It could very well go that way. This is the first year I can confidently say that I'm not 100% confident in who wins (if that makes sense?) lol. It's always a great game, but I always expected A&M to win. They've just been better the past 10 years. But I'm genuinely intrigued by Arkansas. They don't look completely incompetent like they have the past few years. Match that with a good A&M team and I expect another thriller.

For the first time ALL YEAR Coach Metzel benched a starter for unsportsmanlike conduct in the Lindale game. That's something that should have been done in the first three games to all THREE of the players that can't play with discipline. I don't care if we win or lose. If a player can't play with class, he doesn't need to be on the field. I don't have a problem if it just from being overly aggressive in the midst of a play, but flagrantly taunting after the play should not be allowed, and isn't by officials. Yes, we "should've" beaten Lindale by a bunch more points, but we made critical mistakes at critical points in the game that kept Lindale in it longer than they should've been. Lindale is definitely no slouch of a team, and they play the game the right way. They are well coached for sure. If we make those kind of mistakes in the Carthage game..., let's just say it won't be pretty. I think if we play with focus and discipline we can give them a very good game, and may even upset them if we don't make mistakes and Carthage does. That being said, I would be tickled pink to see the Buckeyes play a complete game with focus and discipline, win or lose. Carthage has been better than us for a few years now. It's time we evened things up a bit. Whether this is the team that's going to step up and play a good game against Carthage and let the chips fall where they may is yet to be seen.

I also think this will be a good game. Gilmer will need to clean up the mistakes and penalties though. If they can, might be closer than expected. I look for Carthage to be Carthage though. Surratt will have them ready even though they haven’t played in a couple of weeks. Best Defense in 4A against one of the best offenses. Hopefully both teams come out injury free and leave it all on the field.

You've done nothing but carry water for the state of Arkansas since you've been on this board. I understand why you're upset. This game was a revelation that you didn't like- that Arkansas High School Football is not in the same universe as Texas High School Football. A team that has easily won your largest division the last several years came down to Texas and got smacked by a rebuilding team full of sophomores. The far and away best of Arkansas football couldn't keep the game close against Longview who is not the best that Texas has to offer this season. But here's some solace- you're in good company with Louisiana! Longview beat Evangel in 2002, Evangel in 04, West Monroe in 05, John Curtis in 07, Neville in 14... All of them won state in those respective seasons. So Arkansas is FAR from alone when it comes to states that are inferior to Texas when it comes to football.

Yeah, I think Longview and HP have sorta righted the ship. West is improved, more so than I thought they'd be prior to the season. Wylie East is improved...JT is playing a bit better now that the correct QB is starting. Sherman and McKinney North....I cannot figure them out at all. McKinney North has done a nose dive since Week 1. They have talent and always seem to make it into the postseason but man.... was not pretty predistrict for them. Sherman will win a game one week and look awful the next.

Lindale is 1-3 but their Non-District Opponents are a combined 14-1 (with the one loss being Lindale over Pine Tree) Mabank is 4-0 but their non district opponents are a combined 2-13 Lindale should win handily but when you're 1-3 you have no right to overlook any opponent IMO.

Never said Carthage was better than Gilmer. Said Carthage May lose. Gilmer is loaded with athletes. Very explosive. Carthage is still trying to find their identity on offense. Hopefully the long break have them a chance to figure some things out. As far as WOS, I think you should really worry about them getting to a game with Carthage. Their signature win right now is over a 3A-D2 team, and it wasn’t extremely dominant. Both teams have a ways to go to get to a matchup. I know you are proud of the history down there, and you should be. Just remember, Carthage’s history is recent…really recent. Not just reliving the old days. The dude with 8 rings is still the captain of the ship and he’s just as hungry as ever.

There was no missed 15 yard penalty. You play until the whistle and that's what happened. There was a bunch of missed holding calls on Bryant though.

Idk what you think you have seen to make you believe that somehow the well has run dry in Carthage, but it’s far from over. But whatever helps you sleep at night, buddy. I promise you that in the still unlikely event that it isn’t Carthage, it will be Gilmer or someone else. It won’t be WOS. A 40-26 win over Newton looks worse than anything I’ve seen from Carthage this year. And that’s no offense to Newton, but an “elite” 4A Div 2 school should win by a lot more than that against a small 3A school.
