  1. I think PG wins again. When they played earlier this year the weather was terrible, and PG could not open up the run game with the pass. Gilmer is playing much better now, and their RB appears to be healthy. I think the BIG factor in this game will be the Gilmer OL. If they come to play, who knows...I know the it’s a cliche, but whoever wins the battle upfront is going to win this game. Definitely do not think this is going to be another 14-0 type game (unless weather is terrible). Let’s not forget PG has repeatedly shot themselves in the foot in games, that could be a big factor in this one. Three scoring opportunities blundered against Waco. Look, I almost talked myself out of picking PG, but sticking with the Hawks.
  2. Nobody said anything about “giving” anything, but simple math will show that your defense has scored 9 points tonight. Anytime your defense gets 9 points it’s huge, and in this game it has been the difference.
  3. Good thing GW has that safety, and scoop and score to keep them in this.
  4. Well, I said PG wouldn’t beat themselves, but not the case so far. They have turned the ball over twice in GW territory, and killed just about every drive they had going. If GW scores on their first drive of the second half, it could get interesting.
  5. I haven’t seen Gladewater, but if PG defense plays like it did last night, it will be whoever gets a couple of stops. PG is nothing like last year (expected), but they will not beat themselves, and are still a really good team. Cannot make mistakes and expect to hang in there with the Hawks.
  6. PG was super sloppy against Henderson, and still got the W. Atlanta isn’t near the team Henderson is in my opinion. Atlanta has the speed, but they haven’t shown up except for one half this season. Atlanta defensive front will not be as good as Henderson, and as long as PG cleans up the mistakes, they should roll. PG by 20+.
  7. I highly doubt anyone in this room is going to concede to that. I mean 10 times..lol. Carthage is its own beast, but PG plays a style of football that is a defensive coordinators nightmare. I think if they did play, PG would have a legit chance especially with them not being familiar with one another.
  8. Unfortunately, I bought into the hype of Graham and thought this would be a good game, although though history should have taught me better. Graham was not athletic, they were not fast, had some size, but really just had a bunch of boys who did play hard. PG just had too much speed for Graham, and they ran the ball pretty much at will. It really is hard to take away anything from this game other than PG is going to play for a state title, which is much deserved. The Fox Southwest Football Friday message board is atrocious, but I can agree with a common theme that is floating around. I truly believe if you put Graham in District 7 OR 8 of 4A DII, they never make the postseason. Too early to discuss state outcomes, but East Texas is showing up big again. I love it!
  9. No, but earlier I had to close and reopen whole site.
  10. You can take what I say with a grain of salt because I am by no means an expert, BUT whoever wins the toss should probably take the ball first.
  11. Good thing football follows predictions or favorites. If that is the case Graham and PG shouldn’t even play Thursday because NOBODY picked Graham to win their region. Also, at this point in the playoffs can we really call it “hype?” I mean there are four teams left in 4A DII, I’m pretty sure the “hype” of all the teams has been validated.
  12. I cannot wait for this game. So many differences between the two teams. I will say the Graham QB is outstanding, but he seems to have ample time in what I have seen, that will not be the case Thursday. Someone from Graham said the safety is the leading tackler, that’s not good when facing a team that runs the wing T, that means they are 4-6 yards down field. AND if he is coming up and making those plays with the linebackers, well you will be able to find #4 from PG in the end zone with the football. Graham does not make mistakes, that is for sure. Both teams are well coached, and it’s the final four, either can win! Can Graham stop the PG run game with their defensive front? Can PG make the QB uncomfortable and keep him from getting into a rhythm?
  13. It used to be a great rivalry, much in Atlanta’s favor. The only QC win I remember was 2001. The 2003 game was so rancid they didn’t have a choice but to do away with it. If they played now ATL would drop an 80 spot on the dawgs. All the kids playing now are too young to appreciate what kind of rivalry it was, despite QC getting kicked in the teeth for 15 or so years straight!
  14. Your closing remarks are ignorant. You can always identify fans that do not know much about football. They always compare outcomes with similar opponents. So many factors affect the outcomes of games. For instance, PG beat Gilmer, in Gilmer, and regardless of the score, that is tall task. There is a reason they had not lost a district game at home in some 15+ years. In regards to the Celina score, its the third round of the playoffs, everyone comes to play! PG is a running team, they threw 9 times against Celina (a 10-1 defense), Melissa should have scored more than PG against Celina. PG wants to control the clock, and impose their will. They do not run as many plays as Melissa, and definitely do not throw it as much. You know, Syracuse beat Clemson this year, so I guess in your mind they should be in playoffs, and win the whole thing? This game can go either way, at this point in the playoffs past games mean nothing. Melissa has athletes, they have speed, and nobody really doubts their ability. Some of the FSW staff even have them picked to win the region, so your thought process about nobody believing in their ability is erroneous as well. Here is why you should be a little worried about this game. The PG defense has a front seven unlike ANY Melissa has seen. PG really can score and keep up in a fast game (even though they do not like that pace). PG has an O-line as well, yep they do exist outside of Melissa. The PG defense is hands down better than Gilmer, and if PG pitches a shut out the first half, there will be trouble brewing in Paris. Lastly, if PG can run the ball effectively, they will wear any team down.
  15. Well, other than Tatum, they have counted big. Not sure what film you watched but kid has been 7 for 7 with 4 TDs and 7-8 with 3 TDs in last three games. Tatum he was bad, but it was his first playoff game.
  16. Well they better play better than they did against Aubrey, Caddo Mills, and Melissa... They barely beat Aubrey and that has been in the last few weeks, so if that is “coming on” for the Bobcats, I hate it for them.
  17. I have seen PG play a few times this year, and this was by far their worst performance on offense. However, I credit a lot of that to the Tatum kids for showing up and playing their tails off on defense. PG was sloppy on offense. Their best WR saw double coverage all night, and the sophomore QB was rattled. They fumbled inside the 5 then couldn’t punch it in from 1 yard out. Like I said though, hats off to the Tatum kids and coaches, they left it all out on the field. The PG run defense is the best I have seen in a while. They held Tatum RB to like 9 yards on 8 carries the first half. You are right though, the secondary gets beat deep a lot, and if Tatum QB connects on one I remember for sure, it would have been another 6. Definitely will be an issue the deeper they go. I’m not counting PG out yet, but they will have to show up Friday or it will just be an 11-1 year. Do not know anything about Jasper, other than they must have good coaches after watching Atlanta score 28 then get shutout the second half, they made adjustments. I do know WOS is going to have to have a really bad day to get beat. Love the playoffs!
  18. It is a good thing PG defense showed up, the offense looks terrible.
  19. Ok Tatum folks, tonight we get to see if you guys are true football geniuses! I suspect not, but who knows...I have District 7 getting the sweep, so maybe I am crazier than you guys...I got sad to see this thread go cold because of some high schooler talking about the debate club or team, whatever it is... Also, it is game day PGDad, where is your love for them Hawks!? Good luck to the teams tonight!
  20. The Carthage being the best was not in reference to you, I’m catching up on board and just made a broad comment from what I read earlier in board.
  21. SH put up big numbers on everyone. PG did hold them to a season low in scoring (still 30+). SH needs help on defense, and they are super scary going forward. I am not crazy enough to get on here and say PG outright beats Carthage, but I believe it would be a good one. They would hang around. People saying Carthage isn’t the clear # 1 has no basis for their arguement. That team is dominant, and has no reason to be considered anything less than the best, until they get beat. Heck, I could be wrong, I mean a one loss Clemson team, who lost to Syracuse, is considered the 2nd best college team in the nation!
  22. I did not say Atlanta will beat Jasper. I have not seen Jasper play. Gilmer will beat Diboll (too much talent, and coaches who have been there too many times), Rusk and Pitt is a toss up, I believe if Pitt is healthy, they have a good chance. Tatum gets drummed. Comparing a game from week two at this point in the season is useless. Regardless of intensity, I assure you that Henderson team is 100 times better than they were in week 2, and if they played again it would not be close. Hey, and Tatum may hang around for the first 10 minutes or so because they are at home, but they are 3-7 for a reason, and reality will quickly set in.
