  1. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.......YES! We don't need to beat this dead horse any longer. Keep them all there, and never move it again.
  2. Assembling a COMMITTEE is the worst idea anyone ever came up with. It likely started with some univerity teachings in administration classes. Then some small balls Supt ran with it. The public should have NO say in any school hirings. They get to vote for board members. That is their role ......PERIOD! School officials get paid big bucks to make these decisions and that who should make them. Not Joe the plumber, or Susie the bank teller. Keep the parents and community members out of it.
  3. You Gilmer folks just keep it up about your coaches. Better take a look at what has happened to Navasota. Appreciate your coaches and appreciate them during the tough times too. That staff has a BUNCHAAAAAAAAA W's under their belt. Also plenty of them since Traylor has left. I've seen greed of a community kill alot more programs than any coaching staff ever could.
  4. Back during the old 3A / new 4A McFarlin era, Daingerfield ran the power I and wishbone. Went to state champioship game and a state semi. Daingerfield has won with many different systems. All it takes for those kids is some good coaching and let them do the rest.
  5. More two back and TE styles are slowly coming back. UNDER CENTER not as much though. Just something about the QB being 5 back in the gun that makes things seem easier for these HS QB's. Most playoff games I saw this year didn't seem as spread pass happy, but the gun was still there.
  6. MV has some dudes balling right now. Being hot at the right time helps.
  7. Word on the Street, is that Whitehouse was already on their way back to crowning homecoming queens and it isn't going to get better. Cook snuck in behind McFarlin and pulled a Barry Switzer for a year or two, and is wise no sneak in behind Copeland as the AD. New football coach will have many challenges.
  8. Correct, one small little group of parents. Two of them had some power. The others were just some numbers for their group to make it look like more. Trust me, the new AD's time just got limited.
  9. Ok, I agree with you on this. However, I also feel this is where the core of the school breakdown is. These types of families and parents are far and few between. So years ago there was this big push to MAKE certain parents were involved in the schools business. This was even a big part of the entire Masters of Education curriculum. Parents became part of committees, parents were involoved in descision making, parents had to be informed of school happenings to very high levels, etc, etc, etc.............WTH? WHY? School business shouldn't be any of their business unless they are an elected board member by the tax paying community. The board is suppose to be their voice. It makes me want to puke when I hear someone say, "well I pay taxes to that school so I should have a say". Well, you do! Your voice is who you vote for. Other than that NO! You don't have a say. ALLLLLLLLL of this is a trickle down that has led to weak school adminstration employees who really no longer run the schools the way they should be. They run them in a way that pleases the parents. Period! It is a broken system and it will never be a system that can now be fixed. Needless to say, the end product is the kid we are now putting into society, and will one day be even worse than their parents were. Lastly, okay; Coach Wasson broke the rules......and ok, petty rules. I agree with you here too! There should be some corrective action taken. Write him or pencil whip him just like we do the kids. However, if you don't like the guy don't do this BIG witch hunt thing you did. If you think these are major infractions, Hell, fire his like a man and move on. Why make it this big dog and pony show? Understand, I know more inside scoup about this new AD and how all this unfolded that I'd like to know. Simply because it #### me off when things are handled like this, especially when it has to do with a really good man. He very likely was breaking these rules, and probably with knowledge, but assumed it was fine because everyone else breaks these same rules. Right, wrong, or indifferent it was still handled the wrong way by just another spineless administrator...................who was pleasing a few disgruntled parents.
  10. RULES????????? Seriously? Rules in the schools these days are the JOKE! There aren't any. Yeah, I agree with you.....and if they break a rule, they get pencil whipped and a bunch of red tape follows. Kids don't get kicked out of school anymore, and there are no real consequences for their actions. It is all about seeing how many fruit cakes we can keep in, and how many parents we can please. No child left behind.....blah, blah, blah! When the schools started changing 15-20 years ago, we started seeing the results. Guess what, it isn't going to stop. Like Michael Berry said on the radio yesterday, "the next shooter and the next school is out there and it WILL happen again". Yes, it is a society thing all together, but part of the blame lies directly on how and what we have allowed our school systems to become.
  11. THEY ARE PETTY RULES! You can walk into any program across the state and find rules being broken. PETTY RULES! That is when it is a witch hunt. Hal Wasson was doing what "almost" every program in that area does. He just got called out by an AD that had an axe to grind. I can promise you there are others out there breaking MAJOR rules! Go to a 7 on 7 tournament. There are more rules being broken at one of these events in one day, than Hal Wasson broke in all of his years combined.
  12. Jakebrake, if there were more DA's still in the business, schools wouldn't be like they are today. I wish he'd got a million! I'm telling you, stupid people that are running the schools are out of control. DA taught thousands of young men lessons that will last them a lifetime. Most coaches these days don't......and can't anyway. Sure, some of those lessons were learned the hard way, but dayum, isn't that life! Things I hate, going to watch a high school football game where the coaches have no control or discipline. Right when you think they might, you see the star player do something out of whack and it doesn't even get addressed by the coach. What I loved about watching a DA coached team, them suckers were in line! From the best to the worst player. Always liked watching GA Moore teams too. They were the same way!
  13. TOTAL BS witch hunt. Just sit the guy down and tell him you want to hire a different coach. Do be a wuss! Wasson is a very good man with good ethical standards. MANY other schools break these same infractions. Remember, when he took over for Todd Dodge he didn't change much they were already doing...hummmmmm? All of the metro mess schools do things the same way he has been doing them. Heck, coaches from the opposing and surrounding schools work these camps. They ALL do it! Lastly, we have allowed our suits in education to start doing things this way for an easy "push someone out" approach. Then we wonder why our schools, educators, and students have to deal with the real possibilty of violence such as that in Florida. The BS has gotten BAD! Quit tip toeing around and have some balls.............with all issues! Hell, no wonder so many of our kids are screwed up in the head. We make them that way.
  14. Probably Smith from Carthage. I'm hearing Rusk head coach is looking hard into it. He was at Dayton a few years and was succesful there.
  15. This is what it has come to folks. Simple as that! Now, what we have these days are those that feel entitled and think because they are elected to these positions they can do whatever in the hell they want with a coach, teacher, or administrator. They have little regard in realizing that these people do this for their living and it is their JOB! Their paycheck! Too many community members and elected board members see it as their hobby like that of a summer select coach. Communities and school district need to start taking note that some of these people are going to start fighting back. Yes, it has been going on for years, but with social media now and with soooooo many school districts acting this way when disgruntled about little Johnny, and little Susie, these professionals have been backed into a corner just as DA has been now. Why, well when this kind of slander is made more public through social media it kills them when trying to look for another position. In the past if you sued a school district, you could count on being black balled from other opportunities. Well today, even without filing suit you get black balled because of the wide spread attention something like this brings. Honestly, I wish him and others who have a good case the best of luck and hope more start fighting back. School districts and loud mouthed community/board members need to start being held accountable as much as the employees are. Just because Johnny, Susie, mommie, daddy, aunta, or gramps doesn't like the coach, it does not give one single right to rid them of their job and reputation. Rock on DA and hope you and your attorney nail their to the wall.
