  1. Espada will be the new Astros coach. Was the most logical choice. Not sure why they waited
  2. Rooting for Marshall. But I'm not going to pretend. Got a feeling both of us are going down this week. I'd love to be wrong on both
  3. All in all our district went 2-2 which is a big improvement over 0-4 of last year. Considering Lovejoy and Melissa are among the better programs in 5A Div II I think that Pine Tree and Whitehouse gave them a good game for at least a good portion of it. I know Marshall & Texas High will have to be all out to win next week. Survive and advance is the name of the game.
  4. Texas High 51. Terrell 28. Texas High slept through 3rd quarter and didn’t adjust to 1 play over and over or it wouldn’t have been that close
  5. We finally adjusted to stop that counter to the right side after they ran it about 6 times for 3 TDs. Very good ground game for us tonight
  6. They have literally ran 1 play 5 times. We have not done anything to counter it
  7. I will say we are still showing a lot of vulnerability to the deep pass We will run into teams that won’t continuously drop or miss them
  8. Amazing how you can pass occasionally when you run it down their throats. lol
  9. I’ll repeat my mantra we will rue the day we dealt Drew Gilbert
  10. Texas High played their starters. They were averaging 10 yard a rush in the 1st quarter. Then we decided to pass constantly. IDK what the final statistic was but we must have been like 5-25 or something like that for less than 40 yards. It was head scratching. On the last series we had 1st and goal from around the 10 and got there on the ground. 1st and goal we run for 5 yards....2nd play the RB & QB tangled their feet for no gain. 3rd play we ran inside the 1. 4th and goal we passed. Incomplete just like we had all night. I'll never understand the game as long as I live. The passing game was totally NON-EXISTENT all night but we just kept going. It was totally unreal. I have no words to describe it. The game means nothing here nor there. But what a momentum killing way to end an undefeated record and set up an exact repeat from last year. I truly hope we can shake this off and adapt our offense to whatever is working AND STAY WITH IT. You don't have to throw the ball just to try & prove you can.
  11. I make no predictions on my team after last Friday. I don't know if we will run, or throw, or what after last week. I'm completely at a loss for our strategy. I thought we were a year ahead of where we could be......but I hope we don't completely collapse as we did last year. I'll be ecstatic to get through 2 rounds.
  12. Congrats for a sensational season. You guys deserve the trophy. But you jumped all the way to #4 on team salaries last year and are talking about signing Ohtani and Hader. You are entering Mets territory. Just an opinion but you are risking the long term future of your club. Ask the Angels, Mets, Padres, and Yankees. I understand there are different opinions here. I don't want my team to cripple themselves like that. Call me an Astros homer. I don't care. We let Correa and Springer walk. It hurt but we have been to 7 ALDCs in a row. Sometimes you need to look down the road. Don't get blinded by 1 title. You guys have the team to contend next year and DeGrom is coming back. I'd proceed with caution.
  13. It was really beneath him. I was surprised he said it. It almost proves to me he has been reading it all along and was hell-bent on proving he was right no matter what. I could have let it all go if he hadn't said "well he ain't a big boy yet" about Diaz and McCormick. He admitted he said it. By that statement he made himself sound delusional. Springer, Altuve, Bregman, Tucker, Correa, Pena, etc. All weren't big boys as rookies according to him. But he never said why Pena was an exception which happened under him as a coach. I'll never get it. Time to move on I know.....but he left a bitter taste in my mouth in spite of what was a dang good year with all the injuries.
  14. I just read an interview with Dusty Baker where he said “spoiled” Houston fans questioning his decisions were a big part of his retiring. Wait ……… didn’t he say 2 months ago that the team, the fans, and the players would he thanking him after the season?????? What happened Dusty? Can’t own up to personnel mistakes that EVERYONE including your GM questioned. I thought you were a bigger man than to resort to that
  15. Not gonna lie. After what I saw tonight I wouldn't be the least shocked if we suffer the same fate as last year. This was more than just being beat. It was a bewildering night of watching a team refusing to quit doing something that clearly wasn't working. And it continued until the final play of OT.
  16. I can take losses and accept them. This one is hard to swallow because we refused to do what was working.
  17. I was brought up old school. If you can run stay on the ground. Continually flinging the ball with ZERO results is kinda hard to rationalize
  18. Kudos to Pine Tree Evidently our wish to throw was stronger than our wish to win.
  19. I’d like to retain Nerris and Maton. I agree with you 100% on Bagwell
  20. nah.... it be good the good part for us is we have a LOT of sophs playing Fri nights. We are set up solid for the next 2-3 years. That isn't any kind of prediction. But it looks solid
