  1. I can go with most of this but the QB comparison. That PG kid has a state title, a runner up, and who knows this year. I think any sort of comparison between these two is erroneous. PG kid is a gamer, he may not be as athletic, but hands down is a better QB (RIGHT NOW). There are zero stats you can show that indicates otherwise. We can talk all day about what the kid from Gilmer could be, but until numbers support it, no one who follows football is going to buy into that thought.
  2. I haven’t seen the kid that played QB last night throw it much. When they played the first time the other QB slung it pretty well.
  3. If PG plays remotely like they did last night Gilmer wins. Cannot afford the penalties and turnovers, and hope to survive against Gilmer. That said, you have to throw the ball well to beat PG. The Bush kid carried the offense on his back last night. He is exceptional, but you cannot be one dimensional and expect to beat PG.
  4. Yea, ideally high school kids are teenagers. Regardless, this is not their brand.
  5. PG is lucky they are not playing Gilmer or WC tonight, they look sloppy. For a group that has been around, this is very uncharacteristic.
  6. Probably been discussed and I am behind, but is the other Gilmer QB hurt?
  7. Gilmer is about the best 9-3 team there is. Losses to Paris (early), Carthage, and PG. WC is solid all the way around. The Gilmer D has shown much improvement from last year. My gut says Gilmer finds a way to get it done in a close one. Furthermore, I think Gilmer winning is the only way PG is dethroned from Region 2. They have seen their offense and played them super tough. I just think one week to prep for PG just isn’t enough these days. Gilmer by 3.
  8. PG wins. The Sunnyvale QB is going to be disrupted too much to get offense going. Big guys on defensive front will be in backfield and have hands up when he throws. This may be over by halftime. I do not like to compare games but their showing against Pitt in playoffs was very underwhelming. PG by 21+.
  9. Texarkana, TX is the place to be on Friday. This game should be a slug fest from start to finish. Both teams are loaded with talent and well coached. You have to love what Gibson has done, but Surratt is a legend. If the defensive line for PG does what it should, and puts pressure on the QB, they get the advantage. That front is top notch at any level of high school football. BUT, I read PG had a big player that plays both sides of the ball on crutches last night. They cannot afford any injuries if they are to pull off the win at home. Who schedules Carthage for homecoming!?
  10. This PG team is older, bigger, and stronger. They have the depth to put this one away early in second half. I think when people are arguing who will win, they forget that the numbers game clearly favors PG. IF PG doesn't turn it over, this one will be well out of reach by end of 3rd. PG by 20+
  11. Wish I could see this one. I figure it to be a fun game. Paris looked pretty impressive week 1 against PG, but two totally different teams with different identities. Like to think Gilmer gets back to usual form (better for East Texas football), and pulls out a win tonight at home. BUT, wouldn't be surprised if Paris came in and pulled out a W. Gilmer by 3.
  12. While I like the early season enthusiasm from the Atlanta faithful, PG wins easily tonight. It may be close for a quarter, but PG is bigger and more athletic as a team. They may not have the sub 4.5 guys, but as a unit they are very good. As the bigger school they will obviously have the depth advantage to boot. The guys on defensive front are too big, too strong, and too physical for most any offensive line in the state of Texas. I suspect it will be a LONG night for rabbit offensive line. They look poised to make another run, PG by 21+
  13. Maybe espn Texarkana. You can google that and there is a little radio at the bottom of the page. They will probably broadcast. The two guys are definitely homers as expected, but they do a very good job at calling the game.
  14. Harris pole has PG by 7. Computer simulator has it PG 40 Cuero 26. Last year, it was WOS who was favored, and the computer sims had them winning by 12. So, take all this with a grain of salt.
  15. I watched the final quarter of Cuero and Silsbee. The kid going to Texas (#3) is a super fast and athletic kid, he did it all. They were most productive when he was in the wildcat. Although he is a better player maker than the Jimmerson kid, I believe Pitt’s skill players as a unit were better. I was not impressed with Silsbee’s offense, and Cuero will have their hands full stopping PG. That said, I think if PG wins the toss they take the ball, and just work to keep #3 off the field. I do like PG is this game, but think it could be a back and forth affair.
  16. The Iowa Park coach said in an interview that he felt they were prepared because they have seen the Wing T multiple times this year. Now, if he truly gathered that PG runs a traditional Wing T from watching film, IP could be in trouble early in this one.
  17. I know this PG team does not have the speed they had last year, but I suspect they will still be faster than IP. Also, game planning for the PG Slot T is a tall task in 4-5 days. I suspect PG wins, and has a much easier week than last. It may be early close, but PG wins by 21+.
  18. IMO, the Pitt QB and WRs were hands down the best PG has seen, and will see this year. They were just that good.
  19. They showed a replay of the PI call and I still thought it was. I can assure you if it wasn’t called the PG faithful would be growling. The game didn’t come down to those penalties. There were 2 INTs and one for pick six, that was the difference in that game. Pitt could not get running game rolling, and take away that pick six, and they walk out of there winners. Way too many variables in that game to blame officiating.
  20. That is not accurate. I watched the game on the internet, it was PI, and the announcers even agreed. He completely cut off his route not having a clue where the ball was. And don’t start with the adopted stripe family, Pitt got a huge penalty and scored after Jimmerson was sacked for a big loss. ALL of the personal fouls were good calls. I can honesty say I didn’t see the recovery, so not arguing that.
  21. Those kids left it all out there tonight. You may be mad about outcome, but you have to be proud of the fight. Wow, district 6 showing what physical football is all about. Classy kids on both sides of the ball, what a game. Best of luck to PG.
  22. I am no expert, but PG had been held to under 28 three times all year. One game was in the pouring rain, one was against Carthage, and then again against Connally (I think it was wet conditions there). I highly doubt the Pitt defense is going to accomplish that task, BUT I have been wrong before.
  23. PG has the better defense. They get the stops, and grind the clock. I think it will be a great first half, but the Hawks pull away late. Pitt’s lack of depth will be exposed by the PG’s physical run and PA pass. Another thing I see consistently is the PG wins the halftime adjustments battle between coaches. It will take an exceptional team performance from the Pitt players and coaches to take down the Hawks. PG by 2 TDs.
  24. Pittsburg has great speed. It is no secret that they lack depth, but they come to play every week. If they can steal a possession or two by generating turnovers, I believe they win. The weather will be a huge factor in this game. If it pours, it will slow down Lorena’s passing attack, and keep those two way players from being spread out and ran like dogs all game. That said, I think the bad weather benefits Pitt the most. District 6 in Region 2 is the toughest district in 4a Div 2, and Pitt is battle tested. They find a way tonight in a squeaker.
