I know Celina has a good team, but I don't see them being able to hang with La Vega in this one. To many offensive weapons for the pirates. If they stack the box LV will throw the rock and they sit back and play coverage the pirates will tote it. Also Celina will find it difficult to move the ball against the LV defense especially if you are a one dimensional team. LV will be the fastest and most physical team Celina will see this year and most likely the last.

🤬 Annual rant about losing teams backing into the playoffs
coachkells replied to Everide2016's topic in High School Sports
District 5 4AD1 swept district 6, and out scored them by a combined 239 - 50. District 5, 4 seed China Spring won 50 to 22 over Kennedale. -
I believe Alvarado would be a good region 1 team, I think Paris speed is the difference in this game and the get one more stop then Alvarado, something like Paris 42 Alvarado 35.

You know that LV won every relay at 4a the state track meet last year. La Vega has a little speed too. -

How do you think they will be able to hold up against the defensive line of La Vega? -

Pretty sure 3 of the Brownwood Defensive back ran on their state relay last year. Should be interesting. -

Shoot they gave up 22 to Stephenville, I hope LV can score more then 20. -
On paper this looks to to be a very good match up. Brownwood has statically one of the best defenses in 4A, against a La Vega team that doesn't have to rely on the run as much as past teams. La Vega plays some pretty good defense too.

La Vega Won that game 33-31, and Cobb caught him about the 45 of Argyle and tackled him on the LV 44. I know over time memories fade and turn in to things we wish had happened.

Lorena 505 right on the edge of 3A D1 and 4A D2.

Their running game is based off of their passing game it a numbers game for Argyle. Stack the box they will throw the ball, drop back and cover and they will run it down your throat. It a Art Bryles Baylor type offense. From what I have seen neither of these teams have much of a defense this year though Argyles D came up with a few timely stops against La Vega. Weather will be a factor for both teams (weather edge I give to Melissa). Wish I could come watch this one. If it rains during the game, this one is a push, no rain Argyle by 10. But what do I know.

Dawgs 42-10

Argyle is no joke. They have lots of weapons and a really good offensive system. There were a few plays that could of turned that game in LV favor but that's football, and you have to get stops and we were unable to do that in the first half. Hoping for a rematch, both teams will have a tough road to get there though.

I thought they only scored 6 against LV.

Short handed LV big over Stephenville.
-
I was just on La Vega's Max Prep Schedule they have the Pirates scheduled to play Carthage on 12/21 at 11:30.
-
Do the big 3 continue to roll or does one of them hit a speed bump this week?
-
Brock 3AD1 (4-2), Snyder 4AD2 (1-4), Graham 4AD2 (2-3), Rider 5AD2 (2-3), Wylie 5AD2 (0-5), Grand Oak TAAPS (3-3) Not a bad. Still only giving up 32 point is pretty darn good.
-
The winner of Region 2 will definitely be the most battle tested team in the Semi Finials.
-
Never said they didn't play great defense. Only giving up 32 points is great over 6 games is pretty darn good.

Brownwood 6-0 against teams with a 12-20 Record combined. The only team that has a winning record is Brock and Brownwood won that game 10-0.
