  1. It's actually already inaccurate.... they lost there against Longview in December. They may not have been beaten in past playoff games at this venue, but that certainly won't sway the outcome tonight. We just hope our fortune continues. Aside from the rest of the team, we have three seniors who want to ride this season all the way to March. These girls have won some really big games and lost some really ugly ones to come into the playoffs with an 18-10 record. Their biggest disadvantage coming into tonight is the long break between games because they've been trying to get healthy. I look for them to possibly be a little rusty at the start - but hopefully it won't take them long to get focused on business. I can assure you they aren't expecting any gifts here. They look for Canton to leave everything on the floor just like they will. Safe travels everybody...
  2. For lack of the adequate description that can't be posted here..... it's called SARCASM people. I'm sure it's just a little friendly stirring of the stick... Good Luck Leopards! I hope you do a great job of just handling the business of the game and not giving in so much to the emotion and distractions.
  3. I've heard it will be a double-header at Longview Lobo Coliseum. Bullard vs. Pittsburg @ 6:30 Canton vs. Liberty-Eylau @ 8:00 I hope so - that will be a great scouting opportunity for Round 3 - whoever makes it.
  4. Makes you wonder how spread out the bracket is when it's the second round and you have two 14-3A teams squaring off against two 16-3A teams..... to have the winners face each other in the very next round. Good Luck to all. Travel safely. No more injuries!
  5. Pittsburg's coach is doing a great job with this group in her first year out of Clarksville. The Lady Pirates just need to go into this with confidence and leave it all on the floor. Good Luck 16-3A.
  6. I'm going with LE 'cause I love 'em! A lot of folks thought they would be done this year after the huge graduation loss - but they've stepped up with a lot of fight and heart and played a lot of tough games this season just to get to this point. It's all about right now - season 3 - give it all you've got. I'm with you all the way! LET'S GO LADY LEOPARDS!!!
  7. Pleasant Grove 17 Queen City 0 Ouch! Liberty-Eylau 4 Prairiland 0 Middlebrooks hurls no-hitter in season opener.
  8. How did the scrimmage between LE and NB come out yesterday?
  9. Winnsboro is fast and plays some tough "hands-on" ball. They like to run the floor and mix it up. They have several good shooters and do a great job passing the ball around to get a high percentage shot. But in a single word - the most important thing you need to know about the Lady Raiders is - Opal (#44). She's one of the smoothest and most controlled post players you'll ever see. She does a GREAT job for them and she's a lot of fun to watch.
  10. Saturday, Feb. 9 - 2:00pm - Mabank High School
  11. Is it possible they split the scholarships between the two sports to equal a full ride? I think Josh Wheeler had an interest in trying to play both also - but his scholarship was for football. And when the full ride comes from one sport, if you get injured playing the other, you lose the scholarship. At least that's the understanding I had from his experience. I'm sure it's up to the coaches to decide - but that makes sense to me if I'm paying him out of my funds.
  12. aaawwww.... thanks so much for posting the pics - 'cause I was sure hating I couldn't be there today. We love you guys and are so VERY proud of every one of you. Keep working hard!
  13. Pitt looked the flattest I've ever seen them in the first half and Atlanta stayed within 5 by the half. They came out in the second half fired up and hauling butt like the Pitt I've grown to love (except when they're playing LE - of course). Wright's 35 were with him and all the other starters sitting out most of the 4th. Their younger kids took the floor and did a pretty decent job and the older guys were their biggest cheerleaders from the bench. I thought #23 did a great job running the point. I keep seeing comments about Wright's size possibly hindering him. Maybe. But I say speed kills and what he may lack in height, he makes up for in speed. I haven't seen him have much of a problem creating his own space or crashing the boards for that matter. I think he has the ability and the heart to push himself just about anywhere he wants to go. That's just my two cents.
  14. I'm not really sure - it all depends on how the rest of the bracket shakes out. From my estimates right now - it looks like 1st seed would have Crandall, Spring Hill and Bullard on the way to Regionals and 2nd seed would have Sabine, Athens and Kaufman - among other good teams. Bullard has been playing very well. LE has faced Athens the last 2 years in the playoffs and that's been a close game both times. I've heard Kaufman is very strong this year as well. Pretty much sounds like a roll of the dice...
  15. I think they will be co-district champs and the flip was just to decide the playoff seeding.
  16. Mt. Vernon has already won the coin flip. After district finishes up tonight, they'll have the option of choosing whether they want to enter as the 1st or 2nd seed. LE has finished district and awaits their decision.
  17. I missed LE and North Lamar girls play each other in the Winnsboro tournament earlier this season. LE pulled out the win 49-43 in what was said to be a very physical game. I'm sure both teams have improved a lot since then and it would be another nail-biter.
  18. JV Girls LE 33 PG 25 Varsity Girls LE 64 PG 25 JV Boys LE 52 PG 41 Varsity Boys LE 70 PG 63
  19. I couldn't agree more. I said the same thing after seeing Pitt for the first time last year. He hustles SO hard from start to finish. He's very passionate about the game and his teammates and he truly is, in my opinion, the glue that binds their team together.
  20. Pitt definitely put on a defensive showcase. It kills me the way they can tag team you on defense. They have the ups to steal the cross-court passes and then when you try to drive on them - they will tag team you and pick your pocket. Several times LE drove in only to spin off one defender and hand the ball to another just waiting for you to make the turn. Offensively and defensively - I think they read and know each other better than any team I've seen. They may have 5 individuals on the floor, but they really seem to inhale and exhale every breath together. It's a real thing of beauty. LE played well last night. They had trouble at times getting shots to fall and weren't in position to get the rebounds. Waller and Jones did a good job as leaders out there and the younger players are gaining invaluable experience every time they take the floor with Pitt and hold their ground. They will just keep getting better and better. This team of Leopards has a lot of potential if they'll just keep growing together and learning to read each other. With all the distractions going on off the floor they've faced this season - I couldn't be more proud of the fight they've responded with.
  21. and all other travelers out and about this afternoon and tonight.... Leave early and drive slowly. We've had several accidents along I-30 this morning and I think the bad weather watch has just been extended through 6pm in Texarkana. Looking forward to some great games in town tonight - but I want to see more next week too. Everybody be safe....
  22. If Watts is hot like he was at LE and PG's shooting percentages are good from several players - it may be closer than some of these spreads. They do a great job of passing and playing team ball. You have to be clicking on all cylinders to run the floor with the Pirates. They all have tremendous speed and pretty good percentages of putting the ball in the hole.
  23. I don't know if I've ever cried over toes before - but that just brought tears to my eyes! GOD IS GOOD - ALL THE TIME! You keep working hard young lady - and we'll keep praying for God to manifest His glory through you!
  24. Well, anybody that thinks MV won't be a contender next year hasn't been paying close enough attention to the Whitlock twins and Summerlin. One of those twins hit a couple of 3's last night that had to be 4 or 5 feet behind the arc. It was CRAZY! I may not have agreed with the refs - but nobody can take away the fact that MV's girls can shoot the lights out of the gym. I'd like to know their shooting percentages. It's quite impressive.
