Been a fun week. Pretty cool folks in the J. With that said, tonight is about the kids. Many (17 on our side) will be strapping up with hope that it’s not the last time. Lots of parents and family members hoping the same as the inevitable draws closer and closer. Nothing lasts forever whether you win or lose. I pray for traveling grace for all and a heart full of fight for every single young man on both sides. A good team goes home tonight while the other gets to keep chasing the dream. See y’all there.

No matter what this game lives up to the hype

Father, I come to you today not to ask for anything for myself, but to ask that you give Pease of mind to a thousand young men who are about to finish up their high school career in football. FATHER i ask that you touch thier heart and soul, give solace to the fallen and grace to the Victor. Father I ask that these young men leave it all on the field and that they give the glory to you. Things I've garnered from this thread this week. 1.both fan bases are in all honesty, a Lil nervous. 2.both fan bases are convinced in their heart that they got what it takes to win it. 3.nobody knows which Joe team shows up and both teams fan base nervous... Lol 4.both fan bases pray that if nothing else, their team goes out like a true road warrior, fighting till the end. Asking only but for one last remembered fight. Chain out. Gentlemen shall we play a game..

Better is all relative in your statement. You can say Temple is more talented but Jesuit is more efficient/proficient, but does that make Jesuit better? They can be the same, one producing due to talent the other due to execution. Then there is match ups.... I think the results will be the same for Jesuit as it has been for others Longview has faced this year.

It's game day and I've been mulling over my prediction all week. I have respect for Joaquin and their football team and all that they have accomplished this season but that being said I just do not see the upset happening tonight. I know it's playoff football and anything can happen but this years Alto team will be too much for them in the end. I can see it being a one score game at the half but I have Alto pulling away in the second half. I think Joaquin will break out and score on a long run or two if Alto is overly aggressive and will catch the secondary with their eyes in the backfield and hit them over the top with a passing score as well. But give me Alto 47-20. Best of luck to both teams tonight and I pray no one comes out injured. Safe travels to and from the game everyone.

Here’s my take, usually when a team loses a key player they take a psychological hit. When Nelson went down the Rams seemed to cinch their bootstraps up tighter. This was what Joaquin was capable of all year. This was 4 full quarters of football FINALLY when it truly counted. The Alto hype train was real. Were no smoke and mirrors. When I showed up and heard that band play and that crowd cheer I got goosebumps. Ram crowds are faithful and ram band is good but they ain’t never had an aura like that. I literally could not hear the Joaquin band play over the Alto band and I was sitting right by the Joaquin band. First half had penalties and turnovers but was a tough contest. These teams were popping leather. As a result Joaquin loses a stud at running back. Second half, particularly the 3rd quarter, I could almost sense something from the Alto players body language. They knew they were in a fight. Weren’t no cupcakes on this night. They met a worthy foe. 4th quarter you could sense the Alto crowd, had, for the first time, been in an uncomfortable spot. The rams fell behind but simply would not give up. Bragg breaking loose on that pass, and then a few good runs you could sense the boys wanted it. Hats off to the Rams coaching staff. They made some adjustments at half time, on the fly moving the Qb to Rb and a lineman to Qb. A lot of programs would have thrown their hands up losing a stud rb. My take away. Both teams are grade A class act top shelf programs filled with good people. District 11 had more to it than people gave them credit for. The Joaquin Rams have let the entire region know they are to be take seriously, not just this season, but every season. Oh yea, and this thread has been legendary and the game matched it.

People.reading these comments on Haynes King NOT OK. Be respectful and mindful of what you say about these young men!!! They won state last year and have a good season this year. Be thankful for how hard these guys work and play hard!!!

Joaquin has a hell of a team. Pulling for y’all the rest of the way. I hope all of the boys that got banged up get ready for next week. For the one who broke his collarbone, may he heal fast. Great heart Rams! Y’all deserve that win.

Thanks for the kind words. And to you guys as well. I will admit for a quarter and a half I thought this game was gonna go a different way. Both teams showed tremendous heart and character. We haven’t been punched in the mouth like that all year. I mean no disrespect by what I’m about to say but to me it is mind boggling how you guys have not gotten past round two The last few years with all the talent you have over there. It’s a shame because that game last night is one you expect to see maybe round four. Similar to when we caught Rockdale 1st round two years ago when they won state. Anyway good luck to you guys next year. I think I speak for most of Malakoff when I say that you have earned our respect and deserve every bit of it. Anybody that thinks otherwise is a fool.

God I’m glad that’s over with. Jefferson y’all got a great team. Hate that we had to meet in the second round. That was a dogfight. Jefferson’s explosive speedy offense vs our methodical ground game. I’ll have to admit that first quarter I thought y’all had our number. Had me nervous. Lol. Tigers, great game. Y’all played a great team in a slugfest and never gave up.
