  1. Melissa up 30-14 at half. Could be a much larger margin if they hadn’t had 4 turnovers. Cards have passed 90% of plays and QB has 270 yards and 3 TDS but also thrown 2 ints.
  2. I was at that PG- Argyle 3rd round playoff game in Royse City in 09. Those teams were evenly matched but PG seem to have much more speed and played very physical. I told my buddy at the game with me that PG was a sleeping giant and could not understand why they were not elite back then...now fast forward to today.
  3. I saw Pottsboro 3 times (once in a scrimmage) and Gunter 1 time last year. IMO Pottsboro was quite a bit better all around team last year and not surprised they won that matchup. Both teams look to have lost a bunch from last years teams but Plyler is the difference maker for Potts...going with the Cards 34-22.
  4. I think I saw that Waco Connally rushed for over 500 on Sunnyvale. If Sunnyvale does not correct their defensive woes it could be a long night against a Card team with a stable of offensive weapons and an experienced OL. Melissa 41 Sunnyvale 20
  5. I would not put too much stock into Tulsa Metro Christian as they are a 2A school which in OK I think means enrollment between 200-350. I actually expected Paris to win by a larger margin than 20. I'll take Paris at home by a slim 27-24 margin.
  6. Agree with all this and think Celina will be just fine. The Bobcats may even start 0-3 but end up at least as far as the semi-finals. They have to maintain it's a war, not a battle mentality. IMO their only challengers in region are Greenwood, Iowa Park & Graham. I think they will every district game by 30+. The QB can really spin the ball not much accuracy on deep balls. I was really impressed with soph RB #14, he has a very bright future. Thought the whole Celina D played well overall especially the front seven. Melissa battled adversity big-time and still prevailed. To be on QB #3 and RB #2 with help at the position from a few others, and have 2 of your best players Robinson & Youngblood sidelined most of 2nd half with cramping issues and still beat a high quality opponent like Celina is a great way to start the season. All- in all was a strange game. All 5 of Melissa TDs came on plays of greater than 20 yards. Celina had a TD drive of 1 yard and other TD came on a play that contained obvious block in the block that sprung the play down the sideline, so was overall very happy with Cards D play.
  7. Melissa 32 Celina 20 ...under 1 min remaining
  8. Melissa already on QB #3 and Youngblood out w/ injury too
  9. About the game tonight. Think will be a war between 2 great schools, 2 great communities, 2 great teams. I'd be shocked if either team wins by more than 10. I have Melissa coming out on top 24-22. Melissa must stay injury free as non-district gets no easier after tonight. Sunnyvale #7 in 4A D2 Pottsboro #3 in 3A D1 Stephenville #11 in 4A D1
  10. Looks like it will be a race to 5A between Argyle, Anna and Melissa. will all go in 2022? or together in 2024? I think it's very likely Argyle goes to 5A in 2022. They are building almost as many homes in Flower Mound zoned to Argyle ISD as they are in the AnnaMelissaPlex. The new Argyle HS actually will have a Flower Mound mailing address.
  11. The current cut off between 4A-5A is 1226ish and will likely go up next cycle. The only way Melissa goes to 5A in 2022 is if they add 200+ students at the high school within next 13 months and I do not see how that's possible. There is a 100% chance Melissa will be 5A in 2024 but I'd say 20-30% it happens in 2022. the wildcard is what impact Covid has on enrollment numbers.
  12. Melissa will not be at the 1200 student mark yet. I asked a Melissa ISD front office person on Tuesday and she told me Melissa HS enrollment expected to be 1030-1040 at 10 day mark from school starting and expected to increase some by end of year. Rooftops going up like crazy with 18 different home builders actively building, but many of the homes not yet occupied and the ones that are very heavy with children in the 3-8 year age range. Ground should be broken on new elementary school within weeks and will be open for 2021-2022 school year. This school will actually be located in McKinney but in Melissa ISD boundaries. This years freshman class will be the largest Melissa has seen and will still be under 300.
  13. Week 1 games always the toughest to pick. These teams have been pretty even the past couple years but Lewis was the difference maker at QB and he's gone now. The key questions are... Is the new Card QB a gamer? He took well over 100 snaps last year so has quite a bit of varsity experience. Will the young Melissa DL be able to handle the big Celina OL? What will Logan Point's replacement be like at RB? How will the big Bobcat WR look against a very talented Melissa secondary? Which team will the heat better?
  14. Melissa has already won 3 straight the Bobcats so if they win Friday will be 4 in a row.
  15. Melissa 14 Gunter 0 live quarter. I was there, not too much to report. Melissa had 2 drives and scored on both.
  16. The 1 quarter play ended with Melissa 14 Gunter 0. Melissa had 2 possessions and scored on both.
  17. Looks like Stephenville picked up Melissa for week 4. Melissa also added Whitney in week 2 to replace 5A Frisco Memorial
  18. Ranchview HS is firmly entrenched within Dallas County. It is a Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD high school but is located in Irving very near 635 & MacArthur. 100% of it's student body resides in Dallas County. I worked in an office building less than a mile from there off of 635 for 5 years shortly after the school opened.
  19. Carrollton Ranchview is a 4A school in Dallas County...and in a district with Anna, Melissa, Argyle, Kaufman, Terrell and Paris...gonna be interesting to see how that plays out,
  20. This is really good web-site with easy to see data. The trending is positive the past few days. One thing that really stands out to me is that Denton County has had 1 Covid death since June 12th and that is in a County of 890,000 residents.
  21. I thought just 3 weeks ago football was not happening, but now more hopeful. If games are played I will attend. Just looked at some interesting Collin County covid19 numbers. As of Wed 5/13 1,109,000 residents (estimated) 963 positive cases 623 recovered 29 total deaths 18 of the deaths were from the same nursing home/assisting living facility of the remaining 11 deaths, 8 were either over age 65 or had serious underlying health issues. Let this all sink in...3 otherwise healthy/young people out of 1.1mill+ die (.0000027 % of population) and we ruin countless peoples lives...
  22. Was just discussing this with some co-workers. None of the 4 of us know anybody that has this. For me I'm counting all family, friends, friends of friends, co-workers, work clients spanning the states of NY, PA, VA, NC, IL, MN, GA, AL, MS. LA, NM, CA, CO, UT, OR, WA and the great state of TX. This includes at least 500+ people and nobody affected. I know the virus is real but this is just odd and something to think about,
  23. I finally have what I firmly believe to be reliable info from a high school softball coach. She said they were told by UIL if they are unable to play games prior to May 10th all spring sports are cancelled. If they are able to resume by then there will be a district tournament, then only top 2 teams make playoffs and playoff rounds will all be one game only.
  24. I'm hopeful baseball can be completed but with that date of no activity until May 4th will make it difficult. Perhaps if each district only plays each team once instead of twice and instead of each round of playoffs taking a week, play only 1 game series 2 times a week. With that baseball playoffs go from 6 weeks to 3-4 weeks.
