I’ll take my helping, please. I did not think we’d blow y’all out, but did think we’d win by double digits and our defense would control your offense. Our defense did well at times and poorly, especially our secondary had a hard time tonight. Congratulations to the Gilmer players, coaches and community on a great win. Go Dawgs!

The way our fans were into the game last week was what it should be all the time. It was good, still not much interaction with or response for the cheerleaders, but that’s the way we’ve always been and it’s not really something that’s easily changed, especially now that we’re so accustomed to winning. However, the crowd was so much better Surratt even mentioned how pleased he was with the fan support while hosting Chalk Talk the other day.

Man, by the time KJ is a senior - whew. Sucker is going to be so good.

I understand where you’re coming from. Y’all enjoy.

That’s the problem, some folks are too scared to strive for greatness and that’s the God’s honest truth in this situation and in life. This situation is the perfect example. Good coach, wins district and more wins than any coach in Longview history, but turtles in big games 95% of the time. Could easily upgrade at least the OC/QB coach or make big changes and actually try to win state on a routine basis with all these athletes you have every single year. Got a good job, pays pretty well with decent benefits, it’s familiar and comfortable. This job, it doesn’t require much effort anymore, kind of on autopilot. Could spiff up the resume and look for a job or company (coach) with a much higher ceiling for me (Longview) and actually apply my skill set (your Lobo athletes); learn the ropes and see if I can’t just go out and double, triple or quadruple my income (state championships), with way less hours sitting behind a desk stuck in the same old rut (losing).

PG was just certain this was their year and when it didn’t happen they began to try to explain why it didn’t happen. So, an easy target is performance of the officials. Reality is Carthage got the short end of the stick on officials, played bad, had flu complications with some of the players, were down 14 in the 3rd quarter and still found a way to win. Ok, so, that’s the last thing I’m posting on this thread. Bring on those Buckeyes! Go Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!

So, the PG fans, there are way more than three or four of them making derogatory statements. The negativity toward Carthage by PG fans is more of an epidemic than one-off encounters, like all the PG approaching Carthage fans throughout Longview after the game to tell us we didn’t win that game fairly. PG had a two touchdown lead in the third quarter and got beat, and it wasn’t because of the refs.

Wow, their postgame rhetoric is way worse than I thought. I mean, everybody is in agreement we paid the refs, we got all the calls, we wouldn’t have won without the refs and no wonder we win so many state championships. I don’t know what to tell them, because it was brutally obvious PG got the most benefit out of the refs throughout the game not Carthage. I agree we MAY have horse collared that guy and yes, we may have interfered with Jackson on their last chance play, but the no calls PG benefited from while they were on offense and defense were astounding. And that disconcerting signals call they earned as we were in 4th & 5 from our own 20 or whatever….they should be ashamed instead of mad at the refs. That is blatant attempted cheating not an incidental face mask or even hands to the face. These dudes were out there yelling GO at our OL trying to get us to jump and got caught then act like being flagged for it is bad officiating. We were surprised they got that call right, but sure glad they did. The truth is it was bad both ways, but leaned in PG’s favor as a whole. You can’t control the refs so you just have to play through it and it seems PG isn’t real good at that.

When that popped up on the screen Dad and I looked at each other real quick and just chuckled and shook our heads, like, “No, why did we put that up there?!”.

Haha, well, this year’s team is not on last year’s level. Like SS has said though, we don’t have to be as good as we were last year just better than everyone else in 4A-D2 this year.
-
You’re correct, last year, we had a poor performance against a really good team and almost got beat just like last week against PG. However, last year, realistically, no one was even in the same league as Carthage. I know that sounds arrogant, but just watch our state championship game and then the 4A-D1 title game and come to your own conclusions. And to your point, D1 isn’t always better than D2. It depends on which division we’re in and then whomever else has a really good team that particular year.
