I hope they try to go local. As a former Buckeye, I’ve seen 1st hand the success East Texas guys have had here in East Texas. Surrett, Taylor, Frazier, Russell, Lane. All East Texas boys. I hope for SH sake they don’t go with DFW coaches. East Texas kids are a lot different than DFW kids. Takes one to know one. Just my 2 cents.

2 games I saw they lost because of him too. If Coach Griedl is the next “guy”, I have a feeling Marshall is about to go on a run over the next 4-5 years. A little town south of Marshall hired a young OC from a winning program in a higher class about 12 years ago. You just never really know if you are hiring the next great one or not. This feels right for Marshall. I got a funny feeling I’m going to be rooting for Marshall deep in the playoffs for the coming years.

The DMN should get some Marshall folk to be equally as candid about him. It would pop some eyeballs the shenanigans in the last year. Anyway. He is gone. And we have a young bright coach that we are all excited about.

I couldn't agree more. He did a phenomenal job given what he came in to 4 years ago. He flipped the attitude, expectations and culture of a community (that had been very deflated) in the 4 years he was here. The "Build the Hill" attitude he rallied around worked well. I'm not sure everyone remembers just how bad it was before he arrived. Wins and losses do not measure the amount of success he achieved with our programs. I wish him well and believe it's a sad day for SH that he "chose" to leave. Too bad our administrative leadership wasn't able to work out a better situation to keep him here if that were a possibility.

I recall Beckville having issues with Woden in the late 90's. Had to play at neutral sites and get outside refs for a year to calm everything down. Woden's players AND fans used racist slurs towards Beckville's players. It was not a pretty scene. The next season Beckville beat them in their own gym which hadn't been done by anyone in a long time. It was SWEET! So, I'm not surprised by anything negative I hear about the Woden Eagles or their fans! sad
