Watch Tyler Boyd in state championship game against Cameron Yoe. Won on a late touchdown pass late in the 4th quarter. Dbs stayed with receiver for about 60yds. Receiver drifted back to about 70 yards I can only guess that they thought Tyler could not throw it that far. I could not believe that they let a receiver get behind them. Was a great game.

  2. I said at the beginning of the year that Brooks is the stud in the backfield. He waited patiently behind one great back and one very good back. Learn how in college you have to see the hole one cut and go. Also learn the value of being a leader from his mentors. Baxter will learn but he is not there yet. Just hope Sark sees that now.

  3. After 25 years of coaching I to got tired of seeing one of our backs break loose on a play only to have it called back, and I also would get upset with the official. Then after looking at film realized on the backside of the play our tackle started to lose contact with his man he was blocking and grabbed him. It was nowhere near the play and would not have any effect on the outcome, but it was holding. I realized I was wrong for getting upset during the game. Should have said something to player. Official can only call what he see's. I truly believe an official is not going to wait then through a flag when someone brakes open. They get graded too, plus if you ask they will tell you the number of the player who got called for something. Cannot do that and see that the  runner is braking open at the same time. I admit as a coach I got upset with the officials early in my career, but as time went by I found out by watching film 95% they were correct calls. Early in the year is when you can lose games for not playing fundamentally sound and making mistakes because of your conditioning that is  not 100% yet. As the year goes by the turnovers and penalties became fewer and the best team wins or loses and the officials did not have anything to do with either one.

  4. Retired Coach now, but have coach at a places like Hughes Springs. A place that does not have athletes year in and year out can be tough. Was at a place that went 0-10 or 0-13 as one of our fans said because according to him scrimmages counted against win loss record. 3 years latter we have a good group come up and miss the playoff by one game. The next year we go to playoffs and win first playoff game in school history. Went to playoffs next year. Went to playoffs one more time after missing one year. Then the athletes return to what it had been. Had years of 5-5, 6-4, and 4-6 and suddenly we were horrible coaches. AD head coach leaves, most of staff leaves but I stayed and get moved to coaching a girls sport. Retire 2 years latter. School is just now turning the corner after our run we had through 2005-2009. Played in playoffs last year, might can make it this year but if he don't, your starting to here the rumors that we might need to go another direction. Some people just don't know good coaching when they see it. Parents who tell me their kid runs a 4.5 to 4.6 but we time him at 5.0 to 5.1. I hope the Hughes Spring coach does well, but if he does he better keep playing up to the community's standards regardless of the athletes you have.

This would be the first time in forever that someone accused Palestine of being a tough draw.  Most underperforming program in Texas. Could not win a playoff game with Adrian Petersen toting the mail and if they have won one since it will be news to me.

Not a Palestine fan but 2 or 3 years ago Palestine went 3 rounds deep in the playoffs.

All my years of watching and covering football 1988 Marshall still remains one of the best teams I ever watched. ..Also 86 Dfield who were almost as good as the other Tiger teams but they fell to what I still call one of the most underrated 3A teams of all time in 86 Jefferson.

This was the hardest hitting football   game I ever watched in person.
