  1. When I covered Big Sandy, Lovie played tight end and middle linebacker. He was a superior tight end, but totally dominated at middle linebacker. His mother once had a dream that he would be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, I think maybe it’s time for that to become a reality.
  2. He is a carbon copy of Drew Coleman his senior year at Henderson. Drew had better stats, but Carlisle gets so far ahead so fast Gerald hasn’t been unleashed for much more than a half so far.
  3. That was David Overstreet, Lovie Smith (yes that Lovie Smith) and David Chalk among others. I covered them in the playoffs and they dominated everyone. Jim Norman was the coach and was elected mayor.
  4. Ten of Carlisle’s starters go both ways. Only suited up 21 against Union Grove because of injuries , so if Big Sandy loses, I don’t think you can blame it on running out of gas. Big Sandy coach told me he suits up 35.
  5. Simple fact, Carlisle beat Troup on Troup’s field.
  6. 350 plus yards total offense Union Grove minus 8 yards total offense Gerald had 90 rushing , 10 of 13 passing 154 yards Jay 8 catches 85 yards all this off top of my head, I’m in Waco playing with grandsons, stat book at home kicker field goals 31, 30, 35 and 37 yards, five for five on PATs
  7. Baker said no new injuries. I knew about those you mentioned.
  8. Coach said no injuries. Freshman kicker had field goals of 38, 31, 35 and 30 without a miss was five for five on PATs.
  9. Field very muddy, lots of slipping during pregame.
  10. Just got them from coaches. Walker had 13 tackles, two assists, two tackles for loss, fumble recovery for TD Jamion 8 tackles, one for loss, one sack, one QB pressure, fumble recovery Adkison 5 tackles, 2 assists, 1 tackle for loss, interception, 2 passes knocked down total of 8 tackles for loss, i thought Jamion and Trey Adkison big difference makers Chain, I keep reading on here about Alto’s turnovers being the difference, but five of the six were forced turnovers, best I’ve seen a Carlisle defense play in last three years. I don’t diss teams on here or anywhere else, but the bottom line is Carlisle dominated the game in every phase. All four of the interceptions were because the defender was where he was supposed to be and Walker’s fumble return for a touchdown was caused by a big hit. Alto is a good team that ran into a better team last night. The Bakers know what they’re doing. having said that, not sure I’d look forward to playing them again
  11. Gerald 160 on 12 carries, 2 RDs, eight of 14 passing, 142 yards three TDs Jamion 103 on nine carries, 2 TDs, Carlise 405 yards total offense Alto 254 Adkison, Gerald, Hernandez, DeLeon had interceptions Walker and Jamion had fumble recoveries
  12. Great shape, helicopter came in and blew it dry.one of players’ father paid for it. Defensive speed was overwhelming
  13. Well, Chain, I’m convinced. Carlisle really does have a chance to make the playoffs, if everything falls into place.
  14. Had to go to Cotulla and back today, rained entire way, down and back. Everything flooded and it’s supposed to rain all week. Hope they can play Friday.
  15. Gerald Turner was 11of 11 passing, 244 yards, four touchdowns. Jay Price had five catches for 156 yards and two TDs. Carlisle 21 first downs, Cushing four. Cushing had minus 21 yards rushing. Carlisle 451 yards total offense, Cushing 107, with 73 coming on one play. Gerald’s first five passes went to five different receivers for 128 yards and two touchdowns.
  16. Carlisle JV playing at Grace tonight at 7
  17. Got a question. Some reports have Cushing 4-1, others 4-0, what’s the deal? I know they were behind Mt Enterprise 14-0 at halftime when the game was called due to weather. Is there an UIL rule that pertains to this?
  18. Looks to me like Cushing’s best chance is to pick on #5, he’s the weak link. Throw at him, kick it to him. Only chance you have.
  19. Well, the action certainly picked up today. Don’t stop.
