  1. lets call it what it is! The 2 best teams from the best District in the Regional. The way its supposed to be. Gilmer was better than WC and PG was better than SV. This will be a great game!
  2. PG held Sunday to 67 yrds last year. Dude is a man in a boys league. Good defenses shut him down. Please dont say WC running attack is comparable with PG running attack.
  3. Thats true .... just ask Highland Park. Man Frisco had their number this year.
  4. Pretty sure Gilmer lost by 2 tds to PG once this year.
  5. Harmon is the team mvp to me yes, but no matter how good you are you have to have some talent around you. I am very anxious to watch Woodside next year. Dont know if he has Harmons grit and determination but he certainly has a cannon for an arm.
  6. No doubt and PG was sloppy with penalties and turnovers but still won very convincingly.
  7. Beat SV by 21. thats an a## whippin in my book. Pitt game showed the ability of the Grove to win the close one in a semi final best win of the year to me. Lets not forget PG was almost all juniors and sophomores last year!
  8. Lets not forget Harmon went 16-0 and won a state Title his sophomore year. He went right back his junior year.
  9. You mean the Waco Connally that was one of the most over rated teams in 4A. We all said at the beginning of the season that Gilmer should have been #2 in 4AD2. WC's STR was pathetic. Lets not forget them struggling to beat Salado who looked like a Pewee team against the Grove. Grove fans knew PG and Gilmer would be playing for regional.
  10. It is and thats why most football critics will tell you "To beat PG you have to do it by stopping the run with the defensive front" Pg has big passing plays on all of the teams they play. Harmon avgs almost 30 yrds per pass. Pass protection formations get death by a thousand cuts. Load the box and you get mortally wounded. That is why PG struggles to beat Carthage. With their defensive front they can stay in base packages and defend both.
  11. Pg iQB in Gilmer’s system not so great Gilmer QB’s in PG system they are better - I disagree Ill Take Ben Harmon over Hurt and Tennison any day in any system just on his effort and leadership. His work ethic is impeccable, his teammates will go to war with him. His football IQ is second to no other player and he is one of the toughest kids I have ever seen play the game. Gilmer RB’s in PG system and behind that line they are better - Disagree The triple threat of Garrett, Martin, and Hicks is the engine in the ground game. Throw in Johnson and Nelson just to put some icing on the cake. PG's running backs are very good. the rest I agree with you.
  12. Ok previous contest Gilmer 380 total yards- 68 Rushing 312 Passing PG 488 total yards- 309 rushing 179 passing Seems to me that Gilmer needs to work on Run Defense and PG needs to work on pass defense. PG has put up over 300 yrds of rushing in each of the last 3 Games against Gilmer. So its not Gilmers passing D that is the problem with PG. The problem is PG's run game. When Gilmer comes up to stop the run they get hit with huge passing plays. If you do not have a front that can shut down the run then that equals trouble against the Grove. You can stack against a team that is great at the run game and not so good at passing but PG is both. It is truly a pick your poison offense.
  13. The reason Gilmer struggles with pass protection against PG probably has a lot to do with the relentless ground game from PG. Lets not ignore the 307 rushing yrds PG put on Gilmer last year in the playoffs.
  14. he got double teamed which allowed Phillips and Burris to shut down the run and sack the QB's 4 times.
  15. Whoa! Calm down. Not sure how my comment insinuated that Gilmer is Dumb. For the record: Gilmer is and has been a premier football program. This will not be a cakewalk for either team. Also for the record PG is ranked #1 for a reason. I'm glad your confident in your team as you should be but make no mistake, this will be by far the biggest challenge Gilmer has faced since the previous game with PG. I cant wait for Friday also.
  16. Gilmer will not see the same look or Game plan from PG that they did in the season. That's why PG was able to put 56 points on Gilmer last year in the playoffs but barely beat them in the Regular season. You can expect the unexpected.
  17. PG gets their 5th in a row against their District foe!
  18. PG did not play their best but still way to much for Sunnyvale. had a TD called back for an offensive face mask. Then fumbled it to set SV up on the 3. Yea it was sloppy but still got the win by 3 TD’s.
  19. This is just what PG wanted. I was at the 7 on 7 final and there was alot of smack talk between both of these teams. There is a score to settle PG is going to be up for this game I promise. Sunnyvale better play their best game of the year or this will be ugly.
  20. PG looked as expected. Relentless ground game produced 4 TDs and then passed for 2 TDs. PG called of the onslaught In the 3rd Qtr. and got the youngsters some valuable playoff game experience. Have to give Salado some respect for the grit they showed and class they displayed in the loss. Obviously a well coached team with some upstanding young men. As for the Hawks, it was another dominating win in the playoffs. Saw some changes this game by the PG coaching staff moving players in Various positions that worked extremely well. Coach Fullers pre game plan was right on the money and when Salado adjusted Fuller seemed to counter as if he was in the Salado huddle. That PG defensive front is just a nightmare for heavy run offenses. Congrats to the Hawks on the win and Congrats to Salado for a good season.
