Y’all keep harping on PG’s amazing D LINE. Question. How was Gilmer’s good (but not crazy exceptional) O-line able to score what was it 38 points? Asking for honest feedback. If your D line is so good how did Gilmer score? I plan to watch the game tonight. Did anyone se it?

I was at the Gilmer/PG game and watched the Gilmer/Melissa game on video. Gilmer was hitting on all cylinders offensively against PG, they didn't miss too many WR's when they were open. Gilmer looked a little out of sync offensively (missed some wide open WR's) and Melissa did a good job of containing the QB when he ran.

Also, it says the low Friday night is 33 degrees. Let me tell you something though. I don't know what it is about Paris, but it's the coldest place in Texas to play a football game. If they say it's cold, it's bad in Paris. 2014 Atlanta/Melissa was the coldest football game I ever attended. Dress appropriately! Bring a heater!

It should be around 50 degrees at game time.

Get ready for a BIG PG run in basketball

sports fans. We have Xavier Benson (SR) 6'3 Forward/Center, Aaron Harmon (SR) 6'3 Forward, Luke Harmon (SR) 5'10 Guard, Ben Harmon (SOPH) 6'1 Guard........ Landon Jackson (Freshmen) 6'5 Center....  Layton Jackson 6'5 Center/Forward.... Yes, the Harmon boys are all brothers and all three start on the football team #10, #11, #25.

The Jackson boys are brothers also, Landon plays football #40 DE/OLB. Their dad is 6'11 so they're probably not done growing.

Xavier Benson needs no introduction.... Great football and basketball player and headed to Texas Tech next year.

Watch out for Marcus Burris 6'4 (Freshmen) Forward/Center and a backup on the defensive line #44.

We also have several other kids that are good players. Once football season is over keep an eye on this bunch in the playoffs....we'll be there.

    Layton Jackson's is a Soph

They are loaded on offense, really good QB (run & throw...great arm), 4 athletic speedy WR's, and a good line. RB's are good but small. The only question mark is the defense, however, they appear to be playing a lot better on that side of the ball. They have a ton of speed on defense but not that big.

They have a good head coach in my opinion. They have a lot kids participating in football, so I think the kids really like the coaching staff. The school district is spending some money on new schools and upgrading the athletic facilities.

    LE in a close one

Don’t matter now. Only thing that matters now is their kicking lately. Give LE props. If they go home after this game the fellas had a good run. I don’t think they’ll be playing basketball next week myself. I’m not from Texarkana, and I don’t know the coach at all. I’ve just always been amazed at the athletes that come through there. I wish they could land a sure nuff head coach and turn him loose. Someone the boys could look up to. Relate to. Just look at the nice turnaround down the road in Jefferson. I know they got knocked out 2nd round but the coach has got them rolling. With LE’s raw untapped talent, size, speed, and strength, it could be one of the best programs in the state.

After a slow start against Mexia, Coach T will have the MUSTANGS clicking on all Cylinders come Friday against Madisonville. QB had a bruised hip but will be ready.. The team to beat is WOS in 4A DII!

I hope the QB is healthy, he's a great player.  It takes at least two weeks and sometimes as long as 6 weeks to recover from a bruised hip? Did he play Friday night?

  8. 1 hour ago, chukslegacy said:

Yea. I was referring to overall team speed. I doubt PG has faced a team where the front defensive line is as fast as your running backs. WOS pursuit laterally is spot on. If the QB gets healthy the offense will find away to score. Most of these kids had limited playing time the last two years but they always find a way to win!

    QB banged up?

    You the brother??????

    😂😂

No sir....he has two older brothers that are on this team though that are seniors #25 & #11. The other older brother played basketball at PG a few years back. All three play basketball and are on the court at the same time.... pretty cool

I hear there's about to be quite a drop off in PG. Looks like this is their last chance to do anything for a while.

The senior class is probably the best ever at PG. The next two years we should be good.  It's hard to call because you never know what kind of chemistry the Sr, Jr, & Soph class will have from year to year.  The sophomore class this year is also very talented, as a group they've lost one game in three years (7, 8 & 9th). There are 8-9 sophomore on the varsity this year and most of them are backups or rotate with starters. The junior class has three starters on defense and one on offense. We have a freshmen that starts on DL and one that rotates.

We'll be a lot better than most people think, however, the district is going to be tough again. Gilmer has a very talented sophomore class, Pittsburg's Junior class is really good, LE is always good, Springhill looks good and not sure who else will be in the district next year.

QB better focus hard on baseball and basketball then....a QB running the wing T ain't gonna get a lot of D1 attention.

We left some points off the board as well. Quite honestly....every PG fan keeps saying "y'all played bad"....I understand that the playoffs is a new and foreign concept to y'all but there's no room for playing bad, or excuses. Yalls bad game largely was due to the fact that our 7 loss defense punched y'all in the mouth for 4 quarters. Possibly because y'all may have taken us lightly.....but most of the mistakes I saw made by PG were caused by a defense that played well above their expectations. There were a few bad snaps but our defense had the young QB rattled. Rattled enough to sling one up for grabs from pressure all over him with nothing but green jersies anywhere near the ball. He's about to see bigger and better defenses very soon. PG has a dang good football team...especially on the defensive side of the ball. Offensively, I'd say they are above average. Jasper and Rusk's offenses are probably a little bit better but PG offense is pretty solid. After this week the road gets tougher. I think Aubrey is as close to a for sure when as you can get. Then it's big boy time. Gonna be fun to watch it all unfold. Good luck to y'all.

I'm speculating a little, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if we change offenses next year to a spread. We have a lot of good WR coming through and our QB is a passing QB.

Thank you, we will need some luck.

What was your prediction for the 1st round? I bet you was WRONG too. Nobody in the high school football world woulda thought Tatum would have held y'all to 21 points much less play y'all to a 14 point game.

A WIN.... I could care less if we win by 1 point or 30

Just don't see PG winning it all. PGDad is all high and mighty on them and that's fine, it's the best season they've ever had but they just honestly weren't what I expected them to be. I expected studs everywhere....to me, their offense was actually quite mediocre. Defensively, their front 7 are amazing. Secondary was a bit shakey....but definitely one of the best defenses we've seen. I think Jasper wins the region, WO-S will be a tall task for anyone.

We had an off night offensively, mainly due to Tatum playing well defensively and fumbled snaps. Wing T is all about timing and so it's important to get the snap and get moving (a lot of moving parts).  Our QB is a three-sport athlete and excels at all three (football, baseball & basketball). He will play D1 in one of those sports, in my opinion. Great kid and great athlete (Ben Harmon). He will not be rattled, he has ice water in his veins. We left 17 points out there that we normally would've capitalized on (red zone). Offense is not mediocre, check our results offensively this year VS a tough schedule. Great defense, and a really good offense.

Hats off to Tatum for playing an excellent game.... I'm still trying to figure out why they didn't win more games.

WOS wins it hands down! PG doesn't have the speed to compete with WOS. I predict a game like Celina, close first qtr then the Mustangs open it up with their speed!

If PG makes it that far, speed will not be an issue we have 5 or 6 guys on defense and at least that many on offense that run sub 11.7 100 meters. WOS has one guy that posted an 11.5, 100 meter dash (athletic.net) the QB. If you are referring to WOS's overall team speed maybe you have a point.  I doubt they have more team speed than Arkansas High, Paris, LE, & Atlanta.  Some of those have won numerous state track championships. On the football field we can run with anybody in 4A2.
