  1. I don't know why your cronies RETIREDFAN or DirtyBirdFALCON89 are giving you trophies, the Blanco guy wasn't fired because of wins, or lack thereof. And Malakoff wasn't a top 5 program in 2003. It was turned into a good program. Same with Carthage. Same with Grandview, shall I keep going? Of course there's not going to be much support at a perennial loser, they ain't got it figured out. Pair them with the right leadership + community support = things CAN get turned around. Takes a little work.
  2. You're so old you don't remember the Atlanta Falcon "dirty bird?" Guess I'll need to slow down with my youngster sass...
  3. My bad, heard that deal was iffy, at best. Their baseball coach who has been there an unGodly amount of years and has so many wins is doing it the way it should be done.
  4. I have a hard time following you. I didn't draw or lodge anything.
  5. Jesus, now I have to name 5 more? This is getting exhausting. How many more sets of 5 do I have to name after that? Not sure if either one of you guys have ever been a part of a community like I'm picturing, but I have and I hope that all coaches get to experience small town Friday night when you have the overwhelming majority support from the town. It's special.
  6. Football is probably their worst sport I guess, but they make the playoffs 4 out of every 5 years. They're always in 2nd and 3rd round of basketball playoffs and they're usually really salty in baseball. So.... go practice your dirty bird or something. Quit being pissed at the world.
  7. I agree with all of that. But trying to convince these old geezers that it can be changed, turned around, and made a good environment is next to impossible.
  8. Oh they don't have success in the big 3 sports? So out of 9 schools, you pick off 1 of them? If there isn't any truth in what I'm typing, why only focus on "Buna?" Quotations go after the punctuation marks...
  9. 100% agree, no beef with that post. But, there are parents and there are communities that work together. And I believe with enough hard work, a community can go from "not a great place to be," to a winner with a bunch of the same drive and focus channeled into 1 goal. It is possible, and it does happen. See my other post.
  10. That have NOT? They aren't on the same page if they're continuously losing. I don't have insider knowledge of these towns, but on the outside, they seem to have it figured out. Crawford, Franklin, Carthage, Malakoff, Grandview, Pottsboro, Muenster, Blanco, Buna... shall I keep going?
  11. I don't understand why it has to be coach/teachers vs the community...? Everyone is working for the same goal. There are communities out there that have this figured out. It takes a group of good people that are louder than the ones that want to be negative. Relationships have to be built. I've seen it happen.
  12. Me too. That's the old timers way of thinking. It doesn't have to be like that. Especially with strong leadership at the top with excellent community relations. Everyone working in the same direction for the same goal.
  13. 100% accurate. The lack of appreciation is what is driving good or young coaches out. Tons of good coaches are staying too. To each their own. Please appreciate success that your athletic program is having. There's not many jobs that pay out less than $10/hr for people that rack their brains and lose sleep over the performance of 14-18 yr olds.
  14. I miss painting fields because of the pride you had at the end, but doing it, sucks.
  15. That's my only point I was trying to make.
  16. I know plenty small school staffs that make perennial runs that might work 10 hours on the weekends. All about splitting up jobs and handling your own business. Also, for you educators that are posting during school hours, how are you justified in calling "teaching" a 40 hr work week when you're posting on smoaky? Quit crying about the job. Also, stop explaining the job to me. It's not something I don't know about. Furthermore, I agree on the topic. Seems like just hiring a decent human being is a hard job, much less a good coach and someone that handles themselves professionally in the classroom. I'm not sure where this profession is heading, but if admin doesn't start standing up to kids and parents, the middle man(teachers and coaches), will become non existent. If high school sports are left up to the parents to run, it'll be a disaster. Actually, it'll be exactly like little league, peewee, and little dribblers. So if you want parents helping out, be careful what you wish for. Not in any remote case would I be in favor of a parent helping, unless they played professionally. What really gets under my skin is the group of high school coaches that think because they are high school coaches, they immediately know more than everyone else. Anyone can be a high school coach guys. Every person in the world is a bachelor's degree and iTeach Texas away from doing it. Head coach? Prooooooobably not. Successful coach? Proooooooooobably not. Be humble, the world needs more of it.
  17. This is a brutal schedule. Whoever is leading and planning this charge, needs to re-evaluate. It can be done better.
  18. So every coach does every job? Come on guy, not a rook here. While coaches are lifting players, others are doing laundry. While coaches are putting up uniforms, coordinators and lead position guys can break down opponent film.
  19. 3 hours of supervising lockerrooms? 3 hours daily for meetings and laundry? 8 hours on saturday for film? 6 hours on sunday for film? There's no time for the other 8-10 other hours of extra film study. That's a brutal schedule, and not an efficient one. Someone needs to re-evaluate who they work for and get out of there. It's done way better at places that do it right. For example... if you finalize the plan Sunday, why is there a need to meet for 3 hours daily discussing strategy? It either worked in practice, or it didn't. Tweak it, move on. Does not take 3 hours. Why does it take 3 hours for kids to leave the lockerroom?
  20. Oh God, if there was ever a year for that to happen, this is your best shot. The stars have aligned. If you don't get it done, you are who I thought you were. Overrated as usual.
  21. Seriously? You guys make it to the 3rd round and now you're world beaters. Like I said before, 5 of the 6 preseason teams are capable of winning Arp's district. Would be a tall task to beat WR for those teams, but WR ain't gonna beat the crap out of any of them.
  22. Guess you guys didn't comprehend my statement... out of the 6 preseason games, excluding Hawkins, 5 of those teams would compete just fine in Arp's district. So Arp scheduled well, imo. Even though there's 2A's, still a stout schedule.
  23. There's 5 of the 6, excluding Hawkins, that would win your district. So I'd say preseason shapes up well for you guys.
  24. It's completely ok for Franklin to have nice facilities, traditions, discipline, and overall sense of community. It's also ok for other kids and families that didn't grow up in Franklin to want that same thing and move into Franklin to become apart of it. It's not a good look to claim every kid is home grown. Embrace the fact that Franklin's vibe and atmosphere is something that outsiders want.
  25. *my uncle was from spring hill, sorry for leaving that out.
