  1. Ingram needs to get up to 220-225 and improve his explosiveness and he’ll be great. I look for him to have a great offseason and finally get Texas a 1K rusher.

  4. Yep. The final score was nowhere near indicative of how one-sided this game was. Big win for Texas! Ehlinger played extremely tough and opened a LOT of eyes tonight.

  5. No I don’t have a dog in the Chapel Hill situation. But as a coach I do have a strong opinion of parents that get on a message board and openly criticize a coach or program. Coaches do a lot more than just coach. They teach classes, drive buses, have extra duty, and many more things. Why don’t you go sit in your kids English class or Math Class. Critique those teachers. Tell them what they are doing wrong. Get on Facebook and express your views so everyone can read it . Again.....your a helicopter parent that wants to observe everything that goes on at CH.

  9. Defense goes a long way... against these teams... Look at LSU... while Bama beat them handily, LSU made Bama's offense look tame for most of the 1st half and at times in the 2nd half. With the collection of coaches and talent on those 2 teams, it's going to take some great defense and some disciplined offense to even keep it close. OU could have beat Bama if they could have borrowed the Texas D that played yesterday...

  10. No. I think they'd play them closer than most would expect though.

  16. Herman needs to fire his OC if Ingram isn't the centerpiece of the offense. Ingram should get at least 2 carries for every 1 of Ehlinger's.

  17. I want both Lingberg and Majors. They are both the prototypical guys we lose to Stanford. Hopefully that changes this year.

  22. Meh, I like it better this way, it's consistent branding: Sooners 2019 Thread, Longhorns 2019 Thread, Aggies 2019 Thread. It just makes more sense to do it this way.

  25. @Stoney, if you're wondering, I'm the one who changed the thread title. Trying to keep things on the topic of Texas A&M, instead of bickering about nomenclature. EDIT: just went back and read the posts. It seems I'm too late.

  26. Um do you know the concepts of school name and team name? I get that it's confusing because it has the state in the team name and that happens to be the name of another University but team name =\= school name. School name: University of Texas Team name: Longhorns, commonly shortened to Horns School name: University of Notre Dame Team name: Fighting Irish, commonly shortened to Irish School name: Texas A&M University Team name: Fightin Texas Aggies, commonly shortened to Aggies Yes, it'd be a mouthful to say "Texas A&M University Fightin Texas Aggies", so it's commonly shortened to just Aggies, but the team name has been Fightin Texas Aggies well before it was A&M. You say things like "Accept it!" I'm telling YOU to accept reality. They're facts backed by research and history.

  28. My concerns aren’t just about winning football games. IMO to build a program you have to set a example to the underclassmen. They need to see that it don’t matter if your 3 rd string or college bound, discipline is a top priority no matter who you are. If they see kids acting out but still playing, they think it’s ok too. If they see a senior standout get benched for a game or two for disclipine, they will see it’s not tolerated so they are less likely to even go there. It’s not about how much talent we have or wins at this point imo. I think back to several years of watching Bullard. They were typically way undersized and didn’t have any standout talent. But they would fight with all they had until the last second, very disciplined, no stupid penalities, no pointing fingers, etc. I always had much respect for the coaching staff for how these kids played ball even without winning games.

  29. I agree 100%. The only prob with that is the lack of parental structure nowadays. For some kids, the only accountability they have is school and sports.

  32. The new "targeting" rule is really taking away from the game in my opinion. There have been some very questionable calls to say the least that cost teams key players. It has gotten out of hand to the point where defensive backs are almost afraid to make a tackle for fear of being ejected for targeting. I am all for protecting players, but the targeting rule needs to be adjusted to where only flagrant hits result in ejections ... The speed the game is played, it's almost impossible to keep from getting called for targeting on far too many tackles. It also slows down the game and the penalty is far too severe on questionable calls where defensive players are not making contact with malicious intent ... something needs to be done to modify the rules/penalties ...

  33. I'm anxious to see who will step up at linebacker. Hopefully the juco guy coming in later this month can make an impact. Cook and Green should be the corners, will probably have a few growing pains, but they'll be studs eventually IMO. I think DL can be a real good unit next year. Omenihue will be missed. Hager not so much. Coburn, Ojomo, and Ossai all played several series last night. All 3 of these guys having an offseason will be huge. DL should have lots of bodies to keep fresh: Roach, Wilbon, Bimage, Chisolm, Ossai, Ojomo, Coburn, and the juco guy coming in a few weeks. Safety play should be elite. And let's keep Herb Hand around a while.

  34. I've said it a couple of times but the 2020 class may be top 3 with high end talent like the 2018 class. Every recruit tuned in last night and have been talking about it on twitter/social media. I think Texas will land more of the high end in-state guys this go around and continue to add elite out of state talent.

  40. The story is A&M told him there were limited spots when they offered and he chose to wait. Now there isn’t room for him. Supposedly both parties have discussed it and they are not quite sure if there is room for him and he is aware and is not upset about it because he knew waiting might cause this. So now his commitment is taking a holding pattern until A&M figures out the numbers.

  45. Evidently the numb nuts have never read how a name affects people from childhood thru their adult life. In basic training, we had a guy who’s last name happened to be Fuchs, and he was a conscientious objector. The Drill Instructors never grasped how to pronounce the “h” sound in his name, so they just used a “k” sound. For the whole 8 weeks.
