  1. ...David... Years ago i heard David in an interview saying he was making his own film. He said it would take 20 plus years to make, because he was filming a couple of scenes a year, using the same people but using the natural progression of years to add to the authenticity of the film. Don't know if i got that exactly right, don't know what happened to it, don't know if he was delusional when he said it. But, I sure liked his work. I had just bought a used 1st season 'Kung Fu', 2 days before his death. I had forgotten how good 'Kung Fu' was. And it was a western.
  2. Obama continues to drive 1 nail at a time into Americas coffin. The America of our Fathers , Grandfathers and Forefathers is a dying dream.
  3. The crazies and fanatics of this "religion", will twist Obama's speech to be secret code for them to do their evil, from the President, no less.
  4. I suppose you could call this a prediction,...Susan Boyle..."I Dreamed a Dream" She'll fade fast...other than being a you tube hit, hard to believe she'll have any staying power when it comes to the public shelling out their hard earned money on a cd. I won't. It was a nice story while it lasted.
  5. Let me give one that I don't believe has been mention, and it's one of my favorite's, 'The Wind and the Lion' with Sean Connery and Candice Bergen. A great movie with alot of classic scenes. Has Brian Keith with a great portrayl of President Teddy Roosevelt. But it has two incredible scenes that show a group of young marines, double time thru the narrow streets of Morocco to the Palace of the Prince, defended by Palace guards, stopping in front, without warning, "aim, fire... charge". Then near the end, with Candice Bergen and the US Marines surrounded by the Germans, Bergen pulls a rifle on the Captain of the Marines, telling them that "President Roosevelt made a promise to the Raisuli(Connery) and President Roosevelt keeps his promises, I'm going to free the Raisuli." To which the Captain of the Marines, joins in...they walk out of the building to confront the Germans. What I love about those scenes is that it captures the courage and sometimes reckless bravado of our Marines. It also has one of the great lines in a movie, at the end when the Sherif is bemoaning the realization that they're losing everything, everything's changing, to which (Connery) replies, ..." Sherif, is there not one thing in your life that is worth losing everything for?"....Mulay Hamid El Raisuli. This gem of a movie will be shown this Friday night, the 29th, @ 8:00 p.m. on the TCM Channel.
  6. I've have from time to time thought of, if i had the chance to pick one moment in time to go back to,,, not just where I would go but would I really go,,, if you only had a one way ticket, and that destination meant a possible death sentence. Such as , Pearl Harbor, days before leading up to the Japanese attack, would you want to ride the Titanic, whatever. I have always wanted to be at the Alamo, months before the defense of the Mission, leading up to that moment in time. I've been fascinated with what drives men (and women) to do what they do when it comes to having so much passion for something that you're willing to fight and die, especially for something new, such as The Republic of Texas. Some places like "The Garden of Eden" is off limits, God wouldn't allow it because the story would change. I mean how would it ever read right, "Adam and Eve and Cheaptrick 77..."
  7. Don't know if it means anything, but all the times for the games at the Regional tournaments have been removed from the UIL website.
  8. At this point, who cares. Its real simple, win, you play on. Lose, you go home. Nothing else matters. (i.e. records)
  9. Woodrow Wilson lost twice to North Dallas. Lindale did have a round robin scrimmage where North Dallas participated first of the season.(I say that just because it gives us something to compare to the team they couldn't beat) While they've lost close to some good teams, (Rowlett 0-1, Plano 0-0, West Mesquite 0-1, Longview 1-3), they haven't won anything big to write home about. An all hispanic team from a school that doesn't seem to care about the soccer program. They're led by their leading scorer #9 Nicholas Garcia, and #7 Fernandez, both seniors. their other striker/midfielder is #12 Acosta a junior. They have a senior in goal who's adequate. Someone from Longview posted earlier stating that they weren't very athletic. Didn't have a lot of team speed.
  10. Looks like Lindale Boys @ 8pm, @ Forney City Bank Stadium. 800 FM 741 Forney, Texas. Girls @ 6pm against Corsicana Double Header on Tuesday the 31st. PineTree @ 8 pm against North Dallas in Corsicana on Tuesday the 31st. unless something changes.
  11. The big showdown between McKinney and Mesquite Poteet happens monday/tuesday this week, where Poteet survived a shoot out with Richardson Pearce to advance. This was the second shootout in a row for Poteet. They went to a shootout with Hillcrest. McKinney went to overtime before they finally scored to knock off McKinney North, for the third time this season. The surprise team in the upper bracket is Carrollton Newman Smith. After finishing third in their district, they have now beaten Little Elm, Greenville, and Friday nite they knocked off their own District 18 Champs,Carrollton RLTurner. They will now face West Mesquite, who put a late season loss on their District 23 Champs, Poteet
  12. Woodrow Wilson 12-10-2 Last loss was to North Dallas on March 7th. Actually lost both times to ND during district. Longview did beat them first games of the season. VS. At Kincaide Stadium Friday at 8 in Dallas Adamson 15-3-1 Last loss was Jan 23rd. Their most impressive victory was beating Mckinney North early in the season. Winner plays the winner of Lindale vs. Mt.P North Dallas 15-3-3 PineTree did beat ND back on Jan 9th, their 1st loss of the season. ND last loss was on Jan 20th. VS At Tiger Stadium Friday at 8 in Corsicana Corsicana-15-5-5 Last loss was back on Jan 23. Had two ties during their district season including last game of district to Waxahachie. Winner plays the winner of Kilgore vs. PT My picks are Adamson will beat WW Corsicana will beat North Dallas
  13. Corsicana dismantled Roosevelt last nite 5-0. They now await winner of Ennis vs North Dallas. One of these teams is headed for a matchup with Kilgore/Pinetree winner. And yes I am assuming Kilgore beats PG.
