IMO Mathis was a great motivator (although his motivation was a double edged sword) and a mediocre on-field coach due to very questionable play calling / decisions.....no one can argue that he put together a great coaching staff. Coach Griedl is the real deal.....what he has done to improve the athletic facilities (along with Dr. Gibson) is incredible.......he's also changed the culture in a very positive way, and the kids really buy into it....he's also retained / tweaked the staff into just as good or better staff than Mathis put together....and no comparison in the on-field coaching aspect. Things happen for a reason.....Marshall was lucky to get Mathis (agreeing that he never intended to stay) to build somewhat on what Clint Harper started, but Marshall was also lucky that Mathis had a love affair with DeSoto, and were lucky enough to to have a top notch replacement in Jake Griedl waiting in the wings (can't thank Mathis enough for that), and an administration smart enough to put their faith in Jake. Now, the problem is programs around the state see that Coach Griedl is not only an excellent coach, but a high class individual and administrator....we're just praying that we can keep him in the Maverick family for an extended time.

Think of this; Portland , Seattle, & Chicago have been virtually destroyed by BLM & Antifa anarchists, leaving many areas void of police protection. I won’t watch a single game. I won’t listen to a game. Sunday’s for me is usually cleaning my house with my fantasy notifications popping up. When I did watch the NFL it was only to watch the Saints... and since Drew Brees suddenly became woke, I won’t watch him methodically pick apart defenses either. Fantasy football is just another app on my phone to keep me entertained while doing stuff that generally pisses me off

I agree.....to my knowledge no 4th place team has ever not shown up to play a district champion, even when playing the North Shores (or Katy's, Longview's, Aledo's, Cathage's, etc.), of the world, which leads me to believe those kids want to play that extra game. It's more football, even if it is ugly more often than not. I think that those who complain are the ones who walked five miles to school..... in the snow...... barefooted.

Was that district all that soft? Bells was a 3rd round team, Blue Ridge went 2nd round and Whitewright gave Harmony all they could handle as the 4 seed. I’d say it was stronger than people wanted to give it credit for.

It's individual players. The League is simply allowing them to show that they do not love America. I rarely watch the pre-game hoopla and have only seen them sing the National Anthem on television for a Super Bowl. I haven't watched an entire Super Bowl since 1996. I'm playing for fun and possible bragging rights. I'm not playing because some of the NFL players are going to disrespect the American Flag.

Should be completed in early November before district play is complete. Can also see a longshot view of Lady Mav field getting prepared for its turf installation. Can’t see Mav field, but it’s installation is also underway.
