  4. I was in tears after the game. My grandfather was a diehard lobo fan for 70+ years and unfortunately didn't get to see them win one again. Well, he's in heaven cheering for these boys right now.

  7. God bless these kids. I'm so proud to be just a small, small, small part of their great achievement. HUGE congrats to all the parents, coaches, and staff who made this possible. God bless all you long-suffering faithful fans too. I know I'm a Johnny-come-lately to the party, but yall are an amazing family to be a part of. Yeah, I said family, because we're a little dysfunctional and dramatic (like all families are), but at the end of the day we're united in our love, support, and loyalty of this program. I love you, Lobo Nation.

  8. I can't tell how much all of the support from East Texas has meant to me. I know that Longview fans have annoyed smaller school fans over the years and we've butted heads. But when it mattered you guys all supported us... Many schools like JT and Marshall and Lufkin.... We got at it during the season, but in our toughest moments you guys were behind us. I had promised myself I was going to get banned when we finally won state. But I just can't.

  9. On the force out, for those of you who have the game recorded, go back and observe the referee ( guy in the white cap) after he finishes talking to the officials in the press box. You can read his lips when he says to the back judge "they said the receiver was not forced out." Then the back judge began to plead his case, and the referee obviously changed his mind. I thought the referee could over rule based on observations by other officials. To me this is what makes the ultimate call so puzzling. God bless W.T. And all the Newton Eagles on a most exciting year of football. Don't think I'm gonna get quite caught up next year. My nerves can't take it. But it was fun. God bless to all, and have a merry Christmas one and all.

  10. It's Game day! I've been a member of the board for a while now. I enjoy just reading what everyone else says and seeing how passionate everyone is about our Lobos. We are so blessed to be from Longview! With all the negativity in today's times we are able to enjoy backing our program year after year well into the post season. It's been 21 years since my senior year and being at the Dome, wow how time flies. One thing I'm certain of, whenever someone ask us where are we from? We proudly answer Longview, Texas. A lot of great memories I cherish are following our Lobos year after year. Many of my folks that never missed a game have gone on now. I think how proud and excited they would be today of our Lobos. Let's all enjoy this day and travel safe. Let's be loud today so those back in the View can hear! Go Lobos!

  11. Say what you want about our defense. They held West Brook to 6 points in the second half, and close to 100 yards. After giving up over 350 in the first half. They played horrendous in the first half, but at the end of the day, they came up when we needed it the most. And Longview just won a State Championship while throwing the football for over 420 yards. Let that sink it. LOBO UP!!!

  14. Have definitely enjoyed you being part of the Lobo family. Always great football knowledge before and during games. And I guess I'll let you off the hook for all the food and drinks you owe me.

  15. King was asked in the post-game interview with 48,000 at the game, what did he think Longview was like right now. He said, "empty."

  21. Since this post is open to speculation, I'm gonna offer my educated guess on what's about to happen at CHS. The superintendent and board will assemble and pick somebody who they thinks will provide the best employee to serve the district's kids. The dude will be judged and scrutinized and held to standards not even reached by Surratt or Bear Bryant. He will have about 900 armchair quarterbacks giving him several opposing ideas on how to run his business. I hope the cat has thick skin , a heart gold and the best of intentions. The Roughriders deserve a Grade A leader. TrueStorie

  24. Definitely, but the day to day planning and execution set the tone and identity of the team...I am sure the AD does have a positive impact.

  26. I know the excitement feeling pulling up and walking up knowing it's for all the marbles. I'm truly excited for the Longview Lobos community. You guys deserve this one. Just take care of bidness and you guys are going to be pouring up tonight celebrating. I honestly think Longview is going to win by 2-3 TDs. Unless the Lobos implode today I'm giving WB no shot. 80+ years or frustration will be unleashed today.

  27. Let’s go Lobos!! We can do this. I have my towel ready. Not to swing around, but to catch my tears WHEN we pull this off. Who will be doing the ugly cry is me. Lol! Sweet 9 lb baby Jesus hear our prayers.

  28. I agree with the poster who said Jerry needs the money. Sure, he's a multibillionaire based on the inflated valuation of his pro football franchise, but he had to borrow a lot of money to build that palace for it and he considers that he is doing high school football fans a favor by allowing it to be used in this manner. And the value of the sports league in which his franchise plays has been under constant attack from the President on Twitter until fairly recently. That was a wild card none of the NFL execs had foreseen in their business plans. Moreover, having finally achieved sobriety nearly 20 years ago myself, I implore all football fans who are of an alcoholic bent to stay at home to watch football, given that there is almost always an HDTV alternative way of viewing any big game nowadays. The life you save may be your own. Of course, you still may die of alcohol-related ailments later on, but at least you won't be taking others to eternity with you in the vehicular suicide/homicide in which you're involved. On edit, I have changed my mind as I think to myself "WWJD" (What Would Jerry Do) to make even more money. Have everyone who wants to drink at the championship games go to a special "drinking zone" of the stadium to be seated and catered to with the alcoholic beverages of their choice (since we are at Jerry World, you have to pay Jerry prices; sorry, but you knew that going in). Once the game is over and you are attempting to leave the premises, you will be further charged for the cost of the Uber ride to your home or hotel or whatever. Your keys to the vehicle in which you arrived will be returned to you once it has been determined you are again sober enough to drive.

  30. The thing that surprised me most was the way Cuero's o-line dominated. Whittington is incredible, but he also had some incredible blocking. Cuero was the first team this year to control clock and dominate Hawks in the second half. PG fans have to be excited with another special season, and with most of the kids coming back, including Bruce Garrett and Ben Harmon and about 15 other starters, I look for the Hawks to be back in the finals again. Cuero's defensive line was equally dominating in the second half. Garrett had 191 yards in the first half, but only 17 in the final two quarters.

  33. The best team won this one. PG played a heck of a game but just couldn’t control that one feller. The hawks are as tough as there is but their D just couldn’t control #3. A man among boys . Texas will be proud of this one. He will have an impact on Texas next year. A man among boys great season PG

  34. I think the SPREAD or some near variation off of that spread is the best option to run for an offense. Now that being said, whether it's football or any varsity level sport that you want to compete long term at the state championship level...you must instill a VERY STRONG junior high program that very closely mirrors your varsity program in every way. Your student-athletes should be starting from the early age to understand exactly what the expectations of your program are and develop a strong pride in winning and even more a deep dislike for losing. Accepting mediocrity whether in their athletics (spills into their academics)...will make it easier to accept mediocrity in the other steps in their life. Teaching it early...ingraining it...that's building a program.

  35. It's booming for me, and I'm making money. Gas went down to $1.79 a gallon that means more money for Christmas. The stock market is going to do what the stock market always does, and goes up and down. I haven't seen a crash.

  36. Celina does in their JH I think. And the deadliest offense.is the the scheme your players can best execute.
