Jacksonville has speedy, talented receivers and a QB who is accurate if given time to throw. From what I see, Lindale plays man coverage. If they didn't have the safeties helping over the top, then #3 and #2 for Jacksonville probably had a tremendous night. jmo

MP young guys find their maturity this week and shock the district. Defense stands up and the Offense scores often. MP keeps their playoff hopes alive.

When a school starts the season with 21 kids on its JV roster and 8 of those don't finish the season, I think depth is an issue. It has been an issue for several years, well before the new coaching staff this year. Hopefully, they can build a program and get more kids involved.

Hate to argue about "played everyone close except the top 3 in district" statement, but what game were you watching Friday night vs Lindale? MP gets hosed on the clock running out before half after the ball was ruled incomplete, and some phantom chop blocks stalling 2 drives in the 2nd half. Plus the fact MP played without their starting QB the ENTIRE game.

I think a lot of the issue is kids can transfer from school to school nowadays whenever they feel like it. Who wants to play 5A football when you can go to a winning 4A, 3A or even 2A school. I remember when the culture at MP was about winning back in the 70's, 80's and 90's. That is the cultural change needed at MP now, and I think they have the HC to do that. It takes time to change a mentality, although the kids at MP this year are fighting that old monster (of losing), they just need a few breaks and people to believe in them.

Posted on MPHS website: "Due to multiple injuries, the JV football game scheduled for Thursday October 11 at Marshall has been cancelled." It would not take many, they only had 15 players total when they played Pine Tree last week.

Wow, must have hit a nerve. I never said MP didn't make mistakes, in fact I didn't even bring up that game. But since you want to go there, did MP make mistakes, absolutely. Is MP "terribly slow"? Ummmm, no. Did MP make them look better because of the mistakes, of course. However, that game has NO BEARING on my opinion of the Paris and Melissa game. Stand by my opinion, Paris by 21

I have seen them both. Melissa will not be able to handle the overall team speed of Paris. Without question, Paris is the fastest team I have seen. Paris also tackles well. Paris by 21

Definitely will be the biggest test so far for the Tigers. Still believing MP will show up and fight to win their third straight.

Melissa seems to be struggling on the defensive side of the ball. If Whitehouse gets their pass game going like they have the past 2 weeks, it will be a long night for Melissa. Not sure which Marshall team will show up this week. Or which Carthage team will show up. Marshall in a tight one. Nacogdoches loses going away. I think Henderson gets it rolling and gets the win over Jacksonville. Pine Tree turns it around and hands Kilgore their 3rd straight loss. Lindale wins another close one. Hallsville continues in their winning ways by alot. Hoping MP can get healthy and maintain their new winning mentality. Bye weeks are always difficult, like "hurry up and wait!"
