyone else's commitment to the Lobo football program. I just don't get all hyped up like you and others do and then get to complaining about the kicker, the weather, time management, etc., etc., etc. And, the last Lobo that I can remember that played and had any significant exposure on television in the Big 10 conference was, Daydrion Taylor before he was injured in the early 90's. And, you know you ain't related to him so you can quit that lie right now because all I have to do is call Bobby Taylor like right now and put you on 3 way "kinfolk". Anyway, as Lil' Duval said, I ain't going back and forth with you ...... oh, I "forgot" that last part. But, yeah.1 point

It's the same thing all coaches would do for their team, and the same reason Aaron Rodgers (while QB at Cal) hates Mack Brown.1 point
