One sign was about the intelligence of all Longview High students, another was a racial slur held by a white Whitehouse student. The game was a bi district volleyball match up between Longview and Whitehorse, that the Lady Lobos won in convincing fashion. Both reporters reported it to the Whitehouse staff that was present, and both signs were removed before the match ended.

I was never a Kobe or Lakers fan. I will say he was a great basketball player. I was thinking this today though. Since the announcement of his death I have seen more articles on it, as well as Sports Radio talking about his passing than any other public figure in my lifetime. I would somewhat compare his death to Thurman Munson who should be in the MLB HOF since he died at the pinnacle of his career in a plane crash or Dale Earnhardt who passed at the tail end of his career while racing at the Daytona 500 in 2001. There have been notable deaths in my lifetime from Elvis Presley, John Belushi, John Lennon, Princess Diana, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger, Prince, Robin Williams, and I could name many more. I wasn't around when President John F. Kennedy or his brother Robert F. were assassinated, but it seems there have been more stories and talk of his passing than any other person. It seems odd to me that he has been talked about more than any other in my lifetime. Maybe it's social media or the media in general. My condolences to those that idolized him.

In just their fourth season of existence, the hockey team at ETBU is headed to the playoffs. The Tigers complete in the Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference with The University of Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Christian University, University of North Texas, Dallas Baptist, UT- El Paso, and Texas State University. They will play in Mansfield February 6-8th against an opponent to be determined. It will either be Texas A&M or the University of Texas. Those two have a critical two game series this weekend while ETBU will travel to Fayetteville to take on the University of Arkansas in a non-conference game. ETBU defeated UT 4-0, 7-3 in their series back in September. The lone loss the Tigers have on their record was a 5-4 heartbreaker to Texas A&M. ETBU and A&M tied in their second game 3-3 with the Aggies taking it in a shootout. ------- On a side note..... ETBU announced they will be starting a Lacrosse team. They will compete in the Lone Star Alliance (conference), which is a part of the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association. They will be in the Division III bracket with Texas A&M, Houston, Louisiana Tech, A&M Corpus, Tarleton, Hardin-Simmons, Trinity, and Incarnate Word. Should be a nice addition. I'm assuming they will play at Ornelas Stadium, home of ETBU football.

It just amazes me that people say that you will not vote for Obama cause he's black, but yet we never mention the fact that he is black.
