  1. Put it in Lubbock. Better facilities than everything you guys have mentioned. Better traffic, better accommodations. Just as "central" as College Station basically
  2. Don't put 11 offensive players in the box and they won't?/ can't? And I've been on one of the "original" 10-1 staffs. For the 10-1 special most are actually running now, there are a few key coaching points some obviously missed on their youtube videos they watched. Lol.
  3. Also being offensive oriented, a "good" offense makes an ok defense look A LOT better. Tech for example this year, lead the Big 12 in time of possession for a while, and the defense looked a lot better because of it, that defense was "better" than usual for Tech, but was still a bad defense. You can "spread" teams out and still go on 10-12 play drives. I highly suggest it actually. Especially with a ton of High school teams employing the Cov 4 bend don't break policies they are doing now. Being a "spread" guy, I've had years where we have thrown the ball 75% of the time, and thrown for 3600+ yards, have had others where we run the ball 75% of the time, and only throw for 2000ish yards. Both scenarios were highly successful offensively. Have won 2+ playoff games doing it both ways. The offense can use the same system/schemes, just controlling the frequency at which you call certain plays makes a large difference. Obviously, get your best kids the ball in as many different ways as possible. If your best athlete happens to be semi-QB material, makes it a lot easier.
  4. Totally 100% disagree. Timing routes are decided Pre-Snap. If you are lined up in a way that scares me off, I work a 2-3 receiver High Low combination elsewhere on the field, If I can take the timing route, that's what I do. No play is drawn up with 1 option, except in crappy play action plays you see a lot of heavy run teams call. Would you rather your "inferior" kids be limited to a phone booth, or would you rather them be able to take advantage of space inside/outside/over the top. And I understand its REALLY hard for people that didn't grow up around it to even think about spread concepts openly. Just like its hard for us others to understand phone booth football. Both can work, its all about the johnnys and the joes.
  5. Yes, GA and his disciples run/ran the "straight T", they call it Full House, but the same concept, more multiple at the HS, but still use it. IE-Brock and Pilot Point currently. Brocks teams are really good, Pilot Points aren't. 100% talent/size based.
  6. I know we are primarily talking about Football, but I saw a basketball team with easily the most physical talent in the district, not even close to the rest of district, go 3-23 overall and 0-10 in district. Coaching was just absolutely atrocious.
