One could argue that the Groveton, West Sabine, Lovelady district is as tough in east texas, at least at the top. They got farther than that district last year and according to the coaches poll have all three teams rated higher.

I'll go with the coaches poll since IMO they have better understanding of football. For example the Lovelady Lions the past two years have been picked to finish fourth in district by DC and have won district the first year and went to the semi finals the next. Just an example since I follow them more than most 1a in east Texas.

Great game played by two very good teams. Carlisle is a class act and has had a year to remember. Congrats to Lovelady on their accomplishments this year, especially this baseball season. This is the best Lovelady team in the history of the school and you should be proud. Good luck in Round Rock!

Pitching and defense wins. Carlisle had neither and Lovelady did. He may not throw as hard as some but the freshman for the Lions did a heck of a job tonight of getting out of what little trouble he got into and the defense behind him was outstanding i.e. catcher and centerfielder.

You make it sound like all of these players were out at one time and that was not the case. Murray pitched the last game of district when Taylor was ineligible. Make the grades and maybe you could have taken a different path. Bottom line is LL v. Carlisle state quarter finals.

Lovelady actually beat Grapeland three times. It should be a great series.

Biggest star for Baylor track looked like the girl from Kileen at least that is where I was told she was going. She was worth the price of admission!!

If you mean deserved is that his coach sent in and the others did not then yes he deserved it. If you mean he actually was that caliber of a player then you are sadly mistaken. Very few of the players that are on that team are of all state caliber. Alto, McCamey, Chilton, Iola, Lovelady all have better players and if you do not agree then how do you explain the fact that they were still playing football when these all state players were getting ready for bball.

kid from Colmesneil makes all state and can't even make first team all district. Gunnels from Lovelady is the reason that Carlisle, Union Hill, and Grapeland were playing basketball early and was the defensive player of the year in their district and he is not even mentioned. These teams look good for the moms and dads but are not realistic in the best this region or state has to offer.

Your, you are wrong. Iola can not even think about playing with Alto. I watched you last year when you tried to play with Lovelady's speed and got beat and Alto is way better than that team. Alto by as many as they choose!

Weak district is not the answer. Groveton is very good just not in Alto's league but who is, and Lovelady is still in the playoffs. Maybe they just played somebody in non district unlike some of these 10 or 11 win teams.

Being in a tie and then coming back to win the rematch is a little different than getting beat by 43 and winning the rematch. Sandies have their work cut out for them in this one. Lovelady by 14.

They play the winner of Lovelady v. Grapeland. The West Sabine- Cayuga winner will take on either Carlisle or Celeste.

How is it that a school like Groveton whose record against Lovelady is like probably 30 something to 2 can get so worked up about a game against them. I mean if it was a back and forth thing I could understand. It says something to me that Groveton has fallen to measuring themselves against a team they have dominated. Either poor Groveton or way to go Lovelady.

All I know is that last year when Lovelady was ahead by 14 and had the ball at the end of the game with more time than was left this past Friday they took a KNEE and let the clock run out. You can't justify wrong you can only try to make it sound better.

I would hope that what happened late in the game is not "tradition" because if it is you can have it!
