PG has demonstrated they can move the football on every defense they have played this season. They can grind out long drives or hit a home run. They have 4 high quaility runners that may have the ball in their hand on every play. They also have a VERY underrated passing attack. I'm not saying they're Gilmer, but they are definitely well above average.
Defense
wos is incredible on defense, it is the foundation of their long standing success. They will have to play flawless disciplined defense and try to push PG into being uncomfortable. Should be a dog fight in the trenches and a battle of wills.
PG is strong. Their front seven will have a definite advantage over the mustang o'line. I would not look for them to try to pressure the wos offense and create gaps since the QB is not as much of a threat to throw as he is to run. I think PG will play a contained pass rush and possibly spy the QB. I think the same game plan they used on the LE QB will work here even though the LE quarterback is a much better passer.
My take:
I believe that the game will not be a blowout, but it will not be close. If anyone watched the Carthage vs Henderson game a few weeks ago, it never really felt like Carthage was blowing Henderson out, yet the score ended up 35-0. Both of these teams are outstanding or they would not be here, but I think that PG is a perfect storm this season. Everything has come together at precisely the right time. Last time I saw wos under the pressure of feeling outmatched( 2nd half of the Gilmer game), they made a lot of mistakes and lost their composure. I think in the middle of the second quarter, wos is going to realize they are outmatched and things are going to snowball. Mistakes will turn into points for PG and a stalled offense will cause wos to try some trick plays or fake punts. wos has fought through adversity in the playoffs this season, but will not be able to rely on the 99.9 yard QB sneak or the punt return that takes 10 minutes to score in this game.

If you choose not to support WOS because of what I say, You really need help This team is made of Champions but maybe that's not what your in to. Yes I agree. You have to have a pretty good defense to get this far. WOS offense hasn't been as explosive as the last two years but they shows signs of being able to rise up to the occasion. This will be a game where field position is crucial!

I have been on here since the beginning of this season trying to tell you people that WOS will be a force to be reckon with and all I heard was a bunch of hate from you thugs. This thread only does well when Outsiders come on here and dispute your post. Golfimgnut I appreciate your post but it absolutely means nothing to me or any other WOS fan. BTW your still hung up on the Gladewater team that never materialized! WOS rolls on to their 3 rd SC !

There is no doubt that WOS is good and has a great tradition of winning. You don't win one SC, much less 2 in a row without being pretty dang good, but to bash PG for what WOS fans call their cockiness is the pot calling the kettle black. Yes, WOS has earned respect but so has PG. Every program has to start somewhere and PG has climbed the ladder of success over the last few years and now they are reaping the harvest of the work they have put in. PG fans are excited about their team and they have every right to believe that they will win it all this year. Many of us who have seen them play or have been on the losing end of their great season know exactly what kind of team they have, When we (Gladewater) played Carthage the first week of the season, I said the DAWGS were the best defensive team I had seen in many many years. That changed after we played PG. After our game with PG I said not only did they have the best defense we had faced all year, but they were the most balance team, offensively and defensively I had seen. We know how good the Hawks are and yes, we normally root for our East Texas teams, but it's not just about that. Most on here rooting for PG definitely believe they are a better team, just as those who are rooting for WOS believe they are better. We can keep on seeing who can beat their chest more, but the bottom line is we will find out Friday. I have no doubt it will be a great game!
