I guess I don't see the benefit of teaching "ball control" to that extent or in this specific context. To me, I'd certainly place more value on controlled movement and scoring ... which you have to do, eventually, to win the game. As a former sportswriter, I sat through a number of games where teams would literally stand with the ball and wouldn't move until forced to do so. That's not coaching. That's not teaching. That's not benefitting anyone. Not to mention, it's horrendous to watch.

Actually Texas could have. While Texas wealth back then was based on two things cattle and cotton, we weren't a plantation state. Some of the wealthy families did own slaves, but it wasn't widespread especially in West Texas. Many slaves did work the farms in Texas, but it wasn't as widespread as you make it out to be. I would say that maybe the Revolution with Mexico had maybe 5% to do with slavery for the wealthy that chose secession, but the 90% of it had to do with representation, because the governing seat was in Coahuila with only 1 representative. The seed had already been planted however when the fight for Independence against Spain in 1813. So there were a lot of sour grapes that grew for 23 years. Then there was racism against the Tejanos since they weren't a part of Mexico, and they were seen as outsiders. Then you had cultural differences mainly based on religion, most of the immigrants were protestant, but they were supposed to convert to the Catholic Church which was recognized by both Spain and Mexico as the national religion. Slavery had little to do with the Revolution of Texas, because cowboys of all colors rode the ranges of Texas back then. Many of those cowboys or vaquero's were free black or interracial. I'm sure back then you could barely tell the difference from being out in the sun all day. They sound worse than almost any other country next to England where the sun wouldn't set on the Union Jack across the globe.

Well...I do know some of the Hale family from my High School days here in Longview and from Insurance sales...and unless they're cousins,etc. to the Williams family they're not that closely related...ok ? I cannot speak for Malcolm Kelly or his relatives because I simply do not know. Well, to be fair, I think we need to draw a distinction between liberals and leftists. I'm liberal to an extent on some stuff. While I may disagree with self described liberals on a great many topics, I've found you can at least engage in a civilized dialogue with them.
