  1. I don't even care too much about these teams, but I stopped whatever it was I was doing in order to catch the first pitch. It feels good to have baseball "officially" start for this season :happy65: BTW, the new Nationals Park looks pretty nice...
  2. Just finished a classic: Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
  3. I actually played football against Whittier. I remember laughing at the name then, and now again. Poets just don't seem to scare me that much... :ermm:
  4. Yeah, I remember seeing that preview before "Transformers" in the summer. I guess the ad campaign worked to get people remember a preview they saw half a year ago.
  5. Agreed. I don't know if I'll be able to watch it
  6. Any of you see the movie "Cloverfield" yet? I liked it all the way up until the ending. I was a little disappointed by it. Just curious to see what ya'll thought.
  7. San Diego has had some classless acts thus far in their season. Rivers was trash talking Cutler when the Chargers played the Broncos, Rivers was yet again trash talking the fans in Indy, and now Olshansky has to say something before they play the best team in the league. Not too smart... Also, living in San Diego, I've had some time to observe the sports scene here. I am a 'Boys fan, and used to live in Texas. As I watch the Chargers and their fans, I've come to realize that they have some of the worst bandwagon fans out there. No one watched them when they were 1-15 years back, and stinkin up the place, but now that they're in contention year end and year out, the town can't get enough of them. It makes no sense to me. That being said, I'll be rootin' for the Pats and Green Bay, hoping for a NE/Green Bay Super Bowl. And no, that is not bandwagon jumping, picking a team to cheer on now that your team is out...If you want bandwagon experience, come to San Diego.
  8. I would recommend seeing this movie. It is pretty intense. The acting was great by Casey Affleck and Ed Harris, and it had a gripping story. It would be up near the top of my list.
  9. Jason Witten traveled with Romo, too. It's not like Romo was breaking any team rules or anything. It was the weekend off. This is blown way outta proportion.
  10. I am reminded of the difference of having one superior team play an undeserving, over-rated team in the bowl. Before the Rose Bowl I believed that USC was one of the hottest and best teams in the nation, and the game just reinforced my beliefs. But back to the team in question, Hawaii, as the thread title is, in fact, Hawaii, and not USC or Illinois... Hawaii played in the WAC and went undefeated. I thought hey, this team is undefeated with a good quarterback at the helm, maybe they have a shot against the Bulldogs, as we all remember what happened with Boise St/Oklahoma last year. But after the first quarter or so, I was reminded that while being undefeated is a nice stat, it wasn't against anyone in particular. When your playing against a team that is a perennial contender in the SEC, and the biggest test you've faced all year is a decent Boise State team, or if you have to come back against Washington in the second half, then you probably don't stack up against a top SEC opponent. This game was different than any bowl this year b/c of the hype that Hawaii received and the fact that they were an underdog who might have a shot. This game showed everyone how undeserving they were, and how battle tested they weren't.
  11. I am now reminded of the difference between playing in the WAC and playing in the SEC. This game got ugly real fast
  12. In-N-Out burgers are some of the best out there. I recommend them to anyone who makes it out here on the West Coast. Sonic was my favorite back in Texas. They have a good breakfast, too.
  13. I liked the first one, so chances are I'll see this one.
  14. You could've just stopped right there. Do not take anythig that man says as serious. I'm still waiting for the Phillies to come back from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Rockies. Nice prediction Skip. ESPN has been sippin' on the Cowboy's Haterade lately, but I don't mind. I'll wait and see what they're saying about them come playoff time, when the Cowboys are rolling through their weak NFC opponents.
  15. It was good. I thought it would be a little bit better. It was entertaining, and I can't compare it to the Omega Man or Last Man on Earth b/c I hadn't seen them, but I probably will now. It was depressing, though, like Max89 said...
  16. I'm like an hour from the Holiday Bowl. Maybe I'll head down there to see it :hmm: Should be good.
  17. You can read the entire Mitchell Report on MLB.com in pdf format. The whole report is kinda long, and you have to filter through it for the names, but they're there nonetheless.
  18. His name is Kevin Smith, and he's from Central Florida, if that's the guy your thinking of. He needs like 150 something yards I believe to break Barry Sander's record for rush yards in a season. He has over 2,400. I watched him last week on tv in the C-USA championship game, and he's a pure work horse.
  19. I think Pittsburgh will give the Pats a tough game this coming up Sunday. They seem to match up well with the Patriots, and have a gameplan similar to that of the Eagles and Ravens, who both challenged NE.
  20. It was a good game. Now they should get into a BCS bowl game for sure. I would love to see them take on a team from a major BCS conference with the offense they run. It should be an entertaining game.
  21. June Jones himself said that he wanted to schedule the likes of USC or Michigan, but the big powerhouse teams do not want to travel, or had trouble finding an open week to fit them in. Also, Hawaii was scheduled to play Michigan State this year, but the Spartans paid Hawaii to pull out of the game. I know MSU is not a powerhouse this year, but they are from a major BCS conference, and a team that would bring recognition. They did beat Boise State, a ranked team from their conference. It is just hard to schedule teams and coordinate a travel plan at Hawaii, and I think they did the best they could. If Hawaii goes undefeated, they should be in a BCS bowl game.
  22. Very sad to hear. Way too young...RIP Sean Taylor
  23. Who does the commentary for NFL Network? I don't have it, so I've never seen or heard a game called by the Network. Just wondering...
