  1. But, but, but....... I love you man!!!! :flowers:
  2. I think the trip to MV from Texarkana is about the same as the trip to Pittsburg. It's not so bad if you draw that game on a Friday, but it's a long night during the week. It's still no match on distance for some of the trips Texas High has to make. I'd hate to see Mt. Vernon pulled from the LE district because the competition is great and only helps both teams in the long run. The LE/MV girls rivalry and the LE/Pitt boys rivalry are both coming on. The good thing is no matter how heated the moment gets - a lot of kids from both schools are actually friends away from competition.
  3. If I can catch WestUnit - I'll do it. I've heard he's surprisingly agile for someone his age..... LOL
  4. I think the "lol" infers that the comment was meant as a joke.... LE fans have taken quite a bashing on here - some well deserved - and some stretched way out of proportion. I'd venture a guess that every team has fans that have made or yelled comments that they may or may not wish they could #### back in. I'll be honest and say I know I have. It's something I'm constantly working on (when I'm driving too). I get really temperamental when refs - in my opinion - get involved in a game between 2 fairly evenly matched teams and call as lopsided as they did last night. Just because some of us don't get on message boards and post our personal take on all the things we hear and say - doesn't mean LE is the textbook definition of "Fans Gone Wild". I could get on here and say that the cop sent to "deal" with one of our fans at Pittsburg sat there and laughed the rest of the game beside the fan supposedly causing a problem and never said a word to her - because she kept right on ribbing the refs like she had been before he came up there. She knows most of those refs from way back and they laugh and jaw back and forth with her. Can't argue with comments made about what was heard on a video - but I can apologize if anything on there was from my mouth - because it could have been (like I said, I'm working on it). I could get on here at say that some of our girls who have decided to mix it up and give back some of what they've been getting on the floor have been threatened by fans of opposing teams that they're going to get it in the parking lot and have been escorted to their bus by parents after games. I've even seen their bus have a police escort all the way back to their school once. I could get on here and say that the LE girls heard quite an earful from the MV fans behind them on the bench - or that some of their adult fans were threatening physical violence against the LE fans outside at half time - or that several of the Pittsburg boys who came and watched both games went to Burger King and were visiting and cutting up with the LE girls when some MV kids started an argument with them and the police were called to throw out the Pittsburg kids. But what does saying any of that solve? If you were there and not from LE, I'm sure you'll have a different view of events. And half of the people who claim to be unbiased spectators are fooling themselves. Don't think you don't read these message boards and a lot of the "opinions" that have been posted on them and take a preconceived notion of people with you. And I think if the UIL wanted to get involved, they'd be cleaning a lot more houses than just this one. And if you weren't there, then I hope you'll have sense enough not to believe everything you read - because I'm passionate about my LE kids and my view is often skewed.
  5. 16-3A Girls after last night... Liberty-Eylau (4-1) Mt. Vernon (4-1) Pittsburg (2-2) Atlanta (2-3) Pleasant Grove (0-5)
  6. from the January 5th Gazette archives MV 20 fouls - LE 11 fouls MV's Sherman fouled out
  7. Got a HUGE game Tuesday at Mt. Vernon. Mt. Vernon is hot rolling off a big win over perennial powerhouse Winnsboro. And unfortunately for LE, Friday is their night off so they'll come into Mt. Vernon with a week between games. The Lady Tigers will be looking to tie things up and they'll be playing on their own turf. Lady Leps need to be ready to bring it for 4 hard-fought quarters and stay focused.

    P.G.

Well I guess that's why everybody has opinions. From my seat (which was on the LE side) - I agree that LE looked very flat - but that's the end of my agreement. PG played a great game and LE didn't seem to have an answer for Watts. Both teams have a lot of talent, but PG played better TEAM ball last night - and congrats to them.
  9. I'll have to check that out! This mini disc thing makes my head hurt..... haha Thanks!
  10. Yep - she's a definite keeper! Great kid!
  11. I've had the same problem. Transferring to the computer is a pain - and that's the only way I had to transfer it to a DVD. The quality of the video on the computer is much worse than playing it on a television screen, so you lose a lot of the quality on a transfer. The only way to play it on the TV from the minidv is to hook the camcorder up to the TV and play it from the camcorder. I have an older computer and I've also had trouble with the CD versus DVD thing. My computer won't recognize DVD discs. My DVD player won't play a CD disc. So check all your equipment for that scenario too. The mini's are great for just family stuff that you watch at home - but I haven't had good luck with it at all if you need to transfer it for copies to send out. I had to put together a skills tape for softball - disaster.... once it was transferred through the computer to a CD, we lost tons of quality. It was really choppy and grainy. Of course, video reproduction stores probably have a better way to do it - just not sure how expensive it would be.
  12. Erin Jones - New Boston This senior catcher can fling the ball to 2nd base from her knees like she's flicking a fly off her shoulder. She can knock the cover off the ball. And for a girl her size (she's tall and very muscular), Big E looks like a locomotive coming around the bases. You definitely don't want to get caught on the tracks..... tag and run, tag and run.... a head-on collision with this one might leave you totalled. LOL
  13. Liberty-Eylau beat Atlanta last night by 41 (76-35). Atlanta lost their senior point guard for the season with a torn ACL last week and they are trying to adjust. Pittsburg beat Pleasant Grove by 20 (48-28). It won't surprise me at all to see Pitt still scrapping come playoff time. It's hard to find newspaper coverage on them, so the rest of the district isn't much aware of what they've done in the pre-season, which probably works to their advantage.
  14. McConaughey is definitely a few bricks shy of a load in this film - but he still manages to pull laughs out of me with tears rolling down my face. Surreal probably can't even begin to describe the actual events. I just can't imagine - and I pray that nobody else ever has to find out how horrible it was. So heart-breaking...
  15. Finally rented and got to watch this movie yesterday.... Great movie! What a testament to the human spirit. If you haven't seen it already, make the time. The DVD had some great bonus features too - several interviews with some coaching legends (Lute Olson - Arizona Wildcats men's basketball, Pat Summitt - Tennessee Lady Vols basketball, George Horton - Cal State Fullerton baseball, Bobby Bowden - Florida State football) who offered words of wisdom that will have you digging for pen and paper.

  18. LE Boys win their season opener over New Boston 44-41. Lady Leopards move to 4-2 with a convincing win over Clarksville 60-37. KEEP IT UP LEPS! :happy65:
  19. WAY too long a road to think we "should" get back to Austin this year. That is, of course, the ultimate goal - but there's way too much talent out there to think we won't be fighting tooth and nail for it. LE has Houff, Athens has Hankins, Kennedale has Mahnesmith and Hughes, Mt. Vernon has Sherman. Lots of big time players enjoying their senior seasons this go around. Should be a lot of fun! Good luck to them all. I pray they have injury-free seasons and land in the collegiate huddles that bring the biggest smiles to their faces next year!
  20. "Intensity" is the word I like too.... Congratulations Hawks!! Keep up that intensity and keep riding the train down the playoff track.
  21. Liberty-Eylau vs. Robinson - 3A-Division I - 2006 State Championship - 35 to 34 Robinson fakes the extra point and the two-point conversion fails. LE has to recover the ensuing onside kick to close the lid on it. It was like riding on a roller coaster - you had no idea whether you should scream or throw up until the last tick of the clock.
  22. Well, why would you even click on a topic that clearly states "girls basketball"? You run out of paint? Just look at all the drying time you've wasted with reading and typing..... :(
  23. The newspaper reported that the freshman kicker that stepped in for PG was 6 for 6 against Mt. Vernon last week, including 2 field goals. That's a great job under pressure for a kid that didn't expect to be thrown out there. Keep up the good work!
