  1. Maybe you should watch the game... when a RB can outrun any defender on the field by 10 yards in a 100 yd dash the guy deserves his props... You can go back to being negative Nancy in your own corner... there were 2 players that made that game competitive... the QB and the RB for Kansas... had nothing to do with anyone else... And for you to think that Les Miles isn't coaching his ass off in Kansas just shows your own ignorance, not ours.

  2. Nobody is disagreeing with you. We all know Kansas isn't a good team. We are simply saying that Kansas doesn't #### near as bad as they used too. They actually have a couple of good players to where they could potentially upset somebody. If you can't see that then you clearly don't watch enough football.

  3. As a breakdown, Alto needs most of all to work on the timing and mental aspect of their game. The misques that they made against us Friday night will eat them up around the second or third round when the comp gets fierce, sharp and crisp is what they need to be looking for going forward. I see no reason the jacket can't be playing in December if the kids get it in their head that they can play with anyone and maybe take it all.. IMHO it could wind up in a battle with SA and the jackets need to be Uber focused going down that stretch... Good luck as y'all start rolling and may luck be in your favor... Chain out.

  4. Hale/Kearbey/JD Williams/CJ Hop/Moore/Phil Wash....no wonder we've added 5 wide sets (which is what Hale scored that bomb in). Drops have been crazy. But, any of these dudes could go off at any time. I'd just rotate with Hale getting most of the reps. Whoever has the hot hand in that particular game, that's who gets fed. Some of it will be situational too. In must catch situations, critical 3rd down or something....Hale, JD and Kearbey would be in 3 WR sets. Hale and JD have had the best hands on the team all year. Kearbey has had drops but tends to show up in key moments. He got us out of several 3rd down situations in Lufkin in particular. On deep bombs, you gotta have Kyas Moore in. Hale too along with Ced Hop...perhaps JD although I like him more in this next section... For short/mid to intermediate passing where we're looking for the run after catch...JD would be featured here almost exclusively. Sprinkled with some Hale and Phil Wash. For run blocking, Hale and Kearbey. Now, notice Hale is the only one being brought up in every section. He should definitely get majority of the reps.

  5. If your team can play defense the train horn isn’t a factor. Tru storie.

  6. The funny thing is, a Left Wing Loon opinionated article in Time list what the writer regards as bad things Trump has done - so in the Left’s minds, Trump is bad. Yet we can post comparable list about Obama, and they still think, Obama good. Waste of time Barry. I won’t say Trump is good, but he’s infinitely better than anyone we’ve had in a long time.

  8. Kids these days would rather get their ass-whooped and look silly as a Freshman and actually hurt their team instead of waiting a year or 2 to get bigger, stronger, smarter and actually help their team.

  9. if they lose out i think there's a chance but a small one. im almost certain though that at least one coordinator will be gone if not both, should probably be both.

  10. I don't understand this either. This is where changes need to be made to the portal process. Very few programs start a large number of true freshman. If he thinks he's going anywhere else and playing right now, he's sadly mistaken. Wait your time, learn the offense, and WORK your way into the lineup.

  12. They lost to a team named Coastal? TCU beat them 51-14. That should tell you all you need to know about might Kansas.

  13. Yes, exactly this. I tried to explain this to members of our fan base, as well as a few UT buddies who were talking smack about OU's unimpressive win.

  14. I have kids that played football and also were in band, plus daughter was in color guard. Enjoyed watching both. I'm all for the bands playing during the game. Like other have said, it adds to the atmosphere of the game plus it's the only time they get to play besides band competitions. The only time I've ever seen a coach complain about a band was our coach, when our band played while we were on offense (director had no concept of football - he was only there for one year IIRC). Before I went to competitions I thought they would be a snooze fest; I was wrong. Probably has something to do with whether or not your kids are performing, but I was impressed with what a lot of the schools could do. I have seen Alto's band at a couple playoff games, and they are excellent.

  17. Ok let's play this out. Gladewater loses a close game to Atlanta,,,,Atlanta has played everyone in D7 close except MV. WR beat the breaks off Arp, Hughes Springs beat the breaks of off Arp by about the same margin. I think GW, WR, and Mineola are comparable to HS, MV, Atlanta, Jefferson. After Sabine beats the rest of dist. 8 you will see they are heads above D7. Tatum puts together a whole game they are right there also. Not disrespecting anyone, just the way I see it. I like the way people are just thinking WR is trash after the Sabine loss. I've been wrong before and might be wrong again but I think I saw one of the best 3AD1 teams in the state last night in the Sabine Cardinals. Yes I know that comparing opponents doesn't always work, but it's makes for good conversation. Good luck to all teams it's gonna be fun.

  18. It’s a part of high school football. There are some rules as to when they can play, but they’re usually only enforced if a coach asks for it. Without the bands, a lot of high school games would have a very dead atmosphere.

  19. After Mv upsets Atl and Hooks beats HS last night this game just got a lot more interesting. Uil is meeting on tuesday about MV 2 players and whether they will he eligible this week or not. But honestly I think even if they aren't MV has figured out an offensive scheme that will work. Who yall got?

  21. Nobody is sunshine pumping anything. All we are saying is you can't sleep on Kansas anymore.
    1 point
  22. Nobody is pumping anything. We’ve all said Texas played terrible on defense but we’ve also said this wasn’t the same Kansas that lost to Coastal Carolina. They replaced their OC and had 2 weeks to prepare for this game.

  23. I know some of you guys are sunshine pumpers but its getting out of hand. Kansas is not a good football team. O-4 in Conference and 2-5 overall. No need to sugarcoat this.

  26. I knew when they hung 48 on Boston College that Kansas was a different team. Even when they were playing OU close for that first half I wasn't all that surprised. If someone thinks they can easily get by a Les Miles Kansas team, they'll get a wake up call. They aren't 'good' in the grand scheme of things, but they got some play makers who can really do damage if you aren't careful. Their running back is electric. Watch, they will upset someone in the next few weeks. I was impressed.

  28. Texas would blow SMU out of the water. And I like SMU. Both my grandfathers are SMU alums, but let's be serious here. Texas would have a month to get healthy, and we know how good this Texas team is when they are 100%. I don't think it would even be close.
    1 point
  29. Here's the thing if we were playing SMU in a bowl game, we'd have a long break where guys would get healthy...and coaches would be spending a long time to game plan every aspect of SMU backwards and forwards. There would not be anything like if they played right now...with Boo licking his chops and his main receivers eating up the backup DB's and safeties. I grew up going to tons of the Pony Express games at Texas Stadium, loving them and am glad to have them doing great BUT Texas would hammer them in a bowl probably by 31 (around 51-20) unless Herman called off the dogs early and SMU made a late run of TD's in the 4th on backups...then it'd look a lot closer than it should like a 51-41 shootout.

  30. Now THAT is the Cowboys team we know. What a complete game all around. Just total domination. Makes me mad about the past 3 weeks, but I'll take those losses if its a butt whoopin of the Eagles any day.

  34. It’s usually not enforced until the opposing coach asks for it, and then they usually give a warning. Like almost all Texas High School football rules, it matches up with ncaa rules. The difference is it is strictly enforced at college games. My one and only gripe with that is the fact that they have been inconsistent with keeping football players and coaches from interfering with band performances. Just this year, SFA has had a Tarleton State grad assistant elbow a piccolo player in the nose during the Lumberjack Marching Band’s halftime show. During the BOTPW, the kicker from the Sam Houston Institute of Technology and Science decided to practice field goals during the LMB’s halftime show. If there are rules that keep the bands from interfering in the game, surely they can keep football players and coaches out of the way for the 28 minutes that the bands are on the field.

  35. Regardless of whether the rule is a good rule or not, the coach maliciously tried to disguise and use a player he KNEW WAS INELIGIBLE ... he should have been fired! ....

  37. Last night's game was a classic "trap" game coming off the RRR hype. Texas survived playing with guys that were never expected to touch the field this year in a contested game. I'm just hoping we can get some injured players back quickly.

  38. Not Me-The coach tried to cheat and got caught, that simple. I feel for the boys but when you are own a team that will cheat to win, and get caught there are consequences to cheating. I feel bad for you ( the kids ) but you are just as guilty as the coach, it's like being in a stolen car, you might not have stole the car but you are riding in it= jail time. The boys should have turned the coach in. Give me a break changing his # so he could play was very deceitful, send a message to the coach and school, they all knew- throw the book at them.

  40. If Keeling stays around with this group, he may have another state title contender team, I wish Keeling was coaching this EF team with his style of offense, he would have them contending for a SC, Ford is gonna keep running the spread at EF even when he doesn't have the right players to run, its either his way or the highway.

  42. While things are clicking for Marshall right now.... we are far from perfect. Penalties are worrisome. If we find ourselves in a close game, all these penalties will cost us BIG. We’ve been to overcome them in district play. But we can’t count on that as we enter the meat of our district schedule and forward into the playoffs. For the first time this season.... we didn’t miss a PAT Vs Jacksonville. We’ve missed at least one (usually several) in every game we’ve scored in. We were 6/6 last night in PATs. AND we kicked our first field goal of the season. That was great to see. You need that ability in close games! O line still has moments of breakdown.... but overall they are really coming together well. We have two running backs that are keeping defenses on their toes and the QB adds a third rushing threat to worry about. The passing game continues to grow. The short passing game is really losing well. The long pass game continues to improve... but the long homerun is still a work in progress. The starting defense had a big night, shutting Jax down. Indians didn’t start moving the ball u til the bench was on the field. Same as we saw in the Hallsville game. Still a little concerned about how Lindale and MP moved the ball through the air. Especially with WH and PT remaining on the schedule. i can’t speak for other Mav fans.... but seeing this team continue to improve, come together, and grow has been incredibly fun to watch. They could have laid down when they lost their QB. Nope. Could have folded up there tent after their abysmal showing Vs Longview. Nope. Could have lost interest when social media and local media were questioning their every move with personnel and stirring up trouble. Nope Could have lost their heart and passion when they lost a teammate in a car accident. Nope. These guys and the staff deserve some praise for staying the course through some pretty rough times. I for one am very proud of them.. and excited about what’s to come.

  44. Haven’t seen Allen play in a few years, but I know they used to have a band director who loved football and knew football. The 500 member band never played when Allen had the ball and they did their best to make it hard on the opposing team’s offense by blasting music.

  45. Bands should play during the game, always have and always will. The real question is why do they have props!! What is the point of those things!
