  1. I'm two sided on this. On one hand, I think they should have let him finish his contract out. Contracts don't seem to mean squat these days anymore. On the other hand, having one good season, doesn't justify keeping a coach around. The year they got to the playoffs wasn't 50% coaching and 50%players. Since then, and before that one year, has Redwater been competitive in football? I don't like to hear the gene pool argument. You can't tell me that Paul Pewitt, Daingerfield, and Atlanta just "grow" them year after year. Those kids are driven by coaches in a system that seems to work year in and year out. All of this is in my OPINION. Take a poll in the community(outside of school kids and their parents) and see how many think that Redwater footballis something to be proud of. I don't think that the AD is 100% at fault for the results that Redwater has endured over his tenure, but plays a big roll. I'm not sure why the kids want to keep him as head coach. I've heard signs have been put up around the city of Redwater asking for one more year. One more year of what, losses? Why all of the fuss? Again, I still think he should've been able to finish his contract out as AD.
  2. Isn't beating Gilmer any year, beating the State Champions! Sorry....couldn't help myslef. Gilmer is always THE team to beat around this area.
  3. It's not that I think LE can't win. Here is the reason why I think they won't win. Over a 10 game period, Pentalties = 86 for an average of 8.6 per game Yards from Penalties = 609 for an average of 60.9 per game Fumbles = 38 for an average of 3.8 per game Interceptions thrown = 5 I wish I knew how many touchdowns were called back LE has talent, i don't dispute that at all. LE could shock Gilmer again. But, if you think about all of the momemtum busters these stats add up too, it is mind boggling how they are in the playoffs. If LE plays its best game all year, then they can pull the upset. It is playoff time however, and you have to be able to play quality ball. LE hasn't done that IMO. Turnovers and penalties will kill your chances in a ball game. Gilmer knows that from last year's game. I am a realist and not a hater of LE. I graduated from LE so I'm cheering them on.
  4. LaMichael James reminds me alot of Darren McFadden of Arkansas. Especially this year, I think both are running TD's and throwing for TD's. They both are lightining fast! You will not catch either if they break into the open field. It wouldn't suprise me if Arkansas tries to recruit LJ. He needs about 25 more lbs to his frame and he would really be a pheonom.
  5. I'm pulling for LE. I think if LE can keep from shooting itself in the foot, LIKE IT HAS ALL SEASON, LE can make it a close game. However, LE plays very inconsistant, and from what I hear, Gilmer is very disciplined. LE has a lot of pressure on itself as well. I truly hope this game isn't a blowout on either side of the ball. Does anyone have LE's stats on the year as far as penalties and turnovers?
  6. Wow! LE has got to be proud of the education this kid is getting! This isn't even worth reading!
  7. No No...don't get me wrong. By no means am I asking for Redwater to get some respect. Thanks for the positive comments. I know Redwater hasn't really ever been a power in football. Its kind of expected year in and year out that Redwater is going to be at the bottom of the district. With that being said, there is no reason for people to rub it in their face and say because of them being the "bottom" of the district, that they shouldn't even play football. They truly have as much heart, spirit, and drive as the top of the district and love the game of football. It's great for them to win some games and I congratulate them for it. We all know what kind of seasons they've had in the past. Good luck to the Brahmas and everyone from Pewitt be safe getting to Redwater.
  8. I look for this to be a good game. Here is what I don't understand. Why is it that people aren't giving any kind of congratulatory compliments to Redwater? They are doing much better this year than last year. They have scored more points this year and are very scrappy. True they "might" finish last in the district, but they deserve as much praise as everyone else for winning games. Redwater isn't a football town per se, but the community support continues to blow my mind with the types of seasons they have had. I expect a HUGE crowd(standing room only) at Dragon Stadium Friday night. The things that bother me are the comments on here saying things like Redwater shouldn't even step on the field. Give them a break, not asking for respect but DANG.....!!!!!!!
  9. Not that is the attitude to have mptiger54. I honestly mean that in a the best way.
  10. PG's not scared of LE and LE isn't overlooking them by any means. I can gaurantee that. I'm not even going to try and call who wins this game. If the LE team that played Pitt shows up, then LE will win. If the LE team that played the other 6 games shows up, then PG will win. PG unfortunatly has Trey Reed out. Would have loved to see him and LJ go at it. From what I've read, PG is a solid and smart team. LE has athletic talent and I think PG has a fair amount as well. I think the speed on LE's side is the talent that tips the scale as far as athletics goes. PG has some good size boys. PG is 4-2 and LE is 3-4. That's gotta say a little something.
  11. Redwater vs. Paul Pewitt. I'm expecting a LARGE crowd.
  12. LE is very prone to this. They did a good job last week. If you look back at LE's previous games you will see that this can and may very well happen.
  13. To answer your question honestly. I'm not boycotting anything. I'm not jumping on a bandwagon. I say congrats where they are due. The rest of my HS football season is planned out and LE isn't included. I still root for them, but I'm not going to any games. Going to Redwater this week and Texas High Next week.
  14. To throw in my two cents, I think the announcer at Redwater does a good job. He adds a lot of "color" to his announcements/calls. He'll add in "Great run" or "Crushing Tackle" and things like that for either team. He his the best I've heard in Bowie County.
  15. I would have to say he (kid from SS) is one of the best in East Texas if not the best. Also, you have to consider his offensive line gives him all day to throw the ball.
  16. I will just simply agree with this and let it go. The thread should stay on topic. If anyone wants to discuss any comments I have said...plz feel free to U2U me.
  17. You all need to understand something up front. I want LE to win state again. I want them to win it every year. As far as bashing, I have been harsh on the team. Maybe a little to harsh. I just feel that some have had blinders on and can't see what I've seen. I feel it is important to let those who haven't gone to the games or seen the team, know what the team looks like from my opinion. That is what is great about this website....opinions. I'm sorry I've made many of you angry. I still support them in the fact that I want them to win above all others. I just can't make myself go to another game and watch them continue to embarrass themselves. That is a personal choice on my part and I know many of you say "good, we don't want you there". Thats fine. I guess here is my point. I live in the Redwater Community. The team got beat really bad by Daingerfield last week 68-24 i think it was. It is easier to sit and watch that because they play good football and just got beat by a better team. Even in LE's win against Center 28-0, it was a terrible football game to watch because of the play of LE. IMO LE isn't doing anything to improve. Again sorry to get you so riled up everyone. I'm just trying to call it like I see it and be an objective fan.
  18. Just calling it like I see it. From what I've read of Pittsburg, they seem to be the team to beat. Kendall Wright is a wonderful athlete and his team appears to rally around him. RC is a great team. Pittsburg has probably learned from that game. I'm trying to be real as far as the LE team goes. I'm a grad of LE and have followed the team for years. I can remember going to ball games as far back as 1984. I'm a fan but I'm also being a realist. I don't have blinders on. Sharkb8r, know that I'm not attacking you as a person. I'm entitled to my opinions as well. If an administrator thinks that I'm doing something wrong than the administrator should tell me and I will stop posting my negative opinions. I hope LE wins, I'm rooting for them. Just don't see it happening the way LE has played football this year. Good luck to both teams.
  19. I hope that I'm wrong. I hope it was just that LE was just playing superior teams, and those teams were CAUSING the turnovers and all of the personal foul, holding, and offsides penalties, the bad snaps, the missed blocks, dropped passes, and blown coverages. I can't believe that after 6 games of the same stuff week in and week out. LE hasn't improved the slightest bit. I was hoping that in going to the SS game that I would see that turn around. To answer your question, yes I did follow the team to the state championship game last year. I got to see football all year long. What LE is doing now can't really be considered football...except for the James kid. I don't like to see a team beat them selves. That is all LE does this seaon. As far as the game goes Pitt seems to be the team to beat in district right now. Atlanta is always tough, PG has made improvements. Pitt will be ready for LE. LE doesn't seem to be ready for anyone.
  20. I'm going with Pitt on this one. I have to say that this is the worst LE team I have ever seen. Yes they have LJ but that is it. I don't know how any posters can pick LE after the terrible play they keep showing week in and week out. I had to leave the LE/SS game before half was over. LE looked terrible. I'm not gonna take anything away from SS either. SS would have beaten LE even if LE had played a perfect game. It won't suprise me if LE doesn't make the playoffs. I hope they actually don't make the playoffs. Gilmer deserves a worthy rematch. Won't get it with this years LE team. It definitly isn't LE's district. The only way I can describel LE is PITFUL. They are so awful I won't attend another game of theirs this year. There is losing by getting beat by the other team(which I can accept) and then there is losing because of lack luster desire and skill to play the game(which I can't accept). LE is the bottom or next to the bottom of the district....won't suprise me a bit.
  21. I am a leopard fan by blood. I've followed them for years and played ball there. I've only been to one game this year(Center) but listened to the rest on the radio. LE won the Center game by talent alone, it was the most boring game I have ever been to. LaMichael James is the real deal. In saying that, if you listen to some of the other posters on LE based forums, and based on the game I went to, LJ is about all LE has. He will make some big plays off of talent alone. All of the teams that LE faced/faces this year are going to key on him because w/o him LE seems to have no other big playmakers. I don't know of anything about SS springs but I'm picking them to win because of LE's constant ability to shoot themselves in the foot with penalties and turnovers. LJ or not...you can't win games with poor play. That is all LE does as of late...play poorly(like a 7th grade ball team learning the game.) I am a fan that still cheers LE on above all others, but I am a grown man that loves the game of football and call it like I see it. I TRULY HOPE LE MAKES ME EAT CROW TONIGHT.
  22. Shame on you for saying something like that! Shame on you! The kids at Redwater have every right to have a football program like any other school. They enjoy the game as much as anyone. As a first year employee at Redwater, I have never seen as much school spirit as the students and fans put out here. True that they haven't had a traditionally successful football team, but they play with as much heart and PRIDE as any other team. Like someone else said earlier....it sure is fun to kick someone who is down! Well, I'll say this, 6 weeks grades comes out pretty soon and I know Redwater won't be losing that many athletes(if any)....they have the skill WHERE IT COUNTS!! Shame on you!
  23. I only mean this as an honest question, I'd like to hear from non Gilmer fans as well. Is Justin Johnson that good? I keep hearing how good he is and I think back on the LE game where he didn't look spectacular in any sense of the matter. Did he have a bad game then? or was that the first real defense he had to run against. Again I'm asking this as an honest question. He must be pretty good to get selected to be a part of that game.
  24. There is definitely nothing wrong with having school pride. A lot of schools around the area need it, regardless of what their sports team is doing. I will say though that there is such as a thing as modesty and class. I'm not sure why this thread was even posted. That being said, I do think D'field will win this game but Redwater will fight tooth and nail in this game. They are a better team than last year.
