  1. Maybe a change of heart? I know for a fact that Monday morning's practice, Jack told the kids that Rick had left and he, Jack, was the coach and their goal remains the same. Now maybe they misinterpreted it? Maybe he was effing with them? Because isn't Rhoades suspended for the next game or most of it?
  2. Yep. From what I understand, and I'm only hearing 2nd and 3rd hand so who knows how much is in this. UIL was throwing a season suspension on Rhoads. Our lovely superintendent (sarcastic face) was in agreement with that and Rhoades said, bump this, I'm out, and resigned. I know Jack had a team meeting Monday morning and stated that Rick had left the team and he was now head coach. But it's been like tumbleweeds blowing around here so who knows what's what and what ain't.
  3. Unfortunately, I've heard the opposite. KCEN reported that Jack said there is currently no plans for him to coach in Cameron. Of course, that could all change. Let's hope.
  4. Just pictures that someone posted from the board meeting, of Rhoades sitting there in his YOE mask and maroon tie. Oh, wait, found one. Twitter.
  5. It's official, Coach Rhoades is back in Cameron. Board voted unanimously to hire. I am stoked for this! I know it will take a couple of seasons or three to rebuild this team but hot dang, I'm ready!
  6. It's been advertised that a decision was coming tonight. Rhoades is in town. Someone took a pic of him walking into the high school. If it ain't Rhoades, I'd be extremely shocked.
  7. This is just for cover. They already have their guy(s) and this is just to show, "We're doing everything on the up and up." I'd be willing to bet a $1 cheeseburger from Burger Queen, based on information that I've heard hither and dither, that it's Rhoades and his son Jack. Everything else is just for show.
  8. About 3 years late on this one. Nice guy, good DC but not so hot in the HFC position. Also saw that Rhoades is leaving Gregory-Portland. Could we see a return of Rhoades to Yoe Nation? Whoever it is, I hope that they bring discipline and respect back to our sports programs.
  9. Traion was one of a kind for sure. He was a role model / hero on and off the field. He was a super nice guy that everyone looked up to. And everyone has a personal Traion Smith story, me included. Whenever we'd be out and run into him my girls would go, "Traion! Traion!" and he'd give a big smile and come over and say hi, shake my hand and let me take a picture of him and my kids. It's like the air was sucked out of our town Sunday and I'm just gutted about it. Prayers to his family, friends and loved ones. He'll never be forgotten.
  10. I knew about the pumpkin and toilet but had never heard of the bell being tossed in the river. I need to know more about that one. What year was that? I second the Battle of the Bell rivalry. I've been to numerous "Rivalry" games and not many can compete with the energy of those Battle of the Bell games. I know people from other schools who will drive over just to watch that game. Their own teams will be playing and they're like, Nope, Battle of the Bell. And 88YoePride is right, man that time Cameron and Rockdale met in the playoffs over in Georgetown, we got there at 4pm and it was almost 2 hours sitting in our car in line before we made it to the parking lot. It. was. crazy. I swear half of central texas was there that night! Player - Traion Smith, Cameron Yoe - Smith, who became both the single-season and career rushing leaders in Central Texas. Smith ran for 3,010 yards, becoming the first Central Texas player to eclipse the 3,000-yard mark, and scored 50 touchdowns in 2015, giving him an area-record 7,625 yards for his career.
  11. I have a ton of these, but my favorite was when I was talking to another teacher about a camping trip I had taken, and how there were several bears that would stand right outside our campsite. A student, an 8th grader mind you, in all seriousness, said, "Wait, so bears are real!? I thought they was made up, you know, like giraffes." I lost my stuff on that one and had to leave the room.
  12. Congratulations Rockdale!! Good job guys. You guys earned it. Safe travels on the way home, bringing another State Title to Milam County.
  13. I 100% agree. Hopefully the powers that be will see that and hire a new AD for next year. I've heard some pretty depressing things about this coaching staff and can now, if any of it is true, see why they are sucking butt in the second half. I'm still a Yoemen, and will still continue to go and support those kids on the field and stay until the last word of the school song is sung.
  14. I agree wholeheartedly, though I was surprised at the McGregor loss. I still have hope, but it's not looking too good.
