  1. MRI this coming Monday, I believe......
  2. Lots of our girls have played with lots of the PG girls in summer basketball and softball through the years - so I have to be rooting for the Lady Hawks to keep the streak alive..... Lauren, Alyssa, Hollan & Courtney - keep working hard and working together.... keep letting your chemistry and your encouragement of each other guide your way.... Good Luck to Pleasant Grove and Bullard - I pray that both teams remain injury-free. LET'S GO LADY HAWKS !!!! Keep representing 16-3A !!
  3. I don't think anybody who has followed much LE volleyball this season would seriously be making 45-minute shutout claims against anyone. This team has been way too inconsistent all year long. The same thing happened to them in their last playoff game of the 2005 season.... one of their top hitters went down with a torn ACL injury that removed her from her basketball and softball seasons. That could be part of their mental collapse - who knows.... The injury to Middlebrooks has the potential of being just as devastating. She'll have an MRI on her knee next week. Her fellow teammates in basketball and softball are sending up lots of prayers that the news will be good and her absence will be very short-lived. Congratulations to Bullard!! Good luck against another very scrappy team in Pleasant Grove. It should be a great match.
  4. Well I'm not sure what the point is........ but I'll agree that the Pittsburg band is FABULOUS !!!! They got a standing o at our house. They were the most entertaining and precise military band I've ever seen - bar none. What a treat..............
  5. Hendershott (spelled with 2 t's) is a junior this year and he works very hard at walking well behind a very tall shadow. Trying to punt or kick behind Middlebrooks is not an enviable task for anyone.
  6. LE got to see a little bit of Crocker in our best-of-3 last year - she is tough. She throws really hard and will definitely be a force to be reckoned with.
  7. Atlanta's bye week was last week and I think most of their football team was sitting in the bleachers with us watching the LE/PG game..... so not only have they seen film, they've had the advantage of watching it live themselves.... yea, they'll be tough, as always, but they'll also be ready...
  8. sprtsfan - I think you're way off base on Middlebrooks and I've seen a whole lot more than just a few games she's pitched - she's a workhorse and did a great job handling some very intense pressure at such a young age as I've stated before, anybody that didn't see that 15-inning head-to-head between her and Cara Hulme will never know what they missed - competition at its best unfortunately, there will always be people who feel the need to smack these kids around - but I have every confidence that her career will more than speak for itself over the next several years - LE is lucky to have her
  9. Taylor Austin - Wills Point I believe she'll be a junior this year. Really tough.
  10. Is this the girl that was a freshman last year....? I never caught her name during the games, but I know she dominated our girls when we played L-E....She didn't look like any freshman, but that what the girls told me... She was definitely a freshman last year. She works hard on it all year and plays a lot of competitive travel ball away from school. She was the 14-3A Newcomer of the Year last year in volleyball, basketball and softball. She's every bit as much of athlete as her brother (Will) who has been highly recruited in football and baseball. He will attend Texas A & M next year on a baseball scholarship.
  11. Initial comments from other players were that Lamichael hyper-extended his elbow..... but I never got that confirmed and haven't heard anything about his return. Hopefully, with the bye this week, he'll be good to go against Mt. Vernon on the 3rd. I'm more than sure leopard can fill in the blanks.
  12. I think some folks like to have doubts about the Lady Hawks at the beginning of every season - yet they still find a way to dominate this district year in and year out. They will sorely miss the senior leadership they've had this season next year - but so long as they keep playing together as a team and supporting each other on the court the way they do now - this streak could be running for a long, long time to come. Congratulations Lady Hawks !!!!
  13. Liberty-Eylau's new coach this year is Todd Tipton - formerly of Redwater. Redwater's new coach this year is Steve White - formerly of Liberty-Eylau.
  14. Are the James Bowie team and its players covered in the Citizen's Tribune? What about Texarkana teams?
  15. They looked beatable to me also. And were it not for a missed field goal attempt, they would have started the season at 0-1 against North Lamar. They work hard though and usually do a good job of making adjustments - so time will tell.
  16. We're meeting each other in Waxahachie.
  17. Greenville was leading 14-13 at the end of the first half. Leopards pulled away in the second half. Greenville QB did a great job running and passing. LE defense put more pressure on in the 3rd and 4th. Way to go Leopards !!
  18. Now - that's an impressive stance. Seriously. BTW - several of us fans left the LE field last weekend telling everybody we lost the scrimmage 14-7 - because that's what the scoreboard said. I don't know what the most popular scoring method for scrimmages is - or if there is a right or a wrong way. I've never really looked at it as anything more than a glorified practice with new faces and patterns to work against.
  19. My bad ScoutsOut - I sent your U2U. My apologies to our two reporters. As my friend has so graciously pointed out, everyone is entitled to express their opinions on this board. Lots of money is made on a daily basis arguing sports opinions - this one just seemed more like a "how to do my job" issue that really didn't have much to do with either team. And as has already been pointed out - that's just my un"worthy" opinion.... That and $3.00 might buy you a gallon of gasoline.
  20. GEEZ people - that's why there are U2U messages available for this board - so you can argue the finer points of "Sports Reporting 101 - Men vs. Women" in private. I guess that's why they call it "local coverage" - because sometimes you just can't keep your personal opinion from bleeding through the print. The Texarkana Gazette staff will never be found guilty of being the lone offender in that category. I also guess we all "see" what we want to "see" too. I watched this scrimmage and could have sworn I "saw" Brian Porter score a clean TD for LE - but I haven't "seen" his name mentioned anywhere. Good Luck Mavericks - Good Luck Leopards ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL ??????
  21. :happy65: CONGRATS..... CONGRATS..... CONGRATS !!! A & M couldn't have snagged a better kid. And he still won't be so far away that we can't catch a game or two. HOORAY !!!
