  2. I legit wonder. Last week against Miss St we didn’t call any blitzes whatsoever. Looked extremely vanilla on defense. And then vs Bama we were bringing blitzes from every which direction. For how vanilla our offense and defense looked last week, they were that much more creative this week.

  5. That's not the one he's talking about. He was referring to the 3rd and long play, in the 1st quarter, when OU went for 29 yards on the play. Prior to the WR catching the ball, he went out of bounds on his own. By rule, that's illegal touching and OU should have been punting. Instead, they review the call, let it stand, and OU went down to score and make it 14-0. There's absolutely no excuse for Texas blowing a 28-7 lead, but 28-0 also does much more to a teams psyche than 14-7 does.

  6. The defense had a great game plan for Rattler and gave up 13 points to the offense he led. (the TD was heavily aided by a missed called on 3rd &10 when the WR stepped out of bounds.

  7. Tough loss to take last night but there were a lot of things to like about where Sark can take this program. Sark had a great game plan coming into the game and I don’t think OU would’ve stopped the Texas offense if the Oline wasn’t so bad. As I pointed out in the shootout thread, Texas had 6 second half drives and 3 were doomed by Oline penalties and a 4th drive was ended with heavy pressure on the QB. For the first time that I can remember Texas had the best WR on the field in the RRS. Worthy was a stud yesterday and even after his costly turnover he came back and had 4 catches and a 31 yd TD catch to tie the game. The defense had a great gam plan for Rattler and gave up 13 points to the offense he led. (the TD was heavily aided by a missed called on 3rd &10 when the WR stepped out of bounds. The other TD was the 4th &1 run by Williams) The defense was not prepared for Caleb Williams and the young QB had the game of his life. Even when he was pressured and hit his passes found OU receivers. He threw a TD on a 3rd &10 where he got a bad snap and had pressure in his face after picking it up, he stepped up rolled right and hit his man in the endzone. Special teams had another punt block and Dicker made his FGs. Worthy and RoJo had mental errors bringing KO out of the endzone. RoJo brought his out to the 18 and the drive went 3&out after a sack on 1st down. Worthy obviously we remember the fumble. Texas is a much more improved team from game 2 to game 6 and that’s nice to see. Texas also has a coach that can out scheme his opponents and that’s nice to see. Texas is lacking at offensive tackle and pass rusher. Those two things won’t be fixed this year but this program is headed in the right direction and I think Sark was the correct hire.

  8. I want to give a big shout out to Zach Calzada for his performance tonight. I was his harshest critic and he deserved so much of it, but he rose to the occasion tonight and trusted an his offensive line in a masterful performance. Not so much the stat line but just how well he played compared to how limited he's looked the last 4 games. And that final drive... Coming in after what I thought was a blown out knee and executing a beautiful drive with even a strong scramble to grab a first down.... Young man you earned every bit of that tonight. Being carried off the field is something not many people for very many teams have ever accomplished and you deserve that after a gutsy performance.

  9. I don’t honestly think a coach would do that purposely to the point where they lose a game because of it. A&M still had legit playoff hopes heading into last week. Winning out with their only loss to Arkansas would’ve put them in SEC championship and directly in the playoff picture. Now if you want to say Jimbo and company said to heck with it, let’s throw caution to the wind, let em hang and see what happens, I’d agree with that.

They’re thousands in the medical field who do not trust this shot. I guess Trump did do something right for you after all. You libtards are as gullible and sad as those Qtards. In your own little way, of coarse. Listen. If you’re in favor of a guy being able to tuck it back and declare he is a woman, you lost any credibility when you suggest a person can’t choose whether they receive a shot or not. Especially when those shots come from companies that are given full immunity from any civil litigation.

  18. That was a great photo. Can't get a better look than that. As for the officials, eh, there were a few calls that could have gone the other way. The only obvious one to me was that 3rd down play where the WR stepped out first. Other than that, Texas didn't lose this game because of the officials.

  19. Game of inches. Texas Wr Washington had a very similar catch in the 3rd quarter but he couldn’t get his toe in bounds. This was not the one I was referring to in my summary above. I was referring to the first TD that was aided by the 3rd &10 reception that was allowed to stand although the receiver went out of bounds on his own and then caught the ball further down the field.

  21. It’s a rivalry game, busted plays, turnovers, and momentum is part of the game. You won the game by a touchdown and the officials gave you your first score. Congratulations on the win and finding the right QB in the process. Good luck the rest of the season.

  23. It amazed me last night watching that game how Calzada (mainly) and the team went from the Arkansas game to beating Alabama. The Aggies totally outplayed the Crimson Tide. The A&M defensive front was awesome last night and made the apparent Heisman contending Bama QB look bad on many plays. Last night is exactly why the games have to be played. None of us ever really know what’s going to happen or what can happen. The whole world thought Calzada would be deer in the headlights all night versus Alabama and he was great, sports are just crazy and so enjoyable. What a great day for Calzada and his family. I think he probably learned some life lessons through his own play. He was down and out, not wanted by his own fans (and that’s NOT a swipe at Aggie fans) and he had to have been doubting his own abilities. Calzada obviously hung tough, prepared for Alabama as best he could and executed magnificently. And then the fans carried Calzada off the field, movies are made depicting these kinds of things. Respect. Also, the entire team just came in ready to ball. The fans in the stadium were pumped and confident from the start. Last night is surely one of, if not, the very greatest win in A&M history. This will not have a negative impact on recruiting, ha!

  24. Now that the constant talk of how BAMA is so dominant and going to sleepwalk to another title has been flushed, maybe some people will listen to me and Nick when we talk about how flawed we are as a team. He said it all week. The “experts” refuse to listen to the guy they call the GOAT, because it doesn’t fit their narrative. They need a team to be “unbeatable” because it makes for a better story when someone does what A&M did last night. The RRR, Arkansas/ Ole Miss, and the A&M upset probably combined to boost TV ratings to their highest in years. But back to my flawed Crimson Tide. #1. Bryce Young is going to be an outstanding QB. He’s still very young, and he needs to learn that there are times he has to tuck the ball and run with it to pick up 2-3 yards to transition 1st and 10 into 2nd and 7 as opposed to 2nd and 16. Sometimes your all of your 5* receivers are covered. #2. I’m still not convinced that Bill O’Brien is a great offensive mind. We had 5 really good drives that netted 9 points because we decided to pass inside the 10 yard line against a defense that’s at least as good as ours. This used to not be an issue when we ran the “Elephant Package” in that situation. #3. Pete Golding ain’t Kirby Smart. I don’t care if your best DB gets ejected on the 4th snap for a BS targeting call. Giving up 34 to a backup QB is not BAMA defense. Jimbo schooled Golding, plain and simple. #4. As much as the media has made of them, Jahleel Billingsley and John Metchie fell flat on their faces. Multiple drops by both. Billingsley dropped 3 3rd down conversions. If you want to play in the NFL, get some of the stuff that Archie Griffin has on his hands in the Nissan commercials. #5. Can we finally dispense with the “Nick Saban doesn’t lose to former assistants” talk? It’s over. It was bound to happen eventually. Don’t act shocked when it does. Congrats to the Aggie fans on a great win.

  27. Wellllll, I'm gonna speak to some of these issues, then I'm gonna disable notifications and abandon this thread... As an admitted johnny-come-lately and a hired gun, I don't have near the amount of skin in the game as 9/10th of the guys who post on Lobo threads. I haven't put in the time or tears that most of y'all have. I'm totally "new money" and a shameless sunshine pumper. I don't pretend to be anything different. At the end of the day, I'm just happy to be here. So please take my takes with that in mind... 1.) I don't care how much you think Tweet, or comment, or research, or break down film: there ain't a single one of us who take the losses as hard as the kids in those uniforms or the coaches on that sideline. Period. No matter how frustrated you think you are, it simply cannot compare to what they experience. These are coaches who work 6 and 7-day weeks, 12 and 16-hour days. These are men and women with families and lives outside of work, that don't really exist from July through June. No amount of money is worth that. Also, these are kids who go to school all day, have homework and tests, have relationship drama or hard home lives or emotional issues. They're also living in an extremely weird and complicated and polarized time right now. Far more so than the relatively halcyon days many of us enjoyed. Any one of them who "doesn't care" about winning or losing quite simply would've been eaten alive by junior high. They all care, and they all want to win. Every game. State, every year. 2.) In principle, I disagree with calling out this or that player. At the end of the day, even the oldest of them are only on the cusp of adulthood. Sure, 18 is "legally" an adult, but every one of you guys knows the difference between teenage "man" and a full grown man. I try to keep an encouraging posture with all of them, regardless of the situation, because I can't help see all of them as "just kids." BUT, at the same time... Lobo Nation is different. It's not better or worse, it's just different. The kids who come up through the grade school all have a certain intensity that isn't like other places. Doesn't matter if you're playing peewee league or church league or even during recess: there is an expectation of excellence. I see my 9-year-old son barking orders pre-snap or upbraiding teammates for slacking, and I see the kids who either roll their eyes or shrug and walk away. Some kids can't hack it, some kids have the dog in them. Only the strong survive. 3.) It is so easy for me, from the comfort of anonymity and the pristine perception of hindsight, to roll my eyes and say, "Wouldn't have called that play." Or perhaps, "King should start Smith instead of Jones!" It's safe and comfortable to do when you're free from the bounds of accountability or responsibility. But that's a sword that cuts both ways... as the top dog of Lobo Nation, John King understands that he is probably going to get too much credit for wins and too much blame for losses. He ain't a daisy, he knows how it works. His name is next to every win and every loss, and he's a big enough man to put it there and sleep soundly every night. No, even I don't agree with every decision or call, but I damn sure respect the hell out of a man who does the job he does. That goes for everything we see on Friday nights, and everything none of you see the other six days of the week. No, he's not above criticism, but he's also more than worthy of respect. They all are. We're all so lucky to be a part of this. We would all live a little better if we tried to enjoy all this a little more. Lobo up.

  30. This was the team A&M fans expected prior to the season. A great offensive backfield. An experienced defense. Then the injury to the QB happened and the wheels fell off. Calzada has grown a ton in the last 3 weeks. Didn’t even recognize him out there tonight.

  32. I believe Lindale will take this one pretty easily but that second half against Henderson is concerning. Losing Patrick Daniels in the 3rd quarter hurt us and honestly I feel the coaching was very conservative the second have. They barely threw at all the second half. I do understand that thinking though. If your up by 4 scores then it’s smart to run the ball and run the clock without a chance of interceptions. That being said Henderson made some good adjustments at the half and came back out ready to play.

  34. I don't think there needs to be to big over reaction to this game. It is a game against your biggest rival and a lot of weird things have happen in this game. Stars have been born in this game and Caleb Williams is one of them. I can't say enough about someone who did not even play in High School last year and showed the poised he did in this game. It happens. He is going to be hard to deal with in the next couple of years. I did not expect Texas to win every game this year. Wanted to see improvement and at least 9 tp 10 wins and go from their for the 1st year. Still a lot of season left.

  35. Workers...especially low end workers...have had enough. They are through being exploited...they are through with poor working conditions...they are through with employers that expect them to do two people's job because the business is under staffed even during normal times...they are through with sub-standard wages and benefits...they are through with the business communities war on the working poor. They are just seeking the same rights and benefits workers in truly advanced countries take for granted. I believe workers will flock back if the US business model (maximize profits at any cost to workers) changes. I am on their side.

  36. What are you talking about? King is one of the highest paid coaches in the state. Longview gives him all the tools he needs to be successful (at least that’s what it looks like from the outside). Have you watched Longview play this year (and this is not a new problem)? They make way to many mistakes for a program the caliber of the Lobos. Anybody can see it. When you are getting 14-15 penalties a game that’s a problem. The QB situation is obvious. I know that’s frustrating. I’ve had fun following the Lobos this year, but some of the stuff is like beating your head against the wall when you see the same things over and over. There is a difference in bashing a coach and voicing criticism. These coaches are not above being criticized. Promise you they can see it too. The mistakes Longview makes right now does not equate to championship football at any level. It’s just that most of the times the Lobos have so many dudes that they are able to overcome most of their mistakes.

  37. Man he took Longview to another level in football there is no denying this. Do I have gripes about his play-calling and running the Qb back and forth to sidelines like peewee league...mis-managing of the talent Longview has had since 2004 the unforgivable not calling a timeout in 2010 to atleast prepare your team for the blocked punt that everybody in the stands knew was coming...the 2016 Lake Ridge end of game play-calling...2006 Garland game. He's stubborn and bullheaded like all men but he's earned the right to leave on his terms.

Some of you have received "points" or been assigned ranks, which is hilarious because for some of you who've been here over ten years you've received the rank "Newbie." Well, this was sprung on us too, and we're in the process of sorting it out and cleaning everything up. So just bear with us and pardon the mess. This should be worked out in the next couple days.
