Hey who is #25 and #1 for LE

Last Home game and senior night for the Grove. This will be the last time most of the starters will ever play football in the Hawks nest! They are not going to lose this game, the seniors are fired up and the rest of the team is rallying with them. For me it is also special. This is the last week I will see my last child play at Hawk Stadium.

Yep... Sunnyvale doesn’t scare me. But hey they did beat PG in the 7 on 7 championship game.. so maybe.........naw PG would whip them bad with pads on!!!

Pretty much what I really wanted to say!

Not impressed with their schedule the highest Texas ranked team they have played is Caddo Mills at 343 and based on the rest of their schedule it doesn’t look like they will face a tough team until playoffs. I understand you can only play who your scheduled but Sunnyvale should really consider A top 100 team to play. Reminds me of When PG destroyed Graham and Iowa Park in the last 2 semi finals. They were also blowing out their schedule also.

Right once on Landon and once on Marcus. I understand these guys are used to firing off..

Ok I was trying to remember how many. Thanks for correcting that. BTW that sack from Burris when he was on the ground and got back up and sacked # 11 was awesome. I can’t imagine what he and Jackson will be like as seniors! SCARY!

I agree that the Gilmer O line did a great job. I think they only allowed 3 sacks and that was when the QB was scrambling. My game ball goes to # 11 for the Hawks. He looked like a 7th grade player compared to #4 and he had a pick and broke up three other jump balls to # 4. His vertical was incredible. my goof ups of the game go to the 2 false starts when it’s 4th and short for the hawks. Play of the game goes to Nick Martin for stripping the football for the touchback.

PG did a great job protecting Ben when he dropped back to pass. I was worried that he would not have much time with the play action but he was able to stand tall and deliver some really good throws. Sergio has become the Buckeye nemesis. He had another big night against Gilmer. As for the Gilmer QB, I think 12 was clearly the more effective QB. 11 can scoot but his height was an issue trying to pass over those tall PG linemen. There was nowhere for him to run when he tried take off. 12 was killing it on the back shoulder pass. On that first interception the QB and receiver were not on the same page. It certainly was nice to see #11 back for the grove. Kid played great. Im sure we will meet again.

Gilmer defended the run well. It seems they forgot PG can pass and pg made them pay!

Agreed this should be a heck of a game. I wouldn't say that PG is more talented than Gilmer either, but I will say that their Defensive line is more talented than most teams in 4A for sure. Without a doubt this is the most talented D line PG has ever had including 2017.

I think all we can do is wait and see on this game. It does seem that Gilmer may have a little trouble with the wing t just basing off of the Paris game. PG is a better wing T offense than Paris. There's also the fact that Gilmer looked really good against Carthage so maybe that Gilmer D has gotten better since the Paris game. Like I said for me this is one of those games that you just cant predict. That's what makes this game probably game of the week.

Atlanta should handle MV,, PG and Gilmer well, who knows?

Gilmer will come to play. I have no doubt. The great thing for PG is this game will be the healthiest they have been since the Gladewater game. This will be a great opportunity for both teams to really gauge themselves and see where they stack up in D2. I already know that these are the best 2 teams in District.

The only style of offense you need to have to beat PG is a really good offensive line. You will find out how good Gilmer is Friday I promise.

And your opinion does make perfect sense. But that is not how PG plays. They get good penetration up front their outside linebackers contain the edge and their inside shoot gaps.

Ok so i'm reading that some Gilmer fans would like to see the other QB # 11 in this game. Then other Gilmer fans say they are concerned about his experience. Let me ask you this which one do you want to see against the best front 7 your going to play this year? What if the young gunslinger has a bad game and gets a confidence kick. What if the more experienced yet less accurate starts forcing the ball and throws some picks? My answer to the Gilmer fans: It does not matter. While the PG defense is not at 100%, it is getting there. So whoever plays QB is really not the key to the game. What is key is who is protecting that QB. Gilmer is good so the Hawks will be ready for a battle. In the end I think PG will be on top. If Gilmer plays sloppy PG could come out on top by a good margin.
