  1. Kennedale looked like Chapel Hill no contest and they're still recovering from that.

  2. They wouldn’t have beat HP or Manvel, but I truly believe they would’ve smoked Aledo or CS. I watched all those games. And please PG fans don’t mention PG. That would’ve been an absolute slaughter.

  3. Now I guess you aren’t wrong there. Texas went 8-5 and will pick up momentum from this and start slinging Hope like they always do. Oklahoma went 12-2 and it feels like a let down.

  4. Well you know the game was meaningless for Utah when they didn't make the playoffs. It's the same thing that happened to Georgia last year.

  5. I like too see PG vs Texas High matchup. Glad Carthage and Marshall are playing that could turn into a good rivalry.

  6. I'm not sure if Kirt was in the military at the time or ever caught a game at Fair Grounds Field now Independence Stadium. We never went to a game, but I remember seeing highlights on TV since I lived in Longview. I grew up with Bob Griffin and Reasor Bowden who were the sports editors/broadcasters for KSLA 12 CBS and KTBS 3 ABC back in the day. Rarely did we watch John Bass "Son Son" on KLTV 7 ABC. I know since Kirt's from Waskom, TX he probably remembers all three as well.

  8. His Dad was a coach as well, and even coached the Houston Texans in 1974. That's for WestHardinfan. The Texans weren't very good under the direction of Jim Garrett while in Houston, and they had to move to Shreveport as the Steamer to try and make it. Of course the Steamer team couldn't make it and folded much like the CFL Shreveport Pirates under the direction of Forrest Gregg. https://funwhileitlasted.net/2013/01/28/1974-houston-texans-wfl/

  9. If Jerruh keeps the Clapper in ANY capacity other than supervising the janitors, it will backfire on him ....

  10. Garrett never played for Coach Landry, but he did for play for 5 games under Coach Johnson. 4 seasons under Switzer, and 2 seasons under Chan Gailey. and didn't last long in New York only being on the roster for two games. I know his dad was a scout for the Cowboys while under Coach Landry in 1987 and 1988, he remained a scout until 2004. His brother Judd works for the Cowboys front office however. There is still no reason to keep Garrett around. If Jerry is going to do this it needs to be done immediately. Fans do not need Jason's shadow over the team if a move is to be made. That's why I'm leaning towards Jerry signing him to another contract, but I think he'll be given a short rope. I think it should have been cut years ago.

  15. Gilmer dropped a TD pass to potentially go up 35 to 13. If Gilmer would have scored then that greatest team ever would have shut it down.

  16. Most definitely they really should make a movie or a documentary about them . Worse than Dallas Carter in the 80s.

  17. I know you're joking, but Herman's MO at Texas has been to play down to bad teams and up to good teams. If they played every game the way they did last night or vs LSU, they'd be scary good

  21. No. Hell no!! I really enjoyed watching that 2014 Gilmer team. Went and watched them 3 times. But there has never been a small school with a team like Carthage had in 2017. Elite everywhere. Mykel Gates and Ahmad Brown at LB were both 6’ 225-230, playing like they had kids to feed. That was the most complete small school team I have ever seen. Even in the Gilmer game they were down 28-13 I think at half and won 48-28. Who does that? That was a decent Gilmer team too. I have never seen a team that could do all the things they did. That playoff run was insane. What they did against Silsbee in the 1st half should be illegal. Set offensive records in the championship game. Only place Gilmer might have had an advantage was at QB. Just cause y’alls kid was a senior. That’s it.

  23. Did you hear Saban's remarks before the half about them not playing their assignments? He was mad... You can tell they've made the proper adjustments in the second half. That's why he's the best. Or top 2 at the very least.

  24. Carthage 2017 most dominant hands down. Lot of worthy champions but that one sticks out. Newton had a couple of close scares in route to their Championship.

  25. That’s on Coach Smart. He can’t get his players motivated to play vs a top10 team in a major bowl. It’s why his teams consistently fall short because they are more concerned about the name on the back of the jersey instead of the front.

  26. The motivation factor is a coaching problem. If you can’t get kids to be motivated to compete against other kids that’s a you problem. These kids will compete in ping pong or pool in the players lounge but a Sugar bowl vs a top 10 team....no they’d rather not. Im not sure why SEC teams get to use the motivation excuse but also scream their slogan of “It just means more”.

  27. Call me a dreamer, and a tad foolish, but I think something big is going on in Jerry Jones mind right now. The firing of Jason Garrett could have been handled in thirty minutes. My dream world scenario is; Jerry is putting in place a new GM and high profile coach. Or at least a direction he wants to go. This decision will have a lot of pieces, and Jerry is busy putting all those pieces together. Jerry Jones is as aware of his less than stellar performance the last twenty years, and the media criticisms, that followed as we are. At some point he has to come to the realization that for his business model to succeed he has to start winning games. That is what he is in business to do. I believe his frustration will drive him to it. Now, I am well aware their are franchises in the NFL where mediocrity is fine with them, but that ain't Texas, and they ain't the Dallas Cowboys. There is too much excellent tradition behind this team to continue this way. Jerry has to make a bold move here, and my gut tells me he will. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

  29. I’m not going to freak out about a kid decommitting halfway through his junior year of high school. It does make getting Chandler Morris in the 2020 class much more important IMO.
