  1. Argyle had a 60 game regular season win streak...hadn't a disctrict game since 2009...hadn't been shut ot since 2006 But the craziest thing to me tonight was the Eagles had 31 carries for 41 yards rushing. That Melissa run D is something special. They've allowed @ 500 yards rushing total in 6 games. #2 & #25 live in opposing teams backfield all night.
  2. Great discussion as expected in anything involving Regal even though 90% of the contriburion is from him...just kidding around, Regal is one cool dude. Argyle has to be at least midly concerned that they have only scored a total of 3 offensive TDs in the past 2 weeks. That happened against great Ds in Celina & LV but nothing like that happened to Eagles last year. I think they scored at least 4 offensive TDs in all 16 games last year. I've been told Arygle's D is the best in school history this year which seems likely, so that may counterbalance any struggles on O. The key to Melissa keeping this game close or even possibly winning is to eliminate the 'stupid' stuff...penalties and turnovers. They have far too many of each this season although the turnovers have been far less the past 2 weeks against good opponents. If Cards have less than 2 turnovers and less than 7 penalties think they have a fighting chance. The 10+ penalties and 4+ turnovers non-sense will never cut against a great team like Argyle. Melissa also can't let Arygle jump out to a big early lead. The past 3 times these teams have played the Eagles were up 14-0 before they fans were settled in.
  3. Not convinced the weather will ba a factor tomorrow night. The official NWS forecast says 60% chance showers and thunderstorms, but that's been the forecast from Tuesday til today and other than 10 minutes laste this afternoon there has been no rain in the VannalissaPlex this week. It will rain at some point between now on Saturday just doubtful to me that it will be tomorrow between 7:30-10PM.
  4. Last time Melissa traveled to Paris in 2018 the Cards had 21 penalties to Cats 5. Tonight 14 to 3 penalty margin at half. Weird stuff happens up here. Mel lead that game 19-7 at half and lost 28-25. This game far from over.
  5. I think many see this as another 50-40 point by each team type game..I'm thinking will be lower, something like 26-24, maybe 30-28. I'd be shocked if either team wins by more than 12. Both Ds look overall better than they were last year and Melissa O seems a little less dynamic this year, although I was surprised to see that Melissa has the #1 passer and #1 rusher in 4A and below schools in the DFW coverage area. I will be there tonight and looking for a close intense game in perfect football weather.
  6. The last 3 times these teams have met since 2018 have all been incredibly exciting games. 18- Paris won 28-25 19- Mel won 54-46 20 playoffs- Paris won 54-49 I think think big thing to watch for tonight is the Melisaa run D. They appear to be much improved over past few years having only allowed a total of 310 yards rushing in 4 games against a strong schedule. In the recent past Melissa has allowed close to that amount of rushing yards in a half! Holding Celina and Midlo Heritage to each under 150 yards rushing is impressive. Don't think the Cards will shut down Paris wing-T but if they can limit them and force them into passing sutuations will Paris be able to throw the ball with success? Melissa's DBs seem to be their only big weakness so... A couple other notes- I left the JV game last night with 1 min left in 3rd quarter and Melissa up 32-0. I was told coming into game Cards JV was 1-3 but looked great against Paris, who only had 22 players dressed to Melissa's 40+. I also understand I former Paris player from last years team OL #57 Chandler Sykes tragically passed away earlier this week at age 18. This hurts my heart. Gone waaaay too soon, RIP Chandler
  7. My predictions for last week of 7-4A D1 non-district. Except Paris who did the somewhat odd move of scheduling Wylie East on 10/28. Argyle at LaVega -Argyle by 22 38-16 Midlo Heritage at Melissa -Melissa by 2 29-27 N. Lamar at Anna -Anna by 32 44-12 Aubrey at Terrell -Aubrey by 9 41-32 Alvarado at Kaufman -Kaufman by 15 36-21
  8. Many have stated the past 2 years that District 7-4A D1 is the best 4A D1 district in the state. I'm not sure it was true last year. Argyle was the best D1 team in the state and ran the table never really being challanged. Paris and Melissa were 2A & 2B and were both very good teams, but the rest of the 4 teams in the district were not very good at all and Rachview was terrible. Fast forward to this year and it IS likely this is the best 4A D1 district in the state. The current non-district standings are... Argyle 3-0 Kaufman 3-0 Terrell 3-0 Anna 3-0 Paris 2-1 Melissa 1-2 Ranchview 0-3 Argyle is still Argyling. Just do not see anybody in the district coming within 3 TDs of them. Nobody may challnge them til very deep in playoffs. IMO Paris and Melissa still 2A & 2B. Paris is still very good and always seems to have a stable of RBs and a 3 year year starter at QB. Melissa is better than the 1-2 record indicates, but perhaps just the homer in me. they were 13-13 with a very good Celina team in the 3rd q and were 35-35 with a very underrated and dangerous Frisco Memeorial team late in 3rd q before the wheels fell off. IMO Memorial is a 5A D2 top 25 team but are also in a loaded district. They have a great QB and 2 stud WRs along with a big phyisal D. I think the Cardinals have a solid chance to knock off state ranked Midlo Heritage if they protect the ball and cut down on penalties. Melissa absolutely demolished Carter last week 60-7. Carter not a good team but not a bad team either as they defeated an always average 5A Cleburne the week before. At one point in the 3rd q Melissa had outgained Carter 480 to -12. The gap between the rest of the district appears to have closed or at a minimum the rest of the district has improved quite a bit minus Ranchview, who is still terrible. Kaufman won the state 7 on 7 in the spring so it was obvious there was talent there and the now have a knack for winning close games against decent opponents. You could tell last year that Kanye Nix would be a future star for Terrell and looks like he is as Terrell has rolled to a 3-0 start albeit against a weak schedule. It gets much tougher for the Tigers against a very good Aubrey team this week. Don't think Terrell has quite enough to win but if they do or keep it close we will know they are for real. I've said for a while that Anna could be a sleeping giant. They had a home run hire that seems to be paying instant divedends. There has always been some talented players for the Coyotes but just no depth and little community support. The tide seems to be changing now. The schedule hasn't been the toughest but the 2 TD win over WF Hirschi was an eye-opener. Anna should roll at home against N. Lamar this week and would put them at 4-0. Not sure the last time that has happened. Looking forward to district play starting next week and hoping for some closer games between teams 2-6. IMO Argyle won't be challenged and Ranchview won't challange anybody.
  9. A large part of the southern part of Celina is in Prosper ISD, so even though Celina is growing many of those students will not attend Celina HS. Like dotcom stated above I think it will be at least 5 years until Celina moves up to 5A.
  10. There is a 99% chance Argyle will be 5A D2 next realignment. Nearly all the new development is in Flower Mound (Canyon Falls & Trailwood) . Argyle won’t stay in 5A D2 more than 4-6 years as an even much larger Furst Ranch development in Flower Mound at NE corner of 1171 & 377 is underway. The plans are 2,500+ single family homes & 4,000+ townhomes and apartments ALL zoned to Argyle ISD.
  11. Celina has a really good good team this year. Melissa does not. At least 5 turnovers & 20+ penalties. I knew Cards were overrated but they may have been severely overrated. I’m recovering from Covid so glad I watched this from the comfort of my house.
  12. Fantastic summary on Celina, but Melissa has won 4 straight. 35-14, 28-21, 29-17, 32-20
  13. Melissa vs Whitehouse played 4 quarter simulation. The first 2 quarters were 12 min with normal clock stoppages. Then second half 10 min running clock. Melissa 28 Whitehouse 14. Also, arrived just as JV scrimmages was wrapping up and Melissa scored long TDs on the last 2 plays.
  14. Only witnessed 2 quarter simulation. Melissa 14 PG 14. PG started with a methodical 12+ play drive with nice run/pass mix. Melissa ran ultra fast pace mostly passes to score quickly. PG turned ball over 2 times and gave Cards short fields but missed 2 FGs. Melissa completed 50+ pass down to 1 scored next play to go up 14-7 then unloaded bench. PG seemed to leave mostly 1st team in and scored on a pass to Huge #40 where he broke multiple tackles.
  15. I’m just waitin on Footballalltheway to say something negative about Melissa.
  16. I thought talent wise Celina & Anna were the 2 best teams in district and then Aubrey & Melissa were even as 3-4. Aubrey/Mel split the season series and Aubrey won in 9 inn in a game Mel had many chances to win. VA wasn't a bad team and would have made the playoffs in many 4A districts. Sanger wasn't good and Gainesville may have been the worst team in 4A. I'm pretty shocked Melissa is the only team left in round 4. Out of the final 16 4As they are the only team left that didn't finish 1 or 2 in district and as you said they had to sneak in via tie-breaker game. Cards #3 pitcher is decent. He held Celina to 2 runs thru 6 innings and after a rough 1st inning pitched well against Midlo Heritage in game 2 of that series. PG has to be the favorite but think will be close series and will go to a game 3.
  17. Melissa waxed Wax Life 10-0 game 1 and today in game 2 12-1. Life never had a chance in this series and I can’t figure out how they beat Celina. Melissa got some really favorable matchups last 2 rounds and has won last 4 playoff games by combined 43-1 scores.
  18. Yep. Alvarado was not good. Don’t think they ever had a runner past 2nd today & Melissa led 4-0 after 1st inning on just 2 hits. Melissa left 10+ runners on base so could have been way worse than 12-0. Crazy thing is Alvarado swept Wax Life in district play but Celina also swept Melissa in district so just perhaps about getting hot at right time.
  19. Wow. Didn’t see that coming. Was looking forward to seeing a Melissa-Celina 3rd round Matchup. Melissa absolutely overwhelmed Alvarado sweeping the series in 2 games by combined 21-0 only giving up a total of 8 hits in the series.
  20. Lots of chatter about Melissa baseball in this thread and I’ll keep my mouth shut about all of that but will say Melissa won games 2 & 3 today against Midlo Heritage 16-6 and 14-12. Heritage won 2-1 last night using their best arm. They really no nobody else throwing very well and Melissa teed off today. Melissa never used their best pitcher in the series as he went the distance throwing 100+ pitches in the 4th place play in game earlier this week. 9-4A swept 10-4A in bi-district just as they did in softball.
  21. Street level view of athletic fields show lights..actually very nice lighting system so guessing that no longer the case.
  22. Youngblood and he’s at 6A McKinney HS now
  23. My last minute thoughts on this game before heading out to it soon. It's hard for me to believe that Paris only scored 7 against Argyle a month ago after seeing Paris put up 54 on Melissa, but think the Cats may have had turnover issues, also the matchups and style of paly within the games between these teams so different. I said last week thought Paris would have to be able to throw the ball effectively to beat Melissa and they did so in the 1st quarter and then never needed to again, running for 450+. Argyle's D significantly better than Melissa so saying again the Cats must be able to throw again tonight to win. Paris does have a stable of very talented backs but Argyle will be keying on them all night. As stated previously the Paris OL not big but they are quick on their feet and use good schemes and technique to give those talented backs a crease. If Cats can't run the ball well they are doomed. I was not that impressed with the Paris D. Many posts on here were lauding them and I just didn't see it. Melissa ran up 550+ yards offense on them including 321 on the ground. Part of that was because Melissa run 87 offensive plays but still was not impressed. I think the Argyle OL once again dominates the LOS and opens up the playbook more than last week when they were battling against their history with LV. Game stays close for a half the Eagles claw their way to a 41-23 win...then destroy Canyon next week.
  24. I got 1 on the Argyllian side late last night. The nice virtual seat map on ticketspicket showed very few seats left on Eagle side. I'm high up on about the 25-30yd line
  25. If you had told me Melissa would score 49 points commit 1 penalty and Paris would only complete 3 passes the whole game I’d tell you they would have won easily but didn’t end that way. The key plays were the early Melissa int that led to Paris 2nd TD and really made Melissa play catch up the rest of the night and the muffed punt in the 4th quarter. also the final TD for Paris on the 4th and 2 with 4 min left. That option pitch was a great play call. the real head scratcher to me was the 2 timeouts Melissa called on their final drive. Both timeouts were called immediately after the previous play ended and there was 2+ minutes left. If they save those timeouts they have a chance to get the ball back after the failed (nearly recovered) onside kick. This is 2nd year in a row Melissas coaches have had bad clock management late in 3rd round playoff loss. Congrats to Paris. Not sure they are the better team but they played better tonight and deserved to win. They had a great game plan and have a stable of talented backs.
