  1. This is right on! It's hard to be good at anything if you do everything...Hendo needs to figure out what they want to be defensively and if its a defense that gives up 40+ ppg and gives your team no chance to win carry on, if that's not the goal it's time for a change. Somewhere, somehow
  2. Seems as though Chapel Hill is the Lindale message board poster's Superbowl... Y'all ain't got over that win yet? It was a good win, great game plan, great execution but at some point y'all need to move on and stop highjacking every CH thread. I can't open a thread without reading about this game. It's 2 weeks ago old... but I'd probably keep reliving it to if that was my best moment over them. Crazy to think that since Coach Rio took over at CH in 2019 CH has more playoff wins, more Gold balls and the crazy thing is y'all won 5 playoff games 1 of those years and Rio's first year CH didn't make the playoffs soooo... maybe focus more on yourselves and those potential playoff opponents than a past accomplishment. But since you wanna keep claiming the refs didn't cheat (and I don't think they "cheated") how many penalties were called on Lindale? CH? Any big plays called back on either team? I wasn't at the game so I don't know, but would love to hear since you keep bringing this up. I also heard there was a penalty on Lindale that the officials tried to enforce on CH??? If that is true that does show you something....just saying either way Lindale won the night, but it's probably time to move on. Don't y'all have a game this week? or is CH the only game that matters on the Lindale football schedule?
  3. "...won the games they suppose to win..." Aren't they 1-7? 1st off they haven't won "games" this year because they are STILL the most undisciplined team in 9-4A, Penalties and Penalties over and over again, unsportsmanlike penalties galore the last 2 weeks. Until Henderson stops beating themselves they won't have a chance against teams that can walk and chew gum at the same time.
  4. Do your research... go to some games of these teams and see the sideline environment and numbers some of these programs you've mentioned are shrinking while their schools may be growing their rosters aren't! That should be a red flag...as to why that's up to you to figure out. My advice would be to get a realistic look, coaches and school staff can twist things to make it sound better than it really is to get a new move in to pick their school. But some of the coaches from the schools you mentioned are getting better and better at running kids off because they only know how to coach by degrading and berating kids, it's not always sunshine and rainbows but there's a way to treat kids and a way not to treat kids in my opinion. I've seen all 4 of these programs plus Kilgore from close perspective, when you're around them at games you can see a lot of their true colors. Go watch them in the playoffs, study how your family fits in with their crowd, how your kids fit in with their schemes, but more than that study how their coaching staff treats the players when adversity hits! Everyone is great when you're up 30
  5. If you've been paying attention to prices of everything this has been the trend...28oz Gatorades are 2 $5 nowadays, used to be 2 for $3...Grocery prices are up, used to you could go to Walmart and get groceries for your family and be under $150-$200 every time and that includes all the non-grocery things you gotta get, nowadays you spend upwards of $300 or more. Great value toilet paper is almost $30 for a package of 24 rolls... Inflation has hit everything
  6. There's no denying that the white hat from that game is a Lindale guy... His kids go to LISD schools, he's involved in the sports scene in town. Lindale never should've picked that crew. Definitely blurs lines ethically and tbh there were multiple questionable/borderline calls that seemed to happen on big plays by CH, KOR TD called back before half, 40+ yard completion called back on a suspect holding call are 2 that stick out.
  7. Shouldn't be close... Jacksonville is the worst team in the district, crazy how a 5A drop down can be so bad in 9-4A
  8. According to Maxpreps they've got 22 Seniors...Looks like offensively and defensively they do have some underclassman playing key roles but lots of starters appear to be Seniors.
  9. How is the amount of time put in for football any different for anything else a kid participates in during their time in HS? Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball all play 2 games a week and 3-4 times as many games a year than the average football team, never heard that argument with any of those sports? It logically makes sense that games take up more time since they start later and typically last longer because in those sports the Varsity plays after the JV/Freshman teams most of the time... Band has no practice requirements on time, they can practice as much as they want never heard that complaint there, 1 act play, drill team, cheer all the same. I've never experienced any "late practices" in any of my experiences with HS athletics. Typically practices are over by 5:45-6:00 and at the very latest 6:30, not real unusual, definitely not late by any measure for a 15-18 year old. As far as conditioning, rest, time management, and nutrition are concerned the HS coach really only has a say in Rest and conditioning, (and while those 2 things can go hand in hand, they're also 2 things that don't necessarily always benefit each other. For example if your team isn't in very good shape and struggles to make it through their games physically, they are probably a very well rested team and on the other hand a team that puts a priority on being a well conditioned team and has a year round strength and conditioning program probably isn't the most rested...) Coaches aren't going home with the kids to ensure their nutritional needs are being met like they need to be, they aren't in charge of the school nutrition plan and aren't responsible for what is served at school for breakfast or lunch that's on the parents. Time management is something a coach can teach, show, and work with kids on and every one I've ever came in contact with does but ultimately those habits are once again developed and reinforced at home. While coaching closely resembles parenting, the more parenting coaches have to do the less coaching they are able to do...Remember they only have 8 hours outside of the school day each week to "practice" if that time is spent on behavior, effort, grades, discipline or anything else it takes away from the time they can spend coaching technique, scheme, and game situations that ultimately will be critiqued by every member of the community on Friday night.
  10. How does "the whole process of football disrupt rest, nutrition and academics in a major way" ?
  11. Any truth to the notion that Gilmer is probably moving up to 4AD1 and Lindale is growing so fast they'll be back in 5AD2? Any other 4A/5A movements being rumored
  12. 4th?!?! What's going on at these schools?? Seems like the issues at Marshall are the only ones hitting the rumor mill around here
  13. Lets not pretend like the East Texas 5A district is stronger than the 4A's.... Kilgore, Gilmer, Carthage, PG, CH, Lindale, even traditionally Henderson would all make the playoffs regularly in that 5A district, don't think any of us would bet the same for Nac, Whitehouse, Hallsville, PT, Mt. Pleasant, even Marshall & T-High would get 3rd or 4th or even left out at times if they had to play in the area 4A district. Playing "5A opponents" doesn't always mean better out here in bEastx
  14. Tough to imagine CH is returning 9 offensive starters...didn't they lose 2 Receivers? (Berry & McGregor) & Huddleston went to TCU, that's 3 right there, not sure how someone came up with 9. I feel like they had 1-2 other seniors that started for them last year, maybe only 1 but that's 7 returning starters at best
