To be fair, WO thought Harelton and Ore City would be good competition when making their schedule 2 seasons ago coming off that 0-10 season. Clown #1 has checked in4 points

We have to protect the feelings of the kids!!! And we have to protect the feelings of the parents!!! Listen, I think the celebrations are over the top sometimes. But unless they are specifically doing something to rub it in the face of the other team, like standing over them flexing, throwing the ball at them, it shouldn't be a penalty. Let the coaches and the parents of those players determine what is acceptable. My kid will know when he's crossed the line, believe me. I won't need a 15 yard penalty to let him know.3 points

Ya'll do realize that you can return all 22 starters from a losing team, but if none of the players have improved in the slightest...well, that just leaves you with a slightly more experienced losing team. Miller wouldn't change the outcome of what Legacy is about to do to JT. The district lines are the district lines, its about time we all get over that. That excuse is overused and outdated. That literally has zero to do with why JT can't be competitive with TH. 24-10? Sure. Anyone who watched that game knows that TH was easily 25 points better than JT. While there is a definite drop in the talent pool at JT, with the talent on hand, you should be able to scheme your way to being competitive. All I seen this past Friday night was a team that has become accustomed to losing. They don't seem confident in anything they're doing. They almost seem like they expect to lose. All these losses look exactly the same. Tough break for the kids. I hope they know that due to past success (that a lot of them weren't even born to see) not one team is gonna feel sorry for em. My guess is they'll continue to be bullied all season long. This one should be over fairly early though. Pains me to say, Lee by at least 24 points....at the half lol.2 points

Looks like we all agree to disagree, nothing wrong with that!!! Let the boys ball as long as it's respectful and doesn't hurt someone's "feelings", it makes the game that more interesting when these young players put in work and it pays off as they enjoy a big hit or whatever the cause may be, it doesn't bother me at all as long as it doesn't cross the lines... I can't figure out how they grow up in households has anything to do with celebrating a TD, big hit or omething .... my boy plays young ball and has scored many TD's as a RB and WR and has never been flagged for "taunting" although some players have cause what they did was uncalled for which is not the whole argument here, some are arguing nothing should be allowed which takes away from the excitement of the game... I guess the refs need to throw a flag after a big hit was made and the opposing teams fan base on the sidelines got hyped up to much and loud, freedom? Pshhh yeah right.... SMH2 points

Exactly! But it also starts at home...if they are taught how to act, and have role models at home you won't see that problem.2 points

Bears by a bunch. Good chance for Coach Gamble to measure his squad against one of the best in East Texas right now. Coach T has built a powerhouse over there.2 points

Two of our top 5 kids are on the shelf for at least 8 weeks. Depending on what the MRI shows, one of them may be done for the season. Judging from what some of the EF guys were saying on their game thread, we might need to name this game The Sports Medicine Bowl.2 points

https://www.smoaky.com/pickem.php Deadline, Thursday, 6:00pm CT. And, this year we are asking for three pieces of information in case you win, name, hometown and email. If you are among the Top 2 during each week I'll reach out to you for your mailing address and depending on East and/or Central Texas will be what you receive, gift certificate from Fuddruckers (Central Texas) or Jersey Mike's (East Texas). We've combined all of the games to include elite statewide games and should make it even more competitive. If a game is canceled and not played it will go down as a win for either team for this weekly promotion. This link will change out sometime each weekend with the newest games, usually by Sunday afternoon. Thank you. (Side-note: I asked Bear9T1 if he wanted to start this thread since Timpson is the heavy favorite! He said for me to go ahead. Lol) The Alto Yellowjackets (11-2A D1) will travel to Timpson to take on the #3 Bears (10-2A D1) this Friday. The Jackets stumbled out of the gate with a 48-18 loss to Troup while the Bears soundly defeated Frankston 61-0. The Jackets lead the series 30-16-1 but lost to the state semi-finalists 40-6 last year. The last time Timpson defeated Alto two years in a row was in 2003 and 2004. Seems like a tall task for the Jackets, who are learning a new system under Coach Gamble, but that’s why you play the game, right? The Jackets will have to limit mistakes (too many turnovers vs Troup!) and play with their hair on fire every down to have any hope of upsetting the Bears. I’m a homer and never pick against my Jackets so I’m going Alto by 7. Some folks are saying Timpson by fiddy. We’ll see Friday night! It’s the BATTLE OF THE BLACK & GOLD and IT’S ON!! GOOOOOO JACKETS! STING ‘EM!!1 point

The moves coach T has made on defense this year we’re lights out against Frankston. It’s gonna be interesting to see if we can keep that intensity up moving forward. Offensively this is the most TALENT and SPEED I’ve ever seen at Timpson. Weapons everywhere you look...options are plentiful. I fully expect Alto to bring everything they have for 4 quarters of great football!!1 point

#9 does a great job running the offense, and he’s a weapon with his feet as well. But he really sets the tone for their defense. Really did a great job coming up from that safety spot to stop the run. Very good downhill tackler.1 point

King better ball out this year and leave no doubt because I'm not convinced Weigman doesn't start next year if there's a true battle. That performance last night was something different all together... Weigman has the X factor for sure.1 point

Sometimes the other guy is better than you. I thought this year would be different than last year's meeting. Boy was I dead wrong! Will we win 9-10 games this year...prolly so. But will we be able to beat the HP's and Ryan's this year.... Right now it looks real feasible Legacy finally get W this year over Longview after 20 years. One thing for sure...we didn't deserve to be playing in primetime today.1 point

Well it is a huge disappointment to lose the app. Even if it had worked last night it is not even a shadow of the previous ap. If they bought it just improve it or keep it the same. No need to re-invent the wheel. The old one was fine especially after they finally got it on servers that could handle thousands of crazed high school football fans. I expect more from Texas Football, I have bought the issue every year since 1984 and am a current subscriber. I got my scores on Smoaky and KXII channel 12 in Sherman. During the game I got an occasional connection but even then the list of scores were not updated - I could only see the score if I drilled down to a game and said I was a score changer. But this was only about 10% functional. The old app was a big part of a fun Friday night. I hate to see it go.1 point

I just want to see us show up expecting to beat the favorites (and rightfully so) in our region. Don’t believe in laying down for anyone and who better to go out and see than the cream of the crop. I’m fully aware of what we look like right now, and that we are clearly going to be in for a hell of a night against a hell of a team. But I wanna see us be physical and for Timpson to at least have to earn what they get, knowing when it’s done that they had to actually play us. Very tall order for us this week.1 point

Did Smoaky take over a perfectly operable site and make arbitrary and unnecessary changes that rendered it inoperable? Nope. I understand that some growing pains are expected and inevitable, but this isn't a case of growing pains. This is an absolute botched roll out. Nothing was right. From the very bottom to the very top - it was bad. Just bad.1 point

I absolutely think it was a server or bandwidth issue. It got overwhelmed by the number of connections being made and couldn’t handle it.1 point

For his first ever varsity start I thought he performed pretty well. Underthrew a couple guys, but had some throws that were perfect too. Things will start slowing down for him and he will see the field better with more reps.1 point

There are only 3 players in the last 5 years ranked as high or higher than Manning and those are Ewers, Lawrence and Fields.1 point

I don't know if he'll be another Archie Manning or Peyton Manning in ability, but I think his signing, again, would be a big signing that would attract other "big starred" talent to continue stockpiling. It's building the incredible depth that the Horns need...then the homerun's really bring everyone up even more.1 point
