  1. I'm just gonna say...I don't believe in trash talking your opponent before or after the game. I'm also a big believer in karma or jinxing or being superstitious, whatever you wanna call it... and these couple guys better enjoy crow if the Rabbs lose this game because the way I see it they're just giving the other team bulletin board material and motivation. I understand being confident but these are 16, 17, 18 year old kids. It's just way over the top.

  2. Congratulations! You are the new HFC/ AD of the Lala Land ISD Fairy Tail High School Unicorns! We look forward to looking over your shoulder and second guessing every decision you make as we tell the people who elected us “We support our kids!” Now get out there and win us a state championship, but don’t win too many of them. We don’t want the band/ academic parents saying we put too much emphasis on football. GO ‘CORNS!

  3. This game needs to happen already...I am sick and tired of hearing from family/friends who live in Magnolia area about SW....

  4. I can't tell you how ecstatic I am for this opportunity for myself and my family. Lala Land is a tremendous community with people who are passionate about their own desires and children. As AD I promise to hold all kids accountable but keep the administration's kid not quite as accountable. It will be my desire to use this place as a stepping stone whenever I realize that the kids, administration, community, and school board will not support me as I try to instill mental and physical toughness! GO 'CORNS!

  5. this is from this this years rule book so I dont think the proposed change in june was implemented 9-1-4 TARGETING AND INITIATING CONTACT TO HEAD OR NECK AREA OF DEFENSELESS PLAYER (PENALTY Statement) PENALTY [ARTICLE 3 and ARTICLE 4]—15 yards. For dead-ball fouls, 15 yards from the succeeding spot. Automatic first down for fouls by Team B if not in conflict with other rules. For fouls in the first half: Disqualification for the remainder of the game. For fouls in the second half: Disqualification for the remainder of the game and the first half of the next game. If the foul occurs in the second half of the last game of the season, players with remaining eligibility shall serve the suspension during the first game of the following season.

  6. Just ask the idiots in the stands, they know everything and have all the answers. Plus they pay taxes and coached em in Pee Wee when they won the Super Bowl.

  7. If the Administration and School Board do decide to split the AD/Head Football Coach jobs, I think it will be more of a reflection on how poor a job Bowman did in leading the overall athletic program as opposed to any internal desire to become a "basketball" or "baseball" or even "soccer" school. If Center has the money to hire an AD only to oversee athletics, then more power to them.

  8. My phone put the H at the end. Defending champion Pleasant Grove ,(Notice the defending champion at the beginning) will be ready.

  9. I would also add to Pittsburgh not to stack the box and try to stop the run. Ben will beat you with his arm if you do. Pleasant Grove is definitely not one dimensional. They take what the defense gives them and are very proficient at both!!

  10. Great comments and respect from many of you. And likewise here. To the comments concerning adjustments. Our staff is absolutely one of the best at making halftime adjustments. A perfect example would be last week vs Gladewater. Whatever the game plan was the 1st half was not getting the desired effect. As a matter of fact the stats were in GW’s favor. Made the change at halftime and had success. Our offense is very good. But it’s our defense that, as of right now, is playing with an intensity that I’ve never seen before. They will be the key to our success. If we can limit the big plays and not let Atlanta’s quick backs get open in space I think we will be ok. To Atlanta, Gladewater and Jefferson you guys have great programs and I look forward to playing y’all again. To the fans y’all have been great too. Well with the exception of Rab4Life. Lol. Good luck to everyone I have mentioned, safe travels and try to stay dry and warm this weekend.

  13. I honestly haven't seen both teams, just PG twice, but I do feel like PG has the upper hand here. PG's coaching staff is just excellent, and they are a very good team. Plus, they've already won once this year. But I gotta admit, it's hard to keep up with some of these teams now that we've dropped down. Just glad to see this district having to beat one another out.

  15. Well...I predicted Malakoff to win based on our experience of playing them and Atlanta, but I was pulling for y’all. That was until I read your comment. I do wish y’all luck however. But the bigger question is...where you a few weeks ago ... No hating here, like I said I was pulling for you guys, but when you got your a$$ handed to you over and over where were you at, sure weren’t here. I give props to Hellrazor and bigboy bc they were holding it down while you and some of these other newbies ran for the hills. Everyone has opinions, does not mean we’re jealous, or at least I’m not. So why act like the Clintons if someone has a different point of view...smh

  17. @DOB, these are TIMELESS!!! Lot's of "old time" thinking that has gone by the wayside and a lot of "new school" thinking that does not hold water. But these, IMO, will always be accurate. Only change I would make to fit our society today is the word DEMAND. That word can get you a wee bit of trouble. Encourage, cajole, or inspire might be a better choice of verbiage here.

  18. Let's not forget people that you should win with just as much class as you lose with. There was alot of mess talked during the week. Most have come on here and admitted that Newtons eye test is much more than any film or highlights could give them. DF could very easily be the best team in 3a D2 besides Newton. Newton impressed last night and made a statement to the rest of the state. Congrats DF on a successful season and glad to see your moving in the right direction again.

  19. Here's my fool proof way to get hired 1) Know the person with the most pull on the committee 2) Tell them how you won't make the baseball kids and basketball kids go to the weightroom 3) Hire a smoking hot female to bring to the interview (unless you're married to one) 4) Have a couple of division 1 looking sons 5) Obssess how much you care about the band 6) Talk about bringing in a culture change but let the hiring committee know in subtle ways you're just going to polish their t.u.r.d.

  20. Well they have proven four games in a row that they can’t beat the best and three in a row that they can’t even score on the best so..........

  22. Hey, we at Smoaky.com are state wide buddy!! We can talk about any and all football teams in Texas! Just keep it within the state lines where true football is played, we dont want to talk about the powderpuff ball they play outside of Texas!!

  23. Refugio is rolling since switching back to the spread last week they finally let Ochoa take all the snaps.....he probably should have been the QB all along...hell he was newcomer of the year in Class 5A as a sophomore in 2017...Refugio has kind of a mental thing on Mason so I'll be surprised to see the Punchers win

  25. You guys are crazy. Newton would win any classification 4A D2 and down, and I would love to see them against some of the 4A D1 teams.

  26. Brilliant logic there, LK... except No, it isn’t; Carthage shut out Chapel Hill in the second half & ended up Winning that game by THREE TD’s....

  28. That's about as well as one could say it ... unfortunately that's not always how it ends up. Everybody seems to talk about being on the same page ... it today's fragmented society and community power structure, I would settle for everyone to just be in the same book. But you are on target for sure on this - The decision-makers need to know what they are looking for as a consensus ... WHAT DO THEY WANT? (Goals & Objectives) Then decide on WHO THEY ARE GOING TO GET WITH WHAT THEY CAN OFFER ... Bear Bryant ain't coming ... Number of WINS is super ... but why and how did they win? If you realistically have State Championship material then hire a coach that has coached with State Championship material. If you have good kids with average talent, then look at how they did with that kind of kid, etc. Every community is a little different, just like every coach is a little different. And I have always believed that life was about FIT. Do you want a leader or a manager? The thing I was most amazed with in interviewing was they always asked "What kind of program are you going to have if you get this job?" When they should be asking "Show us what you are doing in the program you are running now and how will that translate to our program?" ..."And what do you plan on doing differently? and Why?" But, in many ways it is still pot luck (and tends to flow the way of who you know not what you know) ... what I have noticed over the years is that if you have 10 openings that you fill - if you get 3 keepers out of that 10 then you probably beat the odds. Hint: If you get a job based on Who You Know ... just remember, there are some others in town you didn't know who had someone in mind that they know ... and they often tend to grind that axe because their choice didn't make it.

  35. Sounds like you are the jealous one that you think that anyone who has the nerve to pick against you has a problem. As someone who has seen both teams, and has an interest in watching good football, especially when it's in our region, I gave my opinion. To call me names or bash me for my opinion is pretty immature. Quote my comment and tell me where I'm wrong. Oh, and I have play by play of our game with Atlanta also that will prove my comment. Could be that since Jefferson and Gladewater have played both teams, they might have better insight into the matchup, especially since we can be impartial. In my opinion Malakoff is the better team and should win. If I'm wrong, I have no problem coming on here after the game and saying so. Most Atlanta fans know I've always been respectful, even when I'm wrong, and I'm old enough to have been wrong many times. Like I said, prove my comment wrong.

  36. We have a good board. They allowed Barry Bowman to do whatever he thought he needed to do. Just couldn’t get it right.

  37. Yeah, but they would probably get a NC out of it.

  38. IMO, the Committee (which includes representatives from School Board, administration, campuses and community) should develop a list of qualifications and a philosophy that they feel best fists the kids that they have. Once they develop the plan for hiring then they cull the applicants down to the ones that fit their plan. Then interview those and decide who has the ideas and personality to fit their community and kids.

  39. It doesn't matter who the coach is....Until the Board and Admin and community get on the same page nobody is gonna survive there. It's always been a political realm at Center ever since I played against em back in early 90's. It didn't matter how good you were.....only what was your last name or if your folks had money. Too bad.....Center has some awesome athletes and could be very good. But Center is gonna have to put in work and change the entire culture there
