  1. In 14-4a, Jacksonville clinched a playoff spot Friday with their 28-10 win over Kilgore. The Indians are in the playoffs no matter what happens this Friday against Lindale. The simplest scenario for Jacksonville is if they beat Lindale, they are outright District Champs and they do not play Longview in Division I in Bi-District. They will play Texas High. If Jacksonville loses to Lindale, they are still in Division I and would not not play Longview ONLY IF Henderson beats Whitehouse. But if Jacksonville loses to Lindale and Whitehouse beats Henderson, Jacksonville and WH would both be the Division I reps with WH getting the top seed and play Texas High and Jacksonville would play Longview because WH beat Jacksonville head-to-head. One last scenario -- If Jacksonville loses to Lindale, WH loses to Henderson, and Kilgore beats Nacogdoches, Kilgore goes Division I as the 2-seed and gets Longview and Jacksonville would be the 1-seed (and play T-High) because Jacksonville beat Kilgore head-to-head and Kilgore is larger than Henderson and Lindale, the Division II representatives.
  2. What happened to you CAN'T transfer to another school for "athletic reasons"? This is a UIL hearing waiting to happen. I mean, you lose your starting job . . . so . . .stay there, buck it up, get better. What is wrong with that? You don't pick up your toys and go home. This isn't college where you transfer for more playing time. That said, I do not know the young man, nor the whole story, so if there are other circumstances, I apologize up front as there may be much more to this possible transfe than him just losing his starting job. These are 16, 17, 18 year old kids who need guidance in life when things don't exactly go their way. Where are the parents in this? Sometimes you don't get your way in life and you have to fight back. If this young man reads this -- I would say to him: Stay there, man up, swallow your pride,, work hard, be a team player, and earn your way back on the field. And from what I have read of your stats in the first few games, you are obviously talented. Stay there and man up, OK?
  3. This Friday will mark the 75th meeting between Jacksonville and Palestine. The first game was in 1913, a 13-13 tie. The all-time series shows Palestine has won 36 games, Jax has won 35 games, and there have been 3 ties. With a Jax win on Friday night, the series would be all even. Jax has owned this series in recent years. The two teams have played 17 times in the last 20 years (since 1989) and Jax has won 15 of those 17 games. Palestine's last win was a 27-24 in the Tomato Bowl in 2005. My prediction: Jax 28 Palestine 20

  5. Well, I wish Hallsville would have been so magnaminous in 2005 when they voted against Jacksonville at the district meeting on an eligibility issue in football on the last day of the season where the kid lied to JISD and the whole team paid the price by missing the playoffs. Kilgore voted for Jacksonville and so did a couple of other teams -- I remember that . . . but the deciding vote when to Hallsville. If Jax was OUT, Hallsville was IN. So how did Hallsville vote? Against Jax so they could get in the playoffs. It was sad and wrong and it cost so many kids. It was totally a self-serving vote for Hallsville whose AD should have abstained since they were have been affected either way. But they chickened out. BTW, it was proven beyond the shadow of a doubt at the district meeting that the Jax player lied about where he lived and that JISD had no knowledge this player lived outside the JISD -- which is why half the schools inthe district voted for Jax. The other half that didn't? They (as in Hallsville) had everything to gain. It was wrong of Hallsville to do that.
  6. What's amazing is that WH could miss the playoff . . . If Jax beats Lindale If Kilgore beats Nac If Henderson beats WH by at least 14 points WH would be out. But those (except maybe for Kilgore beating Nac) are HUGE ifs.
  7. That's why they play the game, sir. Appreciate the underestimation. :censored: We'll see you Friday with bells on. Getchur popcorn ready.
  8. Hold on . . . if Jax beats Lindale Kilgore beats Nac WH beats Henderson Jax will play Longview at Rose next Friday.
  9. Congratulations to Brady, he has a great arm, height, etc.. However, at the D-1 level, he is a bit slow at 5.0 in the 40. I know passing offenses don't have to have a speedy QB . . . but 5.0 in the 40 is an immediate turnoff at the D-1 level. He will do well at SFA and good luck to him. I know we're sick of seeing him here at Jax (ha). :getlost:
  10. Henderson leads the all-time series 41-32 with 4 ties. This will be the 78th meeting. Jacksonville has won eight in a row.
  11. Amazingly, if Jax beats Henderson next week and Nac loses to Lindale next week, Jax is in the playoffs no matter even if they lost their last 2 games to Kilgore and Lindale. Jax would be 2-3 and with wins over Nac and Henderson (assuming next week happens) Jax would be in. This 4 teams in deal is wild. But 5A has been doing for years. Last year, John Tyler was going into their season finale at 1-8 and if they had won in Week 10 (which they didn't) they would have been in at 2-8.
  12. Yeah, amazingly, if Jax beats Henderson and Nac loses to Lindale next week, Jax is in no matter what even if they lose their last 2 games to Kilgore and Lindale.
  13. You're right, I should not have said it was "no contest." It was only 7-0 at the half, Jax. Nac did have some pretty good stops on defense and Nac's offense surely didn't help matters. Nac played hard, they just didn't get it together on offense.
  14. This game was a dog fight. 7-0 at the half but Jax came out and physically whipped Nac in the 2nd half. I cannot understand why Nac didnlt give the Ervin kid a look. No carries. I mean, Smith was good, but Nac seemed out of sync. If you're changing QBs like they have the last 2 weeks, there are problems. Of course, it may have something to do with how hard Jax was hitting Nac. By the end, Jax was just teeing off on Nac. Hatton of Jax looked like a man among boys out there. He pounded Nac. The Tribe came to play and they finished unlike last week against WH. Good luck to Nac the rest of the way.
  15. Jax finally played a whole game and finished Nac off. This was no contest in my opinion. Jax was way more physical than Nac and Nac was bigger. Should have been a shutout 21-0 if the Jax wouldn't started celebrating while Nac was hustling to the line to score. So I guess Jax has now sent a message after last week's close loss to WH and this win over Nac. They are for real and they have to be the best 2-5 around. This team reminds of the 2003 Indians when they started 0-5 and the ran the table in district to finish 5-5 and make the playoffs. Started slow but finished strong. Amazingly, if Jax beats Henderson at home next week, they would just need to beat either Kilfore ot Lindale to make the playoffs. But that will be no easy task. You have to beat Hendrson first. Great game, Tribe!
  16. I'm a Tribe fan! But that doesn't mean you can't compliment other teams when they beat you. Yeah, I'm all about JVille but when you get beat, hey, that's life. I don't know if you remember or not, but Jax has primarily been on the other end of these games for many years. The tide has turned a little now and the current Jax coaches and players have to turn it around.
  17. Greeting Purplemonkeydishwasher, Understand that I define "arrogant" loosely. When you're team is winning, strut it, that's OK. Enjoy it. It was great game last Froday against WH and they desereved to win. Teams that have LEARNED HOW to win usually win games like that. Jax won alot of games back in the 1990s and early 2000s with less talent than their opponent because they KNEW how to win. WH seems to have that right now. We sure did in Jax. For the 10 year period of 1997-2006, Jax was 74-26 (.740 winning percentage) with 10 playoff wins. Last year, 3-7. This year, will be lucky to go 3-7 again. But Jax will be back. Everything goes in cycles.
  18. Excuse me while I wipe the egg off my face. That's why these post sites get weird. Sometimes, people misterpret things . . .your post threw me. Apology accepted and I apologize as well. Kumbaya! :happy65:
  19. There are no new schemes. What's your deal about the MIT comment? You know Jax outcoached WH last Friday? You think all those new wrinkles by Jax were created in the last few weeks just for WH? 3 weeks of prep? Gimme a break. It's pretty pathetic the way you insult the Jax players like that. Admit it. WH was lucky to come out with a win against Jax. You know it and the WH coaches definitely know it. They said so to the Jax coaches. Comments like yours are why so many people detest some (not all) WH posters. There is an arrogant, elitist attitude from some (not all) WH posters when WH has won . . .what . . . 22 games the last two years? That's great, congrats, the WH program is coming on for sure. But to not give credit to Jax and to insult the Jax kids after they whipped WH like a yard dog for three and half quarters . . . that's pathetic. WH won the game fair and square, Jax did not finish the game well, WH showed composure and deserved to win. End of story. BTW, Jax 21 Nac 18
  20. Lindale is playing well at 6-0. However, the reason Jax played so well against WH was ball control and time of possession. From what I understand, Lindale is a wide open pasing team . . . not as strong a running game as Jax. But boy, can Lindale score. The problem is . . . can you win a scoring battle against WH? Bottom line is that WH is NOT as good as people think. They cannot stop the run, Jax rolled up 378 yards against them. And Lindale is better than people thought (ask Kilgore). WH and Attaway had trouble with Jax's cover corners and they didn't run the ball well on offense. The key was that Jax kept the WH offense off the field which kept them from getting into a rythm . . . can Lindale do that? That is the question. All in all, if Lindale can play like they did against Kilgore . . . Lindale 31 WH 30
  21. Excellent post . . . you nailed it exactly.
  22. Uh . . . what game were you at? 53 total yards for WH in forst half, so it was a lot more than 2 plays for Jax. Also, that was a 71 yard drive on that 2nd half Jax TD driive with only ONE facemack penalty. If anything, it was WH getting their last 2 TDs with penalty help. A mystery unsportsmanlike penalty on the EXTRA POINT and then a holding penalty that would have allowed Jax to finish it off when it was 21-19. WH got so many breaks in the last 5 minutes, gimme a break. Jax was flagged 13 times to only 5 for WH.
