  1. Hmmm. 2013 football season / 2014 class - 5 D1 players (WR, LB, DB, K, DT). Also included D1 track athlete 2014 football season / 2015 class - 1 D1 player (RB) 2015 football season / 2016 class - 4 D1 players (DT, OT, TE, WR) 10 D1 players in 3 years, 3 of which were linemen. Not a slow prodding, cornfed program. Argyle has skill players
  2. Again. Not taking anything away from an incredibly talented La Vaga team. Had Drew been 100% there is still no guarantee Argyle beats those studs. Just wanted to let folks know what a warrior that kid was yesterday. So proud. Figured the thought would be that I am making excuses. Not even close. La Vega earned that win no doubt. Great team.
  3. I have refrained from even saying anything as needed to get some clearance from his dad. I have seen some posts (on other threads) about how inept Argyles offense was. One HUGE reason for that was that our most dynamic player, Drew Estrada, suffered a torn Tibiofibular ligament in his knee with 2 mins left in the AW game. It is amazing that the kid was even able to tough it out and play but he did. The first time he even tested it was during warm ups yesterday afternoon. He means so much to our team. He kicks off (always through the endzone) punts, plays RB, returns kicks, and even plays defense. He gutted that game out (even punted) but was in a ton of pain. He clearly could not cut but hung in there the entire game. He even made an awesome 40 yd catch. I am not posting this as an excuse. We clearly lost to La Vega. I am mostly pointing this out to give him the credit that he deserves. He was in huge pain, was not himself, but played through it. So proud of him and our boys. I am sure there will be those on this thread that question my motive for posting this but if you have seen Argyle play this year, you would understand what that kid means to our team. I'm sure our Celina neighbors would attest.
  4. I can certainly understand the knee jerk sentiment after the beat down LV put on Carthage however, seems to me many are basing their opinions on this game mostly on LV's game vs Carthage and not considering Argyle's "body of work" in these playoffs. Argyle has taken out some 4A monsters in consecutive weeks including Pitt, Kennedale, LE, and Wylie. All were sporting records of at least 12 wins and all had state championship pedigree this year. If any of those 4 were playing this week vs LV, I suggest there would be significant debate as to which team would win. Carthage was clearly not themselves in that game, watch the video. Yes LV had something to do with that but let's not discount that Argyle has been consistently beating some of the best in these playoffs.
  5. I see the overall sentiment here and on other boards that La Vega is just too athletic for Argyle. But please forgive us Argyllians if we don't run in fear and hide in the hills. You see for several years now we have been hearing this from posters re: teams we were about to play, and there have been many. Argyle is about to play their 48th game in three seasons and 4th state championship game in 5 years (3 in a row). Despite the success, Argyle players, coaches, and fans are used to the doubters. Seen many games won by Argyle where the losing team was walking off shaking their heads wondering how they lost. Said it before, Argyle has awesome athletes with speed, quickness and the players are always strong and in great condition. They will be uber prepared and if you happen to be beating them in at any point they will not stop coming. So Argyle shows up Friday playing against another team that has "too much speed and too many weapons to be stopped". Don't be surprised if you look up at the scoreboard at the end of the game thinking, how did they do that?
  6. Thanks to the Smoaky brethren for throwing their support to the Eagles. The wars we have had with our east Texas brethren have prepared us for the fight. Much respect!
  7. Awesome game, nip and tuck the whole way. May be the best team Argyle has played in 3 years. Congrats.
  8. Ok so now it's "Argyle cheats". Thats how they win. Geez. Gotta be something they are doing because they certainly couldn't beat the east Texas athletes without cheating huh? What a joke.
  9. Where are you hearing that? Maybe hearing voices? I'm not reading much here from the Argyle faithful. There aren't many on Smoaky anyway.
  10. Dude you need to quit. How do you take my post as showing no respect for the competition? Get a grip. LE is awesome and has a ton of great athletes. But the same can be said for Argyle. Damn just realized it's dark outside so you are out. I will post again when you are back in the coffin.
  11. Couldn't have said it better. Coach Rodgers is a great leader of men, holds himself, his coaches and players to a higher standard and all respond. Also, I can attest that I have never seen a harder working group of HS coaches than those that make up this staff. They are tireless. The players follow the lead. One thing is normally certain, Argyle does not show up for a game unprepared.
  12. I don't know. The vast majority of kids grew up here. Move-ins typically come their elementary or middle school years from what I can tell. Parents don't normally like to move kids in HS. We are the exception as we moved here just before my sons Sophomore year. Didn't like what was going on in Keller at the time. Budget issues causing reduction of stipends, good teachers and coaches leaving, classes becoming more and more crowded, bonds getting voted down that were necessary. Just not good. It was find a good private or move. Housing market heated up so we sold and moved up here. Best decision we ever made.
