Most definitely over reaction. And the media is absolutely to blame for some of this hysteria. People have lost their minds. But a simple understanding of virology, transmission, and the unknown of how long, how many, and how severe this thing can go makes these cancellations and postponements the only choice. All it would take is ONE death of a high school student for it to be rendered a bad decision to play on. No school wants that on their hands. No team. No sport. The UIL most definitely not. Sure.... MOST people will recover quickly with little more than an inconvenience. Unfortunately......there is absolutely no way of predicting which HEALTHY patients could be that tiny percent that die.

I'm not a sheep being manipulated by a politically motivated propagandist media.....its infectious but flu kills a LOT more than this will......all this bs is pure over reaction being fed by propaganda.....

Exactly correct...where was all the doomsday reactions when Obama and Biden did absolutely NOTHNG for FOUR MONTHS as over 1,000 people died and over 50,000 people contracted the Swine Flu????? The media is all in to ruin the incredible economy we have going...THATS the reason for the CKICKEN LITTLE reactions.

Should I come down with anything, I'm not going to spread whatever I have to anyone. I'll stay in bed, sleep, rest, and recover. I know my body well enough when I can go out and not infect others. I might go to Pancho's for a booster shot. However, if I should come down with something I'll self quarantine to recover. I know how to take care of my body in case of illnesses.

I won't be quarantined as long as I have my guns....NEVER let anyone quarantine you or put you in a camp....its better to die on your feet than to live on your knees....i teach this to all my students.....

Do you really think major-league baseball the NCAA tournament, NBA basketball would all give up millions of dollars in revenue over an overreaction to this virus? You think they’re stupid? Follow the money. Mav is absolutely correct. I have read all of the statistics and all the math involved with how this thing spreads. You can say oh it’s just the flu but tell that to the 70 year old with CPD who gets it. Risk / reward can’t even be calculated. Are people overreacting? Of course, that’s human nature.

I love the wild accusations from China... Let's blame the US Army... Tell me how 1 US person, in the military contracted the virus in the US... lived with it for a while, visited China, coughed in the Wuhan market, then came back to the US then suddenly has the infection AFTER hundreds of Chinese people came up with symptoms. As a healthcare worker (Emergency room)……. I totally understand why they are cancelling these events. The risk/reward is too great. All we would need is ONE player...coach....fan.... to get infected and die.... and people would be questioning why the even wasn't postponed or cancelled. It's lose/lose from the PR standpoint either way. But from the healthcare standpoint.... it makes sense not possibly creating mass exposures. Cancelling will no doubt put less people at risk of exposure. But I also can't deny that the media hasn't fanned the flames of hysteria. The amount of misinformation out there is unreal. I'm one of the biggest sports fans out there. I'm gutted that March Madness won't be played. Sad about MLB and NBA. But I can't deny.....as a healthcare worker.... that cancelling/postponing is just the smartest and safest thing to do.

I was listening to the College Sports Station this morning on XM Radio and this and some other decisions that the NCAA made took the schools and AD’s by surprise. From what I gather it sounds like some of this may be reconsidered depending on how this initial quarantine works out.

I have been "self quarantined" for years ... have always taken steps to reduce the risk of being exposed/infected to the dangers of the world viruses and illnesses ... I don't need or want the government telling me what to do .... A COUNTRY BOY CAN SURVIVE!!! ....

I risk my life today. Went to KFC. Food was good and no ill effects so far.

I have a 403B, which is educator specific, and it has low risks and medium risks, as a part of my plan. Lots of people this will devastate if they were about to retire and can't wait for a rebound.

That's not me, Hortense, because I do have a steady job, not hourly, with state insurance, but you might look outside in your community and most in Texas, and you will find plenty that this describes. This is a uniquely terrible and historic situation unfolding, so this doesn't really have a precedent, in my opinion. We have 10 million people who have 'gigs' out there, and this could be devastating to them, not to mention small businesses, farmers, and people who were already struggling due to the tariff war.

Ordinary people, every day people, Democrats and Republicans, are going to be impacted most by event cancellations, school closings, restaurant business going way down, travel and tourism taking a huge hit, and that doesn't make anyone happy. What IS possibly going to be revealed by this is how many people live pay check to pay check and without health insurance in this 'booming' economy. What is the White House going to do to get us back on our feet?

If I had an infectious disease I don't have a problem with being quarantined in my own home. I'm not going to any hospital, camp, or health facility. I saw where the one building in China fell with patients, doctors, and nurses in the building. I've never heard of them in the U.S. except for immigrants.

Seems a little premature to cancel the CWS and WCWS.

Trump knows he can and might win that's why everyone on the right is throwing everything they can at him on the media and hes still leading..... November 2020 is going to be epic
