Having a successful high school baseball program is largely tied to having a quality local youth league program that you get players out of. If a kid hasn’t learned how to hit a ball before he gets to 9th grade, Joe DiMaggio couldn’t get him up to speed with kids that have swung the bat since they were 4. Baseball/ softball is about having kids that have learned the skills from a young age. Yes, the coach can make a difference at the high school level, but only if he has the kids to work with. But, it’s a fine line, because most of those kids that have those skills comes with a daddy that thinks he’s more qualified than the coach to run a team. Makes for some high blood pressure situations.

Totally agree. The best way to do it would be to have a double elimination 4 team tournament. The max games you’d play would be 4 total if you have to fight thru the loser’s bracket to win a state championship. This would be much more interesting and keeps the feeling of a “series.”

Question? I believe baseball to be a game decided by series' and that by playing a series the best team usually prevails. Most of these teams have played in a series to get to austin. I'm not wanting a mlb best of 7 type series to win the title but at least a best of 3. My question is why bother playing a series or 2 or 3 to get to austin and then once there, it's all one-gamer's?

As a Cowboys fan, I'm still not convinced Dak is the future (primarily because of his inconsistent accuracy), and definitely wouldn't give him $30M, but he's also definitely better than several of the guys some of you are putting above him. Garropolo? Cousins? Car? Flacco?!...he may not even be a starter this year. Dak is a top 15 QB in the league. But $30M. You better be top 3!
